I worked at the Kanata location for almost 2 years and loved it! Lots of hours, busy shifts (never bored), great training,  above minimum wage pay as well as tips, really enjoyed working here! The teamwork and employee respect was amazing, we all got along well. Scheduling and booking time off was all done through an app which made it very easy and management always understood employees had lives outside of work! Food was amazing and staff ate for free, we also did staff outings that were great for building teamwork and friendships. Hours were based on employee desires so the schedule was flexible and allows for whatever work-life balance each employee wanted. Customers sometimes were difficult but the pk team and management always made it easy. Highly recommend working here!

Do NOT take on extra work before you ask for more money. They will milk you for all your worth without giving you anything. Employee turnover is higher than I saw at McDonalds because the job is exhausting and they don't appreciate the work you do. They can afford to spend 10's of thousands of dollars on unnecessary upgrades to the restaurant during the pamdemic, but they can't afford to give a decent raise or pay a living wage. They took away our benefits and reduced our tip out %, but they gave us Wellness Wednesday mental health tips so there's that.. yay (too bad we were all working during it so none of us could partake).

Overall, would not work there. The coworkers are great, but management treats you like garbage.

You'd be surprised to find out that most front of house servers at Pure Kitchen are absolutely cut throat and greedy, more than any place I've worked. Tip out is also very high. They talk about being a fair and caring employer but it is a facade, do not go to management if you have a problem with anything. Management/supervisors are underqualified and the owners are inexperienced with how a restaurant should be run. 
Money can be good but you're definitely working for it - very low bills but consistent table turning. They have great support staff but a lot of servers will hog them unfortunately.

Truly not great people to work for - I will only recommend working there if you show up, do your job and leave. Money was okay but the amount of work is excessive. They even had servers scrubbing toilets, scrubbing bases of tables nightly on top of sweeping and mopping because they wouldn't pay their cleaners enough to want to do the job. Tip out is very high. There are much better places to work in Ottawa. Even if you're veg/vegan, you're better off elsewhere because their morals do not line up and are not very "pure"

- pure kitchen is a job for kitchen staff just learning the ropes of the industry, the place is very high volume and if you can’t keep up with it, you won’t last long there. The kitchen is incredibly hot to the point you won’t want to work in the summer as well as many other jobs you aren’t paid the right amount for the labour you do. Their payroll system is garbage sometimes you aren’t paid properly. Good job for starting out but if you have real kitchen experience this is not the job for you

Ever since management changed over in 2024, the place has not been the same. They care more about making money then customers or long time employees. The pay is below the standard for all levels of employment and benefits were taken away during covid and never replaced. 
The manager at the Westboro location plays favorites and has caused many long time good employees to leave due to micromanaging and unfair practices.


I worked at Pure for 3 years and it’s probably the worst job I’ve had. Management is very passive aggressive and not open to suggestions. The owners don’t know what going on in the business half the time. I’ve seen one of the owners on numerous occasions yell at employees, which is un expectable. I would never recommend anyone to work here and would try to steer my friends away from applying.

The job is fairly easy, but the lack of organization is a joke. Some weeks I didnt know what my shifts were till 5 hours before starting on Monday, and there is nothing to really take away. The company had a great mission, but its executed so poorly that it's discouraging to work there. I worked for 4 months and dipped out pronto!

Two faced, passive aggressive leadership. Holds double standards and picks favourites. Top heavy mgmt, too many managers doing too little and providing negative value. Company is struggling to make ends meet, and does not value hard work. Pay is abysmal, performance reviews are regularly 6 months + late. Pay is far below industry standard especially for what they ask of you.

Expect a positive atmosphere full of talented hospitality coworkers. The owners of the restaurant are amazing people, and really care about the wellness of the people who work for them.
