A typical day at work on the night shift was from 3:30 pm to 2:00 am. You would take over the work from someone on the day shift. The former position would receive jobs of flat sheet metal with information in an engineering drawing and decipher what needs to be bent, how, and then run the operation. 

As a Former I had to learn the skills one needs to operate the machinery and eventually learn how to set up the Press Brake machine. I had to learn their standard of quality control and follow those procedures. 

The co-workers were easy to get along with, very helpful and one of the few reasons it was worth going into work. 

The hardest part of the job was having to deal with tools that were no longer suitable for producing excellent quality work. There was also a number of times we would have to lift incredibly heavy material. Most jobs require at least one set up but they would often send down no extras for a very difficult job just to save a bit of money (which if one mistake happened along the way would cost them a lot more than if they just sent one extra)

I enjoy being challenged and seeing a good result and so the most enjoyable part of my job was getting those challenges. If you don't like being challenged you may have a hard time finding something you like. The co-workers made the environment better.

The 1st red flag is that, for a company that has being around for over 2 decades, you will only find employees that have been with the company for a long time (8+ years) and ones that are about a year and nothing in-between. Because their MO, is to hire people when they are running behind on a big projects, convince them that they will be kept on and worked them to the bone while the old cliquey employees are moved to cozier tasks. Once the project start winding down, they begin firing people for smallest to mistakes. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO FUTURE THERE no matter how hard you work.
Most of the managers have their kids working there, not sure if the CEO knows, just how bad the kids are ruining his company. They are not afraid to remind you that their jobs are safe because of their parents.

They mostly hire through temp agency: you work for 3-4 months with the agency, then 6 months for them before becoming eligible for benefits.

If you don't have any other option, you should work there, but keep in mind that you will be fired or laid off before 1 1/2 year. It is practically a guaranty.

I work in the deburr department on the day shift. I mainly buff and grind metal in accordance to paperwork requirements. It is a great place to work mainly because of the other workers with great attitudes. Pay isn't overly great but the benefits are good if you can stand the pay long enough to stay there. People that have been there for a long time don't get great pay. However it is a great and productive work environment and I have definitely learned a lot while working there. Although several instances have occurred where changes have been made but lack of communication has messed up several jobs.

The job itself isn't bad as long as you know what you're expecting. Typical factory jobs, so make sure you bring music. But when you bring music, don't ask multiple people if earbuds are allowed because you'll get conflicting answers and they'll pin you for it. Also don't question your "superiors" because they are always right. Also don't bother leaving your workstation at all because odds are you're doing something wrong. As you can see, you're almost always doing something wrong. Garbage management, horrible supervisors. Avoid at all costs so you don't waste your time.

At Pryor Metals I usually operate the welding robots. We have one grinding robot in which i program. I learned how to sucessfully operate and program robots, use a large variety of sheet metal tools and have learned some welding techniques. At work it is important to manage your time in order to meet deadlines for jobs. I enjoy working with all my co-workers, they make the day more enjoyable. The hardest part of the job is making new programs on our robots. There is always improvments that can be made on the programs. I enjoy using the mig welding torches.

Typical day at work consisted of working on an assembly line, putting together high-quality sheet metal assemblies and components with the aid of engineering drawings.
I learned how to interpret engineering drawings and specifications, complete high-volume assemblies, and how to accept constructive criticism from coworkers and superiors.

No communication between all departments. Lots of backtracking due to that lack of communication. Very counterproductive. A constant revolving door. As far as the staff go they enjoy poking fun though they don't seem to have the same of humor if that fun is pointed  towards them. Nobody respects eachother.

Overall a bad place to work.
Older long time employees are arrogant and tricky to deal with.
Lots of politics in this place, watch what you say and do.
Poor pay, mediocre benefits, and poor work environment: really really hot in the summer and just hot in the winter.
Find another job, don't go here.

I was only a summer student at this workplace, and although I was a temporary employee I was treated very well and appropriately. Very welcoming and accommodating to the balance between workplace life and personal life.

Pryor Metals as a great work environment. There is chemistry within the fabrication shop team members, making for great productivity. I love the equipment we use as well.
