When I was hired it was a fun and cooperative environment, the staff was great, there was great support and customers always came first. Sale goals were fun to hit. At some point though they switched management, and started to clear out the original team. Unfortunately, the current Red Deer manager likes to bully the staff; even customers see this and get uncomfortable because of it.
A typical day is assisting with purchases, and ringing customers through the till. I learned materials, products, and helpful service. The days can be slow, or fast, depending on how busy the mall is. Hardest part of the job was Sales goals after the environment shifted, every person walking through the door is digitally counted (Including small children running back and forth through the entrance and shooting your supposed "targets" into space). It's not commission, but the staff competition shot up as if it was. The most enjoyable part of the job for me was getting to experience a customer's joy when they would return to tell us how perfect the bedding was for them.

A typical day is very slow, there aren't many customers so things become very dull. The hardest part of the job is when you first start you are expected to learn everything there is to know about their sheets and products in a matter of days, not weeks, not months, days. When they say it is a lot of information, they aren't lying, you practically have to live and breathe their product information. Otherwise you will be let go, there is no second chances, if they see that you are struggling they will cut you loose. I wouldn't recommend this job to those who struggle with learning disabilities.

Very human, down-to-earth, team-oriented company. A lot of hard work, but it's appreciated and rewarded. They encourage you to think creatively outside the box and try new things. It's a great company for people who are self-motivated and have an entrepreneurial bent to them. Not good if you simply like to take instruction and just want a run-of-the-mill type of job. If you work well on collaborative projects with all different kinds of personalities, then it's a good company for you; if you prefer to simply isolate yourself and work by yourself, then it may not be a good fit for you.

This company has the right idea how to make amazing bedding and how to push the envelope without putting huge costs on great quality linens.
No one was perfect and yet the owners and upper management were very willing to work with the employees respectfully and have honest conversations without using any manipulative tactics. 
They were constantly trying to streamline processes and keep the computer programs up-to-date with the rest of the world. 
I moved up in the company quite quickly and found that the respect was very rewarding.

The products available to sell are great, but the environment in which to sell them is depressing. 

Manager and existing staff don't follow any of the "selling rules" set out by the company so training was very confusing.

Although it's a retail store, casual conversations with the customer is discouraged, especially if the customer "belonged" to another staff. 

No commission, but Manager decides who deserves bonus pay if the sales month goal is achieved. 

Manager changed hours within 24 hours notice, although the policy is 48 hours.

If you have a fun and energetic personality, stay clear from this store. 


The items are great quality but somewhat outdated and not very current. They are a smaller company and sales can be low. If you help people learn as well and understand the quality of the product then your sales are easy to come by. Sometimes overpriced and the way their pricing model works is frequent overpriced items and huge ever changing discounts. They also have little turn over seasonally and often carry the same products for years.

The manager here was just straight up racist, you could tell which customers she would rather focus on based off how rich they look and their race and she was usually annoyed with older Asian women very easily. As someone that has immigrant parents I hated to see other people of colour being treated this way. and the first month I worked there I did not once get a break because a break was only for those with 5+ hour shifts and she would always make sure by shifts were 4 hours and 30 mins. 

Don't bother to work here, the management team here is not supportive at all . Too much hustle and labor work with the little wages they paid you, it is a shame. (They always ask you to recommend the most expensive product but not the right product to customers, regardless if they can afford or not....when you sale cheap products sometimes they gonna tell you "it's not good for company,this gonna lower money transaction") By the way their "full time" is only 28-29hours, lol, purely ridiculous. 

QE Home was a wonderful place to work! Enjoyed working with the team helping the customers! Unfortunately I had to quit, do to contact dermatitis from either a supplement I had to take or something else. I ended up on medical leave and had to unfortunately quit. But QE Home was a great place to work! Loved selling linens and bedding! So fun! 


Typical retail, customer service, stock shelves, team building, etc....
The customers are the best thing about this position and most of the team were friendly.
Upper management is the problem, this is why there is so much turnover, too much micromanaging going on. When upper management thinks their team is useless without them in the store...this is unfortunately why the team is generally unhappy and look to leave.
