If you're looking for a job with any type of security, look elsewhere. There are at least 5 employees that are either fired or just quit altogether nearly every single week that I work there. There is a complete divide between head office management and employees. I'm not going to bring up names, but if you even look at certain people wrong at the head office, you will be let go. There is next to no training, and you will be repeatedly reprimanded for not knowing how to do something that you weren't even provided training for. Employees come up to me on a daily basis wondering when it's their turn to be let go, and I don't know what to say to them because I wonder the same. I've lost count of the number of employees that tell me that everyone in senior-level management is so unapproachable and rude. I'm not going to bring up names, but it's constantly the same 2-3 staff that employees have problems with, and these 2-3 staff will never be let go because of the clique they have. As a result, it's the dozens and dozens of employees that are let go instead of getting to the root of the problem.

If you don't want to work for an agency that runs itself on office politics and cliques, stay far away from this place. Even if you are doing a good job, you will only hear about the times that you are doing a bad job. Employees have told me there almost feels like a veil of negativity shrouded around the head office. If two or three employees have the same negative opinion about the management and company they work for, sure, that could be a coincidence. But when literally every single employee that you have spoken with says the same negative things about this company, then you know there is something wrong...

The clients and most of the direct support workers are amazing! Unfortunately management not so much. I was first attracted to Pulford because of all the “ people first” stuff they preach. The front lines are an extremely different story. You can’t have consistency for the people you are supposed to serve when you treat your staff like garbage and have a huge turn over rate. The people they serve thrive on consistency and are definitely not being cared for the way Pulford makes it seem on paper. Management also expects staff to do things that are way beyond their  job scope, abilities and pay grade. They hire a lot of immigrant workers who get taken advantage of because they don’t know their rights under the employment standards. They don’t even let their staff call in sick, you have to find a replacement or go in. How safe is that right now with covid. I would never recommend working here or putting a loved one into their care. 

A typical day would be supporting individuals in everyday life to become independent.. Making sure of their safety and their involvement in the community. Example: Helping them find work. All aspects of office work, scheduling, payroll, correspondence, appointments, finances, logs, medications etc.
I learned that everyone has rights and should be allowed to voice them. The management team at Pulford are excellent, always willing to help or find the answers, stand behind there employees and the individuals that are receiving support. My co-workers were very caring people that had your back and worked as a team. The hardest part of the job was actually staff and having to reprimand them if they did not follow policies and procedures. It was also having to leave that job.The most enjoyable part was watching individuals become independent. Then you knew you were doing a good job.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with a company that left me utterly disappointed. It's evident that they prioritize hiring friends and family over qualified professionals, resulting in a work environment that lacks competence and integrity. Shady business practices, including questionable decision-making and unethical conduct, cast a dark shadow over their operations. Steer clear of this company to avoid frustration and potential ethical concerns.

The company's disregard for fair hiring practices not only compromises the quality of their workforce but also fosters an unhealthy work culture. Nepotism and favoritism are prevalent, creating an environment where merit is overlooked in favor of personal connections. This not only hampers productivity but also stifles innovation and creativity.

Pulford has some great Managers who ensure the needs of the individual supported are first and foremost. I learned that no matter what happens during the work day, people must come first in this work environment, because without that, an organization can loose focus of their mission. My colleagues were committed and often went beyond their work requirements to assist others and to ensure a healthy flow for the organization.The best part of the job was the people I worked with and the people we supported. There wasn't a day without challenges, but we could go home knowing that we had helped someone that day and often in a very significant way.

Enjoyable experience with the people i supported, lots of experience learning how to deal with intellectual disability but they do not focus on teaching what is needed to help autistic, schizophrenic or blind and non-verbal clients. No training given beforehand and you are expected to figure out how to manage the clients on your own. Many co-workers could not do their job description right and the company supports lazy workers as long as they are working full-time.

It was a great place to work for the people are caring and had opportunity to grow with the company . A typical day was getting the individuals up and ready for the day help with breakfast and bathing .if they had doctors or etc for appointments I would take them or if needed a appointment I would make them . Get them involved in there communities whether it would be bowling or just going for coffee .

management is either overbearing and unprofessional or aloof. upper management staff seems to be new and high turnover is obvious from the jump. the clients are the only good thing about the job and the flexible hours. you can work at any time if that matters to u. mornings, midday, evening, overnight. dont know if thats a plus or a con it depends on you. pay is so close to minimum and ot starts after 12 hrs. very bad pay. and in most homes you have to change adult diapers and provide showers etc. 

A typical day at work was an early and well organized start to the day, ensuring that the individuals to whom we were providing care was on well taken care of and attended their respective activities.
Management at the time was good.
The hard part of the job was the heavy lifting of person of disability.
The most enjoyable part was to get to know each individually.

Management consists of people with people who are a clique and are only concerned with their own personal benefits and agenda.
If you are not part of the clique, you will be miserable and very unhappy.

There is lack of training and support. The director of services and Executive director both have no clue what they are doing. Turnover is so high. You are better looking for employment elsewhere.
