Working at RC Pets has been a challenging experience. The company often disregards employee feedback, leaving staff with minimal influence. Management is highly stressed and tends to micromanage, which undermines job performance and morale. 

There is little support during personal hardships, and HR lacks the authority to enact meaningful changes; decisions ultimately rest with the owner. The management style feels outdated, creating a stressful and negative work environment.

Communication within the company is poor, with inconsistent feedback and a lack of transparency. Bonuses and salary increases are not provided, and benefits are only average. Additionally, there is zero investment in your sector, making it difficult to effectively perform your job and advance professionally. 

While the option to work from home is a positive aspect, even this benefit is subject to change.

Overall, the work environment at RC Pets can be difficult, with a need for significant improvements in management, communication, and investment in employees' sectors.



I joined RCpets drawn in by the promising vision laid out by the CEO. However, the reality within the company failed to live up to this vision. Despite being home to talented individuals, the management style and execution fell far short.

One glaring issue was the unrealistic workload imposed on employees, leading to burnout and a high turnover rate. The claim of being family-friendly and hybrid was far from reality—strict adherence to desk cameras and constant screen monitoring made it anything but accommodating.

Moreover, training across departments was inadequate, leaving many struggling to meet expectations. Despite the efforts of HR, decision-making power remained solely with senior management, tying their hands in effecting positive change.

Regrettably, my experience led me to depart from RCpets, and based on this, I cannot recommend it as an employer. The discrepancy between the company's vision and the working reality leaves much to be desired for prospective employees.

- low wages (VERY low)

- some of the dogs were cute and well behaved but most barked and just took over the office. They peed and pooed everywhere.The 2 office cats were more well behaved.

- my CS manager at the time seemed to be afraid to stand up for herself with any other managers, CEO, or the owner. She was also very much a hypocrite and condescending to new CS staff. Tell you one thing, then scold you for doing what she said but not the way SHE would do it. Not the best training. 

-everyone seemed stressed and so that was the feeling of the environment at the time

-software was SO outdated. was only in black and white (no colours) and there was no scroll/pull down menu. Not user friendly at all. 

-the sales reps seemed to rotate a lot as none could seem to get along with the owner (he was in his office everyday) as he, as I recall, was very full of himself and had unrealistic expectations.

Job in itself was simple enough, however upper management hopeless to work with, overtime expected and not compensated, eyes bore into the back of you when you left on time. Bitchiness and a lack of trust, instigated by management/seniors. Tried to schedule overtime when busy on bank holidays/weekends with NO extra compensation despite it not being contracted. September-January blocks on taking time off as it is 'busy' - but department understaffed and management seemed to be able to sway it for themselves. Never led by example. Avoid.

Great work framework - morning huddles to energize the team. Weekly 1 on 1 touch base between manager and team members.
Management cares and listens to employees. There is an employee engagement committee as well as a social committee. Hardest part of the job is to keep up with the changes due to growth. Most enjoyable part is seeing the company results.

Horrible management style has everyone running around with no overlaying idea of what to do. No one respects the higher up management team. Management thinks we fear/feared them but it's mostly exasperation and anger. at the end of the day unless you're upper management your opinion doesn't matter.

Overall, it's a great company to work for. The work environment is very friendly, supportive and transparent. Ideas for improvements from employees are always welcome and respected by the CEO to make the business better. They offer and promote many training and continuous learning opportunities for the employees.
Company is growing healthily. The new senior management team is supportive and empathetic.



Since joining RC everyone has been very welcoming. The managers including the CEO are very approachable and helpful. The work expectations are transparent for example your hours, and tasks are outlined. They provide the training and opportunities to continue your learning. If you feel you need more you just have to ask.

Great family culture but cheap pay results in high turnover. Very well organized and structured for this quickly growing local company has great staff
