I've been at Qualico for a few years now and it amazes me how much time and care they put into developing their staff. I've had professional membership fees paid, continuing education paid for and lots of career chats with my Manager, so I know my options for advancement.  I've seen quite a few colleagues complete a Leadership Development program where they travel for a week for a course. They recently introduced a mentorship program and I've had one of the charities I support get a cheque for $1,000 as part of the Acts of Kindness program. It's obvious they care about the communities where we build. Just today they announced a $1.25 million gift to Red River Polytech for expand the Introduction to Trades program — helping more Indigenous learners gain hands-on skills and direct entry into the College trades program of their choice. I think it's important to work for a company where your values align. KEep up the great work, Qualico!

I joined the organization in November 2020, during some of the toughest lockdowns in our province. I was provided with all the tools I need to do my job from home. I know that not all roles within the company allow for remote work, and in those cases, the additional safety measures are in place. My team is very collaborative and productive, and my boss trusts me to get the work done, even with my kids doing remote learning since schools have closed. I'm impressed at the learning & development opportunities available; commitment to employee wellness; and corporate social responsibility. There are a lot of long-service employees here, and I hope to be one of them, one day!

What is the best part of working at the company?
Don’t listen to workers opinions and when they do nothing is addressed on the concerns as well as promotions seam to work off a buddy system

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The field workers are over worked and underpaid 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment is high demand and high stress with little appreciation to the field staff but all field management ( supers/Forman’s)are very good, understanding and helpful 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
High stress and high demand also anxiety from certain people in upper management cause to site staff

I joined Qualico during the pandemic, and worked from home for the first bit. Now back in the office, I'm happy to have a variety of opportunities to engage with my colleagues from different business units. The Health & Wellness committee has set up some great events including Therapy Dog sessions, 10 minute massages, yoga classes, a book club, and a walking club in the summer months. The Ball Hockey tournament/fundraiser was a lot of fun and we had some special treats to share when the Jets were in the playoffs. Because of events like this, I'm more comfortable chatting with people in the lunchroom and gym and it has become a very friendly place to work!

Qualico cares about their employees! I've worked there for 6 years, and have always felt supported in my career progression. Great work/life balance and they offer many great perks and fun activities over lunch hours and after work. I have met some of my best friends at the company and learn something new every day. They are not afraid to invest in their employees, including ongoing training, travel and more. 

They expect you to work beyond expectations, long hours, horrible management and toxic environment. Most of all upper management who don’t give any thought of who you are and think of you as people who are easily replaced! Huge workload for minimal pay -  over worked and underpaid. They expect you to work overtime without paying you and colleagues are very rude and overall culture is very bad.




This company really cares about its people and has a great company culture. There are a lot of fun team events and opportunities to learn and develop. I have made some great friends here and over the years have had many opportunities to grow my knowledge by taking courses and progressing in the organization. 

Peers are okay. Don't expect competitive pay or good benefits. Don't expect any support from management or HR. I'm sure they give themselves bonuses, but none to their staff at christmas. but it's ok because they throw summer BBQs in the parking lot (which employees have to pay for)

Wonderful company with great people. Highly recommend taking the opportunity to work with them. They are concerned about building an atmosphere for your success. Great core values and a fantastic support team behind every operating Division. The operations end is very efficient. As far as training hey have very seasoned people positioned to guide the new recruits.

There was no typical day, everything changed and it was fast paced.  It was great place to work until a change in manager, then the games started.  The trust is gone, the culture is damaged and there is no work life balance.  If you aren’t one of the favourites you will never get anywhere.
