Quiksilver

I worked a part-time retail job for Quiksilver at the Milton Premium Outlets (in Milton, Ontario, Canada). I became interested in working for Quiksilver because I liked the company and their outdoor living stance and I already wore many of their products. Work mostly consisted of me working weekends and occasional week day shifts, ranging from 4-7 hours at a time ($11.50/hr). The job was meant to supplement my income from my seasonal work which took up my time during the regular work week (mon-friday). I was responsible for engaging customers and getting them interested in the products we carried through greeting, informing (if they showed interest), and assisting them with any concerns or needs they had. In early August I was informed short-notice by my management that my store was closing for reasons surrounding the long-term business strategy of the Quiksilver corporation administration. As I had been working for Quiksilver for 6 months I was compensated for my unexpected work termination with separation pay. All in all working at Quiksilver was one of the best jobs I've had (even if it was minimal wage/part time): the staff were friendly and easy to relate to, the work environment was stress-free whilst maintaining a degree of professionalism, and work-hours and scheduling were extremely flexible. To top it all off the company offered generous discounts for employees on products on a monthly basis.

Typical work day. Someone was always on you for something.I worked harder then any of my other coworkers and got dealt the wrong cards for terrible reasons. Management was lazy and didn't care enough to do their job or enforce others to do there's as well. Culture was very laid back and more directed to the surfer type of people (as it was a surf / skater shop) The hardest part was not getting mad at everyone while you worked your self to death and they watched netflix on there phones. The easiest part was helping the customers fine exactly what they were looking for.

For the most part, great people and such a family feel with the exception of a few. Although management twists and turns the rules to suit them at any given time. If they had favourites they may give scheduling priority to them while ignoring staff's RTO's. Training can sometimes get lost with staff at all levels.Team accomplishments go unnoticed.

Experienced serving the public while balancing tasks.  Learned a lot of details of leadership roles.  Management was inconsistent with different people managing the store at different times with long periods of no management at all.  Co-workers were mixed negative and positive.  The hardest part of the job was the large amount of incoming product on a weekly basis.  The most enjoyable part of the job was some of the positive co-workers.

I really enjoyed working at quiksilver, i met a lot of fantastic people/friends and had fun every shift i worked. my manager tanner tried to be both the boss but your friend and was very nice to his employers ! i had to try really hard to get sale because i didnt have as many hours as everyone and sometimes i still got the most sale in 2 weeks!

I have worked for the company for many years and have learnt a great deal including teaching, mentoring, leading and directing sales teams. No two days are the same with stock, customer service and merchandising being the main focus.

Fun job at first when you get the calls for deliveries. Then comes the pressure to fund their debit system with your own money. They do pay you back within a couple days but if you are not comfortable or able to put $500 - 1000 in play you soon realize you don’t get cash calls either. Also be ready to take verbal abuse.

This was the perfect fit for my lifestyle. My manager was incredibly understanding of my school schedule. We were able to work together to coordinate a suitable work schedule that made the team and myself happy.

Quiksilver Queenstown was a great job opportunity, it's an upbeat, high energy store, witch made it nearly impossible to have a bad day. Management were kind and alway helpful. Hoping to find work in a similar place in Whistler.

Quiksilver was a good company to work for, they had a lot to do with the culture and background of the company which is very cool to me. It was a great environment to learn.
