I work on a locked unit and I have learned a lot from these indiviuals, as these people get along with the permanent employees. They need a gentle hand, a good word, some don't understand you but you learn how to communicate with them. When I walk on the floor they come to me and some like to be hugged and it makes my day. Some residents speak a different language but you learn a few words from their families and you can tell they like you. When we have an issue with someone our Nursing staff are very interested on what you have to say and they welcome any suggestions. Like how some residents dont like to take meds but I but pudding and they take the meds it takes the bitterness away and they truely enjoy it. My hardest part of the job is losing them they are family and its very sad, I love them all.

Working for the Niagara Region long term care was very busy work. The last year of my employment with them was spent on night shift. during this shift I was responsible for stocking items for personal care. as well as any items needed by care team. I also was responsible for putting together death charts. of course answering call bells and proving for the needs of the residence. The hardest part of my Job was the frustration of trying to meet the needs of all the residence on my floor. I worked with many dedicated staff who loved what they were doing. I Feel that management was not always receptive to the challenges we staff faced. My shifts always ended with proving morning care to resedence

It was good having control of the assigned patrol area

Having upper management who did not understand the process or had experience in the job

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Watch your back type of atmosphere. If you were a yes man and didn’t know anything, you moved up

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Patrol the area and find work for the crew

Worked there many years. Nurses and management couldn't care less about the residents. Staff were clicky and gossipy. 
If you wanna be treated like a number and and not respected. Work for this company.
They will also set you up and get you fired once your seniority is high and you are costing them money in more vacation pay as well as the money they have to match for your pension and unused sick days. Once they find a way to fire you, they save themselves tens and even hundreds of thousands of dollars so there is major incentive to do so.

Worst working experience ever
Management micro managed staff via gossip and innuendo at Northland Pointe
Workload was unbalanced and requests for help ignored
Lines were unfilled and staff always short
Linhaven was better staffed, less short
Also full of bullies, longterm staff who didnt like newcomers. Scheduling was a nightmare for part timers, computer  scheduling program NOT user friendly

Your co workers and the residents they were wonderful people.

Wasn't too stress full so no comment .

Friendly even worked as a team and got the job done ✅

It was busy but manageable with help.

The Region of Niagara is all around the top employer for healthcare for many reasons. 
Supportive team work felt by everyone, 
Same level wages as other establishments if not better, great benefits for part time staff, 
Organized and competent staff all the way around on all levels

The culture of the Niagara region is extremely damaging to impact is to employees that want to want to be for forward thinking and Innovative. The intent of management is to keep staff working as much as With as little compensation as possible.

Great place for advancement, good benefits, some tuition paid by the Region if it pertained to your job or the Career path you were choosing. My favourite part of my job was working with all of our clients, which was challenging and delightful all at one time.
