Quayles Brewery

Quayle's is a great place to work for a summer job. The staff are lovely, and there is a strong sense of community. I would look forward to coming to work because there was such a positive atmosphere. It was hard but fair work, and I felt adequately compensated with the combination of hourly wages + tips. Management is present but not overbearing and instills a sense of confidence in staff through leading by example. I also felt comfortable asking for time off or to adjust my shifts if unexpected things came up. Overall, I was pleased with my experience working at Quayle's Brewery and I would recommend it to others!

There is no planning, everything is rushed and hectic.
The markets were a nightmare to work, as well as any event because nothing is done until the very last second. 
The kitchen runs out of food often so you have annoyed guests.
The owners don’t want to take any feedback or suggestions, and the “managers” became them by default not by experience because they are the longer termed employees.
You don’t get breaks, tips are pooled, and they don’t even give you non alcoholic drinks. 

There’s no fun training for staff - they provide beer notes and no discussion. You’ll hear the common phrase “that’s my favourite “ from employees that have never tried the beer.

I don’t know how it’s legal to not be given breaks, especially if you work open to close.
In the summer in the extreme heat they don’t even give you free non alcoholic drinks to keep you cool. 
There are no perks except for a very minor discount and one free drink after your shift. Sometimes you get brought in expired candy as a treat. 
The culture is toxic.
They sing you praises if they need something and yell at you if you don’t.
I’ve never seen so many people cry in a workplace.

The owners have no experience and it shows.

I've never experienced a more toxic work environment in all my years in the industry. The owners are all about profits at any cost and that cost is unfortunately the well being of the staff. It's a beautiful place and the customers for the most part are great but no matter what you do is never enough for ownership. They hire predominantly young people because they don't know any better and they cross the line daily with unsafe practices. Luckily I only did a few shifts and saw through the facade. 

I enjoyed my time working as a cook at Quayle's Brewery. The kitchen is well-equipped and efficiently organized, allowing for smooth and seamless service even during peak hours. The management at Quayle's Brewery truly values their employees. They recognize and appreciate our hard work. Quayle's has a fantastic work-life balance. The management understands the importance of personal time and strives to create schedules that allow us to have a fulfilling personal life outside of work. 

Sometimes the job can be boring and other days you’ll be run off your feet. Tips are fine as they’re pooled.. but nothing like you’d get if you were waiting tables. A lot more organization has happened over the last year which was wonderful! Generally a good group of employees.

Don’t expect to make bank working here. Tips are pooled and you’ll get hours in the summer and fall but not the winter. Markets are super hectic to work. One owner is chaotic and you never know if you’re going to catch them in a good or bad mood. The other employees are lovely though! 

The amount of turnover for this place is unreal, and it’s clear why.
There is no leadership, you don’t get breaks, or time to use the bathroom.
They under schedule which can have you working open to close because they write BD on the schedule.

The owners have no experience in the industry. It should be a fun place to work but it isn’t.
It’s fast paced, very high stress, and you are underpaid with no idea what the tip pool is.

They make false promises and tell you everything you want to hear about the environment during your interview.
But ask about the very high turnover or the tip pool.

When they say collaborative work environment they mean they’ll throw you into whichever area is short staffed, for very long hours. 
FOH shift then to the kitchen? They’ll keep you there open to close.

Terrible work environment. There is no leadership in any department just fast paced stress with no concern for staff or guests needs. You will rarely find the chef in the kitchen. 
The owners are unhinged with no knowledge or skills in the hospitality industry which allows unsafe conditions for staff. It’s all about the profit no matter who is hurt.
Tip pool is not transparent.
