RGIS Inventory Specialists

RGIS is a company that does not care about it's low level employees. You will regularly be expected to start work anywhere from 3:30am-7am for a 4-6 hour shift, take a few hours off then start again after 9pm. 
The evening shifts would run at a minimum until midnight, usually later, then expected to be at another job site the next morning before 6am.

If an employee ever mentions being tired they are scolded and belittled by management (and can even lose shifts if upper management is present)
Nothing gets in the way of the job, or the brand, (one occasion I often reference is when my team and I were forced to work in a store when the furnace broke down in -30 degree weather. We weren't allowed to stop or wear our winter jackets. (As MOD I disregarded our orders and told my team to put their jackets on anyway)

To make matters worse you need to constantly monitor your pay stubs as managers and team leaders will "tinker" with time sheets to falsely improve their production numbers by shaving time off of employees. To correct this you need to fight with the office staff who, and i quote "doesn't believe anything an employee says" in regards to these problems.

Many productive employees go years without raises simply due to a poor social relationship with some managers. (not always the case)

The only positive about this position is they hire absolutely anyone, and you can select what hours/days you are willing to work and can alter them at any time. And habitual lateness and no-shows will never be punished.

Simply searching the company name online will reveal many other horror stories just like these. 

(This review is from someone with an impeccable track record with the company who tried hard, but failed to change the culture)

I thought all the negative press were exagerrated, until I actually started with my first few shifts. I'll keep it short...this company in general does not really respect their employees, with the exception of a few the supervisor/managers the attitude feels cold. I have seen an almost fanatical non-devotion to labour laws,(breaks were highly discouraged and reluctantly granted) as well as a lack of regard to road safety, with the cell phone usage; trying to find the site on Google maps (could they have not searched it up before the trip?). It made for an unbearable ordeal out of what could have been an enjoyable little road trip to the job site. 

Training was nonexistant, throw them right into the trenches was the training,creating a lot of mistakes and slow performance due to the learning curve (which really isn't steep at all). However, there seemed to be little encouragement to do any better other than veiled coercement. Hours were few and far between, or they flooded a few days with long shifts and travel, with travel being paid after first hr, and of course motel time was at a minimum because RGIS doesnt turn a profit by signing cheques.
 
It's not all bad however. My coworkers for the most part were great people, down to earth and as helpful as they could be. A few of the supervisors/managers are great people who actually show some sort of respect, however stressed they may be, and a lot of our clients are fun to meet and chat with. If you like to live out of a suitcase, and see the world through a van window, or a small chance to meet people from different areas of the province, this may work for you, but be warned.... you will probably not make rent/bills on this job alone. Not for faint of heart at all....

The problem with RGIS is the communication. 

You're often getting emails from your RM and they're negative emails, one after another. All day as well, you don't necessarily want to see these or should see them, these should be seen by the DM and then we have a meeting to fix any problems. 

The compensation is not on par with the work we do. The pay for the auditors and team leaders are also not great at all. 

It's clear the money is in head office, which just over schedules events each day which is tough, you are looking at needing staff of about 300 people just to accommodate these events with 100% correct staffing, but they don't pay these auditors well and they do not compensate for transit and the travel is not paid for the 1st hour, just after that 1st hour you are paid for travel to locations like Hope and Whistler. 

Hours of operation are not optimal either. You are asking people to either come in way too early to locations or way too late and these events are rarely, if ever, staffed well with proper working equipment. 

The Equipment:

Incredibly outdated, always breaking down on you and just clunky to use. 

Training:

You are literally trained for 3-4hrs and by someone that is incredibly impatient. Then you're thrown into a shift at like an Old Navy or Shoppers and you're scanning, without much guidance.

