1) A typical day at work was extremely busy relative to the size of all common areas that required constant cleaning. relative to inadequate numbers of custodial staff employed. Several more full time custodial people were needed to perform this work just to achieve basic cleaning standards of any school with just the buildings that I was responsible for at  Quest University Canada.  .

2) I learned this work venture endeavoring to assist with setting up an efficient custodial program was a real challenge due to budget issues with this new custodial department. Clear explanations of what and where all my  responsibilities  as the new Head Custodian regarding exact locations of owned or leased buildings at Quest University Canada property that didn't require custodial cleaning or basic equipment maintenance were not given to me, until after the fact. I'll describe this issue when I tell all of you about management.

3) With in the first few weeks of my appointment as head custodian, while getting new custodial cleaning procedures in place that I had witnessed being performed at other institutions successfully implemented ;My immediate micromanagement supervisor needed six weeks sick time with a leave of absence.One other person had been hired as a part time casual to cover for janitorial work on my chosen afternoons off which were Monday and Tuesday  During my supervisors absence I had a good and what I thought, clear personal or via email, information of where my custodial duties were needed from all school departments, excluding any input from the President or Vise president. All department managers and contracted security people personally told me that this was  the best they'd seen for cleaning at the University. Once my immediate manager recovered from sick time, I thanked all of the University department managers for there assistance via email as they had been at the for front of getting my work done efficiently. I was told by my manager that this communication of appreciation was unprofessional and further more I wasn't to oversee or do anymore cleaning at the leased buildings used as dormitories for students. I'd never seen common areas as unclean and dirty like those dormitory buildings. From then on I had treated in a negative way by that person.

4) My immediate co-worker was a good janitorial laborer. I found great difficulty with obtaining reliable and consistent student help for casual custodial and janitorial duties.

5) The hardest part of my job was working with limited help regarding staff and management assistance gaining that extra staff with a budget that  remained undisclosed to me.

6) The most enjoyable part of this job was when  The Dean of Quest University Canada Students to me I was Like  a Rock to her and had been doing excellent work in conjunction with all of the other University department managers saying similar comments to me.

Overall working for Quest brought was comfortable, as they usually provide you with housing on their campus (especially for summer students), which is literally right there. Although you do have to pay rent for a single room in the student's accommodation. 

As for work, when there is nothing happening during the day (no guests/conferences), it is fairly slow-paced. However, when they do come especially in large numbers, you will have to pick up a pace to be able to provide services to a lot of people. 

The management is understandable and nice to you. A bit disorganized at times, especially when one team has difficulties due to staffing shortages. Overall, be prepared to pick up the slack for others, especially during huge guest intakes.

Quest does not pay or provide well enough to support a college student in a growing, expensive place like Squamish. It is nearly impossible to save money due to the low pay, lack of benefits and cost of living in Squamish. This year there was a lot of work the maintenance team was involved in despite being under-qualified and lacking a large enough team to properly do the job at hand. This caused issues and injuries that were left unaddressed due to the fact that I could not afford to take enough time off for my personal health. However, the people who work there (both co-workers and supervisors) are very kind, understanding and excellent to work with.

In 2012 I was working at Capilano University and seized the chance to kill the commute as I live in Squamish by coming to Quest University Canada. That was over three and a half years ago and what an experience it has been. If you are thinking about applying to Quest for work or study then I wouldn't give it a second thought as Quest is second to none.

Have you ever wanted to wake up and do something you love surrounded by people that build the ideal workplace in a beautiful environment. A beautiful campus and helpful confident staff who are friendly fun and helpful make life at Quest simply one of the best places I have ever worked to date. I had to leave Quest to return to my home country but I will miss it dearly. Truly the best place I have ever worked.

I spent the best years of my professional life here. People are super helpful and want to achieve great things for the university and everyone gets the chance to contribute. If you like education, you will love Quest, I can thoroughly recommend it!

I worked with Quest Universities Admissions team full-time over the summer months and part-time during the school year. My job entailed giving tours to incoming students, maintaining an active blog, working on admissions rosters and general office inventory and upkeep.

Quest is a small liberal college and the work environment is very demanding at times. However, the work culture there is thriving. The employers tend to encourage the employees to work collaboratively and to foster a thriving culture in the workplace.

The job required you to be very productive and efficient to meet the deadlines. Nevertheless, you would get to enjoy frequent breaks that allowed you to relax and rest.

I was employed as a student and this does not apply. 

Within my capacity as a student employe, Quest University was a inspiring and energetic place to work. With many creative dedicated folks who strove to develop the best University they can.
