I’ve had the opportunity to work at this organization for a meaningful period of time, and one of the most remarkable aspects of my experience has been the people. Simply put, the staff here are some of the most helpful, compassionate, and genuinely supportive individuals I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.

From day one, I felt welcomed and respected. There was no sense of hierarchy or unapproachability — everyone, from management to coworkers, was eager to offer a helping hand. Whether it was answering questions, explaining procedures, or stepping in during a busy shift, the culture here thrives on teamwork and shared responsibility. There is a collective understanding that we’re all in this together, and that mindset creates a safe and encouraging atmosphere.

I’ve worked in other places where asking for help felt like a weakness or inconvenience, but here, it’s the opposite. Questions are welcomed, learning is encouraged, and no one is ever made to feel less than for needing guidance. Senior team members go out of their way to mentor newer employees, and there's a real sense of pride in helping others grow.

Another aspect I’ve truly appreciated is how communication is handled. If there’s an issue, concern, or even just a suggestion, it’s listened to. The leadership team is approachable and receptive, often going out of their way to ensure you feel heard. They don’t just listen — they act on feedback and follow up with you, which is a rarity in many work environments.

This culture of helpfulness extends beyond daily tasks. Whether you’re struggling with something personally, or need flexibility to manage life outside of work, people step up. They check in. They cover for one another. It feels less like a workplace and more like a community that genuinely wants the best for each member.

In short, if you’re looking for a workplace where people lift each other up, share knowledge freely, and treat kindness as a core value rather than an afterthought, this is the place. It’s not just a job — it’s a place where you’re allowed to learn, grow, and feel supported every step of the way.

This was my first ever job and had been there for 5 years and only now have I realized it paid me very little to the amount of work that I did. 

The main gripes I had with this place was that Over time was basically forced, Gratuities are never distributed to employees, and breaks were never guaranteed. 

The point I really want to drive home was the fact that gratuities are apart of event bills yet employees don't see a penny from it. On top of that having a tip jar is not allowed, in what establishment that has some form of guest service don't allow tip jars? Especially bartenders? Its ridiculous. 

To top it off their CREATE philosophy has  no consideration for the employee and solely focuses on the client and guest. I understand it's guest services however having no consideration for your employees is just distasteful and disgusting. Continuously making people work OT because you don't have enough people to run the show is crazy. Maybe have enough benefits to keep your employees would solve this issue, instead of wasting thousands of dollars on job interviews just to replace more than half your workforce every year. And quite frankly, it's a simple fix, pay your employees more, or at the minimum, allow tip jars to be show cased and pay people gratuities. The amount of work these employees do is not compensated well enough compared to other jobs. 

Anyways, there are other banquet jobs in the city that actually pay decently and guarantee a cut from gratuities and allow tips. Look else where.

Too many managers that are under qualified, don't know how to do their job. Employees are being disrespected and bullied. Managers and security spying on employees watching cameras to catch the smallest of mistakes.  No opportunity for advancement; they will hire new Employees with 1 to 2 years experience to manager positions,, over dedicated, hard working, long time employees with 30 years experience. They are fast to hire and fast to fire.. union is useless and offers no protection or benefit. Training of new employees is done in a rush by co-workers on the job,, often missing key safety practices like how to properly lift heavy equipment, no concern of proper posture, etc.  Forklift is often driven by employees with none or expired licenses. Health and safety is not a priority for this building. Cleanliness is poor,, Extremely dusty and dirty. Departments don't get along, people are at eachother throats, extremely negative work environment. Being yelled at is a regular thing. Extra food will be thrown out instead of being offered to hard working employees. Full time swing shift employees can be working day, evening and night shifts in the same week.

The managers are quite respectful but the lead hands(not official title) people you have to shadow when starting the job are so rude . You get to eat whatever was served during banquet. When you work past 12 midnight you get taxi slips I guess that’s how it is in entire Manitoba. You can also pick up someone’s shift or give your shift away. Also it is a very big event centre but overall they are good at what they do 

Great people to work with.  Many Mgmt. & Supervisors are underqualified for their positions and generally don't care, and 
Senior Mgmt. doesn't  put pressure on them to perform better for their positions.  The union has no teeth and because of union rates you can bust butt and get only the same rate of pay as somebody sitting on their butt. Almost zero opportunity for advancement and staff that do work hard are never recognized or even receive expressed appreciation by Mgmt.  Overall disappointing 9 years.

This is one of the worst places I have worked. The managers are rude and do not treat workers well. It feels like they are doing you a favor by letting you work. Many workers I met felt the same.
The workplace is not organized, and the team does not know how to give good service, even though they expect high standards from others.
During banquets, we had to clean heavy and dirty plates without gloves, which is hard and not safe.
Overall, the attitude, organization, and working conditions are very bad. I would not recommend this workplace to anyone who wants a respectful and professional job.

Carrying 10 plates seems so scary and can turn a lot of ppl away but it is not impossible l, you can even do 6 plates and work your way up! Managers and co-workers are also some of the best ppl I have ever met the managers are so kind and understanding, I have so much fun and even when work is tiring it’s not to the point where u just wanna die. It’s a casual job so don’t expect 40hr work days unless ur there for a long time and become a lead server. Pay is nice too, 30 mins of unpaid break but u get free food and if ur working at 12 -6am u get a free taxi

Employer is not interested in people - just bodies to work the events.

Training was rushed, skipped over serving details and was not thorough or inclusive when discussing appearance or accessibility

Best if you do not offer feedback or observations. Management is not responsive and often bullies people into what the Centre needs.

Prepare to be told what days you are working (not asked) and you must be available for everything.

I hates working there, the only good thing is they give u taxi fare. They treat you like a working machine and you are always working all the time except during your break where u don't even have proper break room. Management is  The work culture is terrible, overworking staff for minimum wage. Treated unfairly and made to stand all times and work all the time except during your break.
