Worked here for over 2 years and I don’t have much good to say. Not enough training before they throw you to the sharks. Constant turnover, and no ownership of clients so they get upset when they get a new broker every time they call. Three weeks vacation but it can be hard to get time off to use it. Not much flexibility if you have doctor’s appointments etc, they advise you should book them outside of work hours. They also have a policy to ask why you’re calling off sick, and to strongly encourage you to work from home while sick instead. You’d also have to work 12-8pm once a week and you have to work Saturday sometimes. They don’t care about your life outside work, and they really do not care if you have a family. No respect for daycare hours, unexpectedly sick children and especially uncaring to single parents. They also don’t understand mandated leaves by the government, and they will not show empathy if you are truly in need. Many times I received empty promises that it was clear they never intended to fulfill. Turnover here is incredibly high, and within a day of working on the floor here you’ll know why. This is a call centre where you will not have the resources you need to learn or solve problems. They do not respect work life balance and they do not care about you. All they care about is if you can serve 3+ customers per hour, and keep your calls short. One pro is that benefits are paid by them. 

I started at KTX/Kanetix in the beginning of 2019. I worked there for 2 years, right through until February of this year. I had already had a strong sales acumen, so the transition for me was easy enough. The hardest part of the job is time management. If you don’t stay organized, you can find yourself buried in work and doing it on your own time. The people that complain about having to put in extra hours are the ones that don’t stay on top of their tasks and let things go. Management was great, my TL changed twice in my time there, and I found that it was great to see different management styles. The upper brass is actually involved with the staff, they make you feel like you’re actually important to them and not just a number. Their training program and onboarding system is absolutely amazing. They take the time to help you understand what you’re doing. I was there since nearly the beginning of their expansion and had I not been offered a management opportunity in the field I originally came from, I wouldn’t have left. I miss the people I work with, you really do become family. 

All in all, this is a great place to work. And an amazing opportunity for someone that’s just starting into a professional career. I would recommend KTX to anyone. 

Honestly the worst experience I've ever had working for a company. Things promised or discussed in initial interviews that made the place sound great were very quickly pulled away from the employees. Upper management whole heartedly supports and encourages shady sales practices while reprimanding people who are trying to do the job correctly. On top of that, they are incredibly out of touch with their clientele. They believe everyone who calls in wants to buy insurance from us. Meanwhile Ratesdotca is calling people and lying to them about discounts and coercing them to speak with a broker any way they can. I don't know how many times I received a call and was told "I was just running quotes online, your price is way too high" and then would get in trouble for not selling the policy. Or people call in with their quote online at $1200/year thinking it's great but when reports are run their price increases to $2800/year because they put nonsense in the website. Once again, falls back on us for not selling. It's a bait and switch model that encourages being shady. Avoid at all costs. 


My favourite of the several companies I've worked for, a truly respectful, humane and collaborative experience. That may not mean much to you unless you've experienced first hand the nasty inter-departmental warfare typical of life at many large corporations.  
I think this culture flows from company being small enough to be a village, and also from the executives to a degree; that they also appreciate and foster the culture and are willing to compromise with each other for the greater good of the company.  I think divisiveness in an org often comes from conflict at the top.

So yes... it's staid old insurance and finance work, but our services are at the leading edge of innovation in the industry and are genuinely helpful to our users - we save them real money. 
Yes we sometimes have some stress trying to hit deadlines, but even in those times we respect work life balance pretty well.
And we have some legacy code but are actively replacing it with cutting edge tech.  Our internal direction is clear.

It's a pretty interesting time to join right now, lots going on as we evolve.


- middle management is hit or miss
- call center environment makes it hard to follow up with client and provide the level of service that is expected
- work hours are inconsistent, different schedule almost every week 
- a lot of unpaid overtime is required to keep up on tasks that there is no time to do during the day 
- free alcohol creates a lot of peer pressure to drink during the work day
- workplace drama is common
- great training program and ability to obtain RIBO license, but unrealistic view on how it is when you get out of training
- great coworkers 
- not uncommon to see a coworker cry during the work day 
- pay bumps are based on stats that can sometimes be hard to control, but if you are able to hit them you can progress quickly in pay in your first year
- vacation time is extremely hard to book, and you don't know whether or not you successfully got it off until a few weeks in advance 
- organization direction changes a lot
- great to start a career as you learn a lot about the industry 


- Everyday here is not what you expect and plan so it is challenging and providing opportunity to test yourself.
- The management team is reachable, very supportive, always willing to listen, and considering of your opinions.
- The work culture here is fast pace, collaborative and at times can be stressful but all in all very balanced. Deadlines need to be hit but long hours are not expected and not the norm. 

-   The people here are amazing, the (pre-covid) social events, lunches, bbqs all had a family and friends gathering vibe.  Since covid the leadership was quick to react to move to WFH or make the necessary changes to keep everyone safe for those that could not. Random surprise gift packages have been very nice little pick me ups during this tough covid period.
- Love the Toronto office location and can't wait to be back once we get past this covid period. Perfect if you love food!

All in all this is a fantastic company that I have no issues recommending if you like to challenge yourself in a very balanced worklife with amazing people.  

If you have a job do yourself a favour and stay. If you don’t have a job - I guess it’s a foot in the door. Like another review said get your RIBO licence and run. I have noticed a steady decline in the culture over the past 2 years working here it just isn’t the same. Unrealistic targets, micromanaged, lack of care for staff and being underpaid are the big issues. Lunch and socials is cool but pizza and alcohol won’t buy loyalty or minimize all the problems. Respect, fair pay, more involved team leads and managers, more positivity and better working conditions will be the only way to turn this company around. Recently more and more have been leaving the company and that has raised red flags. Many are noticing and looking to get out of this sinking ship. I see the regret often in new hires faces when they realize what they got themselves into. I write this review so someone does not make the same mistake that I did. If you have a good job, dont risk it for this company

This was a career change for me and the last one I'll ever need to make. I have been welcomed with open arms, guided with training, support and feedback. Flexibility to work from home. This company is always out for the employee whether it's a group event, ensuring job satisfaction, making sure you're having a good time, constantly learning, room for advancement or even making sure you're in the right department for your needs.
I love that we're always in the know. The only surprises are the ones that are for you - a special gift, an employee appreciation event or news about the company to excite everyone.

RATESDOTCA is an excellent company to work for. A typical day consists of answering phone calls and emails from clients regarding their policies-servicing changes. We also write new policies for clients to try to save them some money by either bundling or moving to another insurance company.
RATESDOTCA still provides me with continuous training and development to help grow my career; each team lead provides weekly feedback to assist with this process.
The people here are fantastic; we all want each other to succeed and help out as much as possible; knowledge is power. We all work together and share our knowledge with each other to better the experience for the next client and broker. This industry is ever-changing; thus, I learn something new everyday.

Kanetix hired me for a broker class in March. Needed a 75 to pass the test, but got a 73. Shared with trainer(we got results emailed to us by accident a day ahead ) and he said he would talk to management to keep me in the class. Me and 3 others ( class of 16) let go the next day. Trainer didn’t even try to keep me. Girl with a 74 was kept on for a rewrite. Director of training is a hot head. RIBO class has nobody from company sitting in on it so there are multiple distractions. No HR on site in Welland. Looks like 3 or 4 people I knew have already left Kanetix for a real insurance company. One mark off on that test ended my time there. They called me back for Ambassador role, but declined me. I want to say more but have moved on. This company likely will ramp up and layoff at some point.
