Lack of leadership to pursue new ideas and directions for fear of failure or going against Executive comfort zone

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very much status oriented.  A quote that proved itself to be correct throughout my 40 year career "middle management are there to prepare their bosses for their next promotional opportunity  as we push the ideas and keep the boat afloat till the next one comes in with an agenda we have to work around"

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Do my job, attend countless meetings with no resolution all to appease woke policies and agendas government think Canadians expect.

During this internship I learned about the many types of careers available in the federal public safety and security field by participating in learning activities and discussing with employees from various departments such as Canada Border Services Agency, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Correctional Service of Canada, Public Safety Canada, Parole Board of Canada, and Canadian Security Intelligence Service.
Various facets were explored, such as policy, intelligence, corrections, and front line law enforcement.
As one of over hundreds of students selected, I gained first-hand knowledge of the vast career opportunities, as well as how all these departments work together to keep Canada safe.

I’m a Technical Support Specialist with more than eight years of experience in roles that include: System/Network Analyst and Admin., Servers Support Analyst, LAN/WAN Networking, and Helpdesk II & III. I maintain training and experience in building/maintaining network infrastructures and managing departmental resources.

Very challenging job. Professional environment dealing with interesting subject matters in crime, law enforcement and borders reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister..

The hardest part was maintaining a flow of detail correspondence without error. Unpredictable request from Minister.

Nice people to work with in a learning environment.

High stress, frequently changing goals, under resourced and under staffed, mediocre compensation, many re-orgs, high staff churn rate, by nature much of the work is in reaction t external events.

A typical day at work consisted of dealing with internal clients.

The most enjoyable part of the job was working alongside great co-workers

Differences in stress level and work effort based on team assignments.  Different groups not willing to help others - silo  management.
Good opportunity if you have energy and drive to accomplish more.

limited in what i could do even though I kept letting them know that I was available for more work.

I meant some other workers from the bldg which where very kind and friendly.

A typical day at my internship consisted of shadowing and learning from women in the Public Safety field. I learned something new every day, and there was never a dull moment. This job allowed me to explore future job opportunities I might have.

Great Salary/Benefits and work-life balance, free training but job advancement is tough. Management is hit or miss. It is not a stressful place to work.
