Depending on which location you work at, the customer service can be trying. The tenants have a lot of specific needs or unique situations, which public storage cannot accommodate. So you must say ‘no’ very often. It’s draining on the soul. Especially when it seems that for such a service, there should be more staff on hand, to help customers, and also help other staff members. Public storage lets down everyone, customers, and employees, alike. All the burden is put on the employees, who are treated like a human shield for the company. Employees are trained to say “yes”, but actually ‘no’, in the most runaround kind of way. This is done to the point that it cause a constant pile-up of tension and stress, leading to nervous ticks ( ie. twitching eyes (the PS twitch) ). The amount employees are paid, doesn’t warrant the amount of responsibility. Because of this, they can’t find employees, since long before a pandemic. Since they refuse to pay fairly, current staff suffers with pay that can’t pay the bills, and zero support at work. Good luck calling in sick if ever needed. They won’t love you for that. Customers also suffer because of the lack of staff, which they take out on the existing staff. It’s a vicious cycle and I wouldn’t recommend that anyone offer themselves up as a sacrifice for the company by working there. They are like Weyland-yutani.

I went to work everyday happy to be there. I took pride in the property as if it were my own. I would start the day by counting the float and filling in the log. Returning phone calls, and opening the office for business. If I was going to be working alone I would go do the banking before opening the office for the day. I would also do a lock check before opening the office as well.
During the day I would show perspective customers units, and do rentals or reserve a unit for them. I would clean the property as I went along throughout the day. I would check and file leases, banking statements, and make collection calls regarding the rent owing on units. Nearing the end of the day I would do another lock check and final sweep of the property. I would do an end of day report, and balance the float and prepare the banking deposit for the next day.
The hardest part of the job was the physical outdoor cleaning of the property. The most enjoyable was the interaction with the customers and the satisfaction of doing a job well done.

Not much are aware but Public Storage do offer part time for students and the District Manager is very helpful and understanding to adjust you a schedule for both your school and work place. In Public Storage each property is a team and family in a way, there's no one man show or ignorant procedures (You just need to take time and find the best property/ team and advisors). You learn auditing, customer services, call handling and to build up rapport with your customers and colleagues. When u join there is a 2 week training and then you'll be on working while learning realistically and a final training will be done 2 months after as a completion. It's not easy but you gotta work your way up by observing and learning - there r times u get crazy customers and unwanted issues but everything does not come that easy. I really appreciate the DM and the Property team I work with currently

Work is easy but too many things to do, No appreciation and very low pay. Start pay 14.75 $ but you are responsible for Cash, Cleaning and Calling etc etc. For everything you have to deal with the District managers and if you are not a fan then you are screwed. You will not get promotions, no pay increase and working every random days of the week. Labour laws doesn't exist here. 

Human resource manager is not listening to the staff. HR manager is just to send job posting and not to take care of people. For everything you are on your own because managers and cooperate is one team and relief mangers  and property staff opposite team.

One of the most depressing work environments I've ever experienced in my life. So many egos on the executive level fighting like children for attention that efficiency and productivity get pushed to the wayside. Most of the employees are unhappy, which creates a very negative work space. Anyone who attempts to bring a positive spirit is shunned and treated with disdain. If the current CEO responsible for creating this toxic environment retired, perhaps someone with a better attitude could take over and make some much-needed changes.

Not the best base pay, but they offer pretty good bonuses and benefits.  With all the extras, its actually better than most.  They have a drug plan that you have to pay for, but its pretty cheap.  My bonus was good and depends on what stores you get assigned to.  They have Christmas partys and stuff, and overall its fun.  They have a RRSP matching thing, which is like free money.  I did not pout money in it, but i wih i did now.  Not alot of people working at one place, so it can be a little lonely, but for me was good.  I would recommend for sure.

Used to be a great place to work in Toronto, but management doesn't care. The person in charge, who was a lousy District Manager, can't be trusted; Lies to everyone (EVERYONE!) in the organization. 

If the new owners only new what he's been up to the last few years, they would remove him.

They got rid of the only person who cared about the employees a few years ago....but since he left the place is run down and competitors have taken advantage of the lack of management.

2 weeks vacation!!! 3 weeks after 5 years....Are you kidding!

Worked for a company, we had company records for occupancy( 95.8% average for the entire year great is considered 92% and never in the winter we did it only two of us ) made 18% more profit than the year before, but alas for the month of February you only got two google reviews instead of the three we require for each month(after they the company got google to remove two ) so no bonus for you, the district mangers do everything on their employee evaluation to make sure you get minimum raise this is a national company

Toxic environment l, Hr is involved into everything even call centre meeting telling people how to answer the calls

Overworked unappreciated, they constantly want more with low pay

Working as a Property Manager at one of the Mississauga location since 2014. Good pay with great benefits. Job includes Administration, some accounting, customer service, little bit maintenance/cleaning etc. Very relaxing with less stress, lovely atmosphere, Management/District Managers are very accommodating and always ready to help. Great chances for the promotion.