I work 3 days a week, as an administrator and receptionist. My typical day is coming in to work early 7am, opening the doors, getting the office ready for business, checking for telephone messages, going through emails, preparing files for new hires etc... I love my work, I learn things everyday and I am always wanting to know more, I find that meeting all types of people from different walks of life is so interesting. We have several managers that work here, the team runs different parts of the business. The managers are great and fun to work with. The hardest part of my job is really just to take a break, once I start I just want to keep going until the end of my shift, I know that this is not healthy practice but it feels somehow right for me! The most enjoyable part of my job is interacting with people and solving their problems, it feels good to have a sence of purpose and meaning to my work!

I worked here for a month, management isn't the greatest, each manager will text and drive while employees are in the vehicle. I had a few scares of being in the vehicle and having to tell management that I wanted to make it home alive. You have to be willing to travel during the night, when I worked with a similar company that would never happen, they paid for us to stay in hotels. Management knows they have people working with them but in some eyes we were working FOR THEM, not with, but for them so they were able to kick back their feet and slack. One is stuck in her ways and is completely rude, talks about you in front of you to the other employees. From a guys view he had asked me if all the girls hate me there too because the girls who work for the company hate one another and it is always catty. Terrible terrible working environment. If you want to work somewhere draining and a waste of your time, go right ahead.. you might love it, but I am warning some, it sucks to work there.

This company does not value its employees at all. I worked there for way too long and was always underpaid and taken advantage of. The president is one of the rudest people I have ever met and is so disrespectful, very reflective of how valued the employees are. They expect you to work crazy shifts yet still pay like garbage. On more than one occasion I worked 18-24 hour shifts. I worked there for 4 years as a supervisor and was making less than people who were just hired and when I asked about it, I was told that there was a wage freeze and there was nothing they could do about it. They also make you feel extremely guilty when calling in sick and have asked me many times to still come in while being contagious and in poor health. I would not waste your time applying to this company because it will suck the life out of you. Extremely hostile work environment that does not care about the health and safety of their employees, nor respects or values them.

RGIS is a company that knows where it wants to be in the industry,  and has a great sense of how to be in that place. They emphasize quality work over quantity of work, but never seem to have a shortage of "quantity"

Work life balance is a challenge due to the "round the clock" service that the company offers its customers, and the frequent travel required to accommodate that goal. However it can be done with a diligent eye to your personal needs and time.

Compensation is fair and slightly above the company's competitors, with some solid perks for managers and supervisors.

RGIS is an awesome company to work for however it is a permanent part-time job which means you only work when needed.
The Co-workers and management always bring a smile to the workplace which can be anywhere. Your team leader asks you to log-in then they give you a machine which you get to use during your shift, you are responsible for making sure nothing goes wrong and if a mistake is made it's easier to use the same machine then trying to fix it manually.
The hardest part of the job is, If you don't like math, you wont like this job and the thing I like about this job I learned a few things that came in handy when I became a cashier and it surprised everyone that I could type a barcode manually without looking and still get the right product scanned in

RGIS is a great company.  Work is constantly busy and there is always something to do but working from start to finish and getting the results that make a customer happy is always worth the experience.  Lots of hours are put in to traveling to customers spread out over Canada.   Counts start early and usually end late and when you hit  the level of District Manager, you will be responsible for several counts that happen simultaneously in different cities.  This job requires high stress level management as you have to always be focus on upcoming tasks and customer satisfaction.  

The company takes good care of its employees.  I certainly enjoyed the best company outings i have ever experienced.  The Management is a great group of people.  You're just always on the go. Having little kids makes that really hard sometimes.

RGIS is an inventory management company which has many external client for conducting their store inventory and dollar valuation & has a bunch of clients like Walmart, Shoppers Drug Mart, Sears, Old Navy and many clothing & retail stores. Their work is very simple which includes scanning of product barcodes, covering the store shelf by shelf, working with other team members & team leaders.The best thing to work with this company is that you can choose work according to your availability and is a good part time job for earning additional income. Typically shifts are 4-6 hours, carpools are available for employees, managers are very cooperative with team members and is a hassle free job.
