Quartz Contracting

So, you work alone, but you are also on a team. Sometimes there are contests with other parks. Swimming is great in the off time, fishing is a must. Having to work with campers... customer service is a big part of the job. Security is pretty quiet, sometimes you see a lynx, or some kids are drinking at the beach and you have to tell them to go to a site. Working with co-workers is huge. You have to work well with your fellow cabin people, you live together for 10 day shifts. If you don't do well in group accommodation, this is not the job for you. If you don't like the outdoors this is NOT the job for you.  the employers are kinda chaotic, but super flexible. I had to take three weeks off in the middle of the summer for a family emergency and they were really good about it. I worked for a couple of years when i was going to university and moved to a few parks. They are all super different, some big teams, some places are like a 2 person job. they will set you up and train you but if after a month you can't organize your own day and actually do stuff by yourself they will probably let you go.  its super physically active. in june the bugs get bad.

Working for Quartz Contracting the last 3 seasons has been a great experience. Ive learned alot on the operation and maintenance of park structures, landscaping, small engine equipment, work truck (the list goes on). The management are great people to work for, they take good care of their employees especially if you work hard. Decent pay, opportunity for raises, and great perks. If you are one who thrives on independence and self motivation, who enjoys setting up your own day and getting lots of different tasks done daily. It's rewarding work. The parks are beautiful, working and living outdoors all summer is amazing. Working with the campers is always interesting and fun. Staff accommodations are basic and rustic. Some days require long hours/split shifts, and alot of physical effort. I was able to work at over 5 of their different provincial parks. I would highly recommend working for Quartz Contracting Ltd. 

This family run business is a hoot to work for. The family is really cool and professional. They train you really well. It was honestly a highly enjoyable job.If you are passionate about BC parks and want to work for awesome people this is the job for you. They are flexible working with your schedule, they respond quickly to employee questions, and treat their employees well. The staff are generally really awesome people, and you end up becoming really good friends with them. I have recommended this company lots of my friends, and I recommend it to you as well.

If you're enjoying the outdoors and want to be responsible for a Provincial Park in BC, Quartz Contracting is your best bet.

Very friendly family business owners, always having an open ear for their employees, motivational and supporting.

It's truly a team, and if you are committed to your work it'll be rewarded and you will feel proud to be a part of Quartz Contracting.

Horrible experience and more so because of management or lack thereof! The work is endless and no safety guidelines are followed whatsoever! Management is poor, office is in shambles and disorganized nothing is done by the books including the handling of the money from camper's etc! Sad I must say, BC Parks should hire someone else to do the contract as they obviously can't!!

The hardest part of the job is living in the outdoors, mostly out of cell service. You get to be part of a team, so you have to get along with people.

On the first day I received no training, and two weeks later was fired for missing things that I had no idea that I was supposed to be doing. Worst job experience I've ever had. They don't pay over time, and tell you that you can only log 8 hrs per day, but expect you to work around the clock.

Stay clear of  this employer. 
Family run , accommodations are well umm.
They dont pay overtime because you are seasonal
Very clicky worksite the family will try to intimidate in a caring  way.

If you have any skills in working independently, you get better jobs. so ifyou are good at things they let you run them. Its a super chill summer job.

My wife and I worked for quartz, it was great.
We met a lot of new people and we are outdoor people so the job and location where great.  Sowchea bay and Parrens Beach are great places to visit.
