I was excited to work there as it is pretty much the top of the line in our area. 
I worked there for 3 years. 
On three different floors. 
Two part time positions and 1 temp full time. 
Part time is 45 hours every two weeks. 
You get your wage plus 14% in lieu of benefits and vacation. The problem with that is, they hire more staff than they have work lines. 
So you are legitimately fighting for those 45 hours. Now if you want to sit by your phone for last minute shifts then you can usually grab a few shifts to supplement. 
A lot of the staff are amazing and fun to work with.  However, you have a fair amount that are entitled and miserable. 
I am a firm believer that when you are unhappy at something, you should move on. If that were to happen here, it would be a completely different place to work. 
There are really confusing politics and unfortunately HR has no real interest in it. Unless it directly affects them. 
Althought there are hundreds of excellent people working there, it is foreshadowed with negativity. They even brought in civility training to try to make people nicer to one another lol. 
The motto " Don't be velcro, let it slide off like Teflon". I'm not even kidding.
It broke my interest in healthcare.

The medical-surgical (med-surg) unit I experienced was exemplary in its patient care and teamwork. Nurses demonstrated high levels of competency and compassion, effectively managing a diverse array of medical conditions. They communicated clearly with both patients and their families, ensuring everyone was informed and involved in the care process. The unit was well-organized, with efficient workflow and access to resources that enhanced patient safety and comfort. Additionally, the focus on ongoing education and professional development was evident, as nurses regularly participated in training sessions to stay updated on best practices. Overall, this med-surg unit provided a supportive environment that prioritized patient well-being and professional excellence, making it a commendable choice for nursing care.

Day is nice and calm, greeting customers with a smile and being polite/friendly.
I learned how to use a old cash machine, food safety, hospital standards and sanitizing practices
My supervisor is very knowledgeable, understanding and doesn’t mind teaching me new things; I’m lucky to have them.
Workplace culture is very diverse and all over the place. Not everyday is the same and things can change in a snap, it really keeps you on your toes. I love the diversity and the ever changing vibes.
So far, the hardest part of my job is trying to balance the till. But I’m learning and will have that down soon.
I love greeting people. I love talking to people that need a brighter day or someone to make their day better. If I can make the hospital less stressful with kindness, empathy and compassion than it’s more than worth it.

I worked a little bit everywhere with QHC and mostly at BGH. The Medecine unit and the ACE unit is quite stressful and hectic at times. You have to be really good at time management and problem solving on your own. Often you are left with not much support. Depending on who you work with too...
The most supportive unit is the ICU. Excellent team work and the doctors are mostly great to work with.
Management always needs improvement everywherr but overall is not terrible.
Benefits are great if you need them, you get a collective plan with manulife, pension plan with HOPP available and they do match contributions.
Salary is just based of collective agreement and years of experience.
Schedule is quite fix depending on the unit you work at. Icu, medecine, ace unit, emerg are mostly 12 hrs with a DDNN rotation. Rehab, bstu are 8hrs. Surg is a mix of both.

You’re either cleaning or portering, neither of them is a hard job. It can be fast pace and I preferred it that way as your day went by quickly. A lot of the full time staff would complain about having to do their jobs or getting to many cleaning jobs that part was annoying. If you work In the Quinte tower it’s ALOT of sitting if you do your job to quickly so work slowly. The full time porters are mean and often rude to the casuals making shifts with them very long and often leaving feeling defeated I would get anxiety constantly knowing I had shifts with them coming up. management seems to let these behaviours from the full time staff slide. If you keep your head down and don’t speak or trust anyone it will be fine.

Managers hire whoever they want, despite seniority or union contracts. ONA grievances are staggering, with regard to unsafe workload, unwillingness to pay OT, fire staff for ridiculous reasons, promoting incompetent managers, favouritism, back stabbing, dog eat dog culture. Lack of emphasis on education, taking pay incentives for highly educated individuals. Team leads pick their favourites, targeting those they don't 'like'. Good place to get hired to add experience to your resume, then RUN as far away from QHC as possible. The corporation is only concerned with how they look to the public; you are punished for standing up for your profession, safety and voicing concerns to the public taxpayers who pay our wages.

PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING: The people in the diagnostic booking dept are completely rude and ignorant. Especially management.  Fully be prepared to be talked down to by coworker.  Management handles conflicts and concerns EXTREMELY unprofessionally. They will always side with who has been there longer no matter what the situation. I left most nights in tears and was expected to know everything within 2 weeks. Codes, computer software, you name it. Management and team are very sarcastic and snarky. In general not a good work environment.  The only thing good about this job was the money but the money was NOT worth what I went through.  Beware!

BGH is a good place to be exposed to a multitude of different patient cases on a medicine floor. The co-workers i had were more times great than not. The staff really come together to give the best care to their patients. However, the management here is so so bad, i cant stress it enough. I have worked in multiple hospitals, and i have never had anything come even close to how bad BGH is. Management was not supportive, put staff and patients in dangerous situations, never lend a hand, aren't flexible with the schedule, do not care about you or your well being, they harass you when sick , i just cant stress enough how bad it is here. Youll love the patients, and the people, youll RUN due to burnout. 

Over the years I have worked in a variety of departments as a registered nurse and have met a number of incredibly talented and exceptional individuals. Collectively, these individuals are the ingredients of an amazing team. Quinte Healthcare holds true to its vision and values. There are plenty of opportunities for advancement within this corporation as they have an innovative mindset and appreciate forward thinkers. I am grateful for all of the experiences I have had at QHC, as they have helped shape my nursing practice and encouraged me to pursue my Nurse Practitioner education. 

It was okay place to work if you enjoy being burnt out. If you’re in the resource pool for PSW they’ll ship you to any one of the 4 hospitals. Trenton is very cliquey so if you don’t fit in, you’ll be backstabbed for sure. Belleville good depending on what floor you’re on. Picton is lovely! If you’re hired temp, watch yourself because you’re basically the bottom of the barrel and everyone will pick on you. Minimum 12hr shifts and they’ll literally let you work yourself to death. No work life balance at all. They say you’re part time but schedule you 72 hours in 2 weeks.
