Being given random calls for pickup and delivery can always be an adventure.  One never knows what the day will bring.

A good driver always notes quick ways to avoid heavy traffic and accidents by learning short-cuts and lesser travelled routes. 

Management in the courier business can make or break a driver.  Favouritism by the dispatcher is often a problem.  Seeing that earnings are determined by the number and quality of pickups given, a dispatcher determines the driver's financial outcome of the day.

Co-workers in such a competitive environment can become good friends or enemies depending on the character of those around you.  It is easy for some drivers to become jealous if they feel they are being mistreated by management in comparison to other who are given much work.

The hardest part of the job is waiting for calls.  A drivers financial outcome depends on the amount of calls placed by clients on that particular day.  Management has little control over such. 

The most enjoyable part of the job is being able to deliver packages on time when the clock is ticking and the traffic is bad.  Also, one gets a particular good feeling when the workload is heavy and the day turns out to be financially great!

If all you do is inventory rework or order picking, the place is mediocre with decent enough pay. The break room is a dirty, tiny dept mail slot room with a few broken chairs, a round table and a microwave. Not remotely sufficient for all the ppl they hire.

But if you're set (temp worker usually) to manually unload trailers and palletize products, it's exhausting, frustrating, unprofessional exploitation of low income ppl. in the summer, I would sweat to the point of heat stroke while lifting heavy boxes out a trailer and onto a conveyor, and when I rarely sought to be switched out (as my water was empty and I know when I'm risking it) they would tell me to go a little longer, multiple times. I stepped out and ignored them cause I'm not risking my health for some teen girl clothing, soaps, sports jerseys, or mildly heavy appliances. They didn't keep me long due to that. The supervising staff are mostly a bunch of 20-somethings that barely teach you what to do, ignore 1/2 the lazy workers, and criticize the good ones, as you all palletize 40 diff products, scan, wrap, pump truck pull em to staging, and repeat. Have no concern of your exhaustion midday onward as they sit on a forklift all shift. Will insist you work longer, even if you can't. And certainly don't show any respect if you work harder or do as much overtime as possible.

All located in a remote space East of Pearson that u wouldn't like to go so far to reach.

Very little. There is not much beyond the pay cheque

Total lack of support from management 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Total confusion with all managers blaming eachother to save themselves. There is no respect for workers. Very little honesty from management.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Come in and find out that what you were told to expect is not happening, wait until management figures things out then rush to catch up. Always working to correct management issues and changes

Highly do not recommend working here. They will promise you a certain wage upon your review. The review will never come. When you inquire enough to get them to finally review your performance, they will low ball you and make you feel like a failure so that when they offer you little to no additional money, you feel that they’re right. 

Management doesn’t appreciate employees. Lots of back stabbing and wrong doings. Working for this company is guaranteed to make you feel lower than dirt and destroy any confidence you had before starting there

Was a great place to work at 15 years ago when drivers got respect

Lack of respect for drivers ,they do not give drivers the fuel allowance 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Getting called the night before and told that there is no work for you tomorrow then waiting for the next day

Management is very accommodating and appreciative which is a change of pace for once. Pay was 18 in Ontario which is pretty good for the work you do. Worst part was the building cause every second time we swept the floors the fire alarm would go of with minimal amount of dust so sometimes you have to wait outside during ur shift for the fire department to clear the building but that could just be smiths falls branch.

Worst place ever to work at.
Dispatch is extremely rude to the drivers,threatening their jobs if they don't do last minute pick up.
Management is a complete joke,no clue how to manage people or their business. 
They treat their employees terribly, and don't care about anything but the bottom line.
Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place,you will regret working there.

There was no culture, and the work environment was garbage

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Doing everything that was not my job, as well as my job.

In 2 years, I've seen over 15 supervisors, managers and leads quit or get fired.  If they got fired, it was on purpose so they could go on EI.  Upper management and HR (like a lot of companies nowadays) like to hire cheap immigrant labor with no experience, certification, work ethic or respect.  When they fail to meet targets, they penalize the front-line leadership.  So then you have the inmates running the asylum, because they think they can do no wrong.

Horrible management, no one listens to your wants and or needs,no benefits, no diesel program no nothing. Owner operators have to pay for everything out of pocket. The pay is not that great and if your a new driver forget about it, your getting the scraps. The owners only care about one thing and thats getting richer. My best way to describe qrc is that it’s a plantation.
