A normal day at work was the same everyday, very repetitive no real change in my daily tasks, turn on my machine and watch it cut, check the slot specs every few cuts, and make sure blades are not getting dull. I spend most of the time working on my own running a slotting machine, slotting pipe for the oil sands. Mangers were alright to work for, were not on the shop floor very much spent a lot of time in their office watching videos on the internet and did not help teach very much and spoke down to employees when they asked for help. I did not have much of an opportunity to learn much other then how to run the slotting machine since that is all I did.  I think the hardest part of my job was asking for help in fear of being talked down to for not knowing something or how to fix a problem I had no previous experience with.  The most enjoyable part of my job was setting and reaching personal daily goals, like trying to producing more slotted pipe then the day before.

"Manager" changed my contract after I signed it. Literally took out and replaced responsibility list. Would never have accepted the position based on that list. Told me the wage was one thing in the interview, much lower in the offer. Told hours were one thing, but then told (after contract was signed) that mandatory overtime and 12 hour days were what was expected. Safety was non-existent. Work stops happened regularly. Property damage was the norm. Walking under 1000 kg pipe was considered safe. When you brought safety concerns to management, you were fired. Watched many good men let go because they brought forward safety concerns. Managers had tantrums to the point where human resources had to step in and order emailed apologies. 

I just can't find anything good about this company. Nothing. Please don't waste your time applying here.

Great rate of pay and one of the best benefits packages in the industry. Job is not physically demanding and on the job training is provided. If you are punctual, reliable, hard working, and cooperative, work with minimal supervision and keep a close eye to detail and quality then this may be the place for you. On the job training is provided. Management is always willing to lend an ear and provide constructive criticism and suggestions with patience and understanding. If you are good to them, they will be good to you. Safety protocol maintained to the highest possible level, trained First Aid/CPR employees on site.

The ability to explore your abilities were amazing.   People (employees) were encouraged to take ownership of the development of the plant and its equipment.  I enjoyed the independence and trust that was given.  There was a very positive attitude which is of utmost importance to job satisfaction.  I enjoy being positive and being around other positive people.  RGL management listened to all ideas equally no matter if it came from the shop floor or a senior executive which promoted a sense of ownership in the works.  I truly loved the company and sad to see this chapter come to a close.

The shop I managed was a productive cooperative place, however corporately they were very unorganized and selfish. There was a lot of talk about collaboration, however, the VP's did not understand what it actually meant and did the exact opposite to what they said. Some of them had an education, however they lacked organizational and life experience to make some of the decisions they made. The result is they kept loosing market share, costs kept going up and they all preached we know what we are doing.

This is a horrible place to work.
It sucks the life out of you. The more work you take on and the more hours you work are not appreciated nor compensated for.
Senior Management does not care about there employees, terrible benefits and all around worst place i have ever worked. If you want to work in a chaotic environment where bullying by management is allowed with zero appreciation  for hard work this is the place to work.

I worked here for about 5 years, and only left because of the 2014/2015 economy drop in oil and gas. The work was steady, pretty easy going, and the company tried its best to boost moral. But the shops were headed by folks that were jaded and had poor attitudes. I wish I would have been able to stay, but it just wasn't in the cards for me. They did reach out when it came time to rehire for the position.

The hours and benefits were great. Regular staff and middle Managers were all decent and easy to work with but that is were it stopped. The VP's were extremely greedy sacrificing staff for therir own financial gains, they sucked the life out of that place with their greed and way of making the staff feel unappreciated and unworthy.

Great experience from great people. They provide a culture that fosters innovation and treat their workers fairly.  Its oil and gas manufacturing.  They have some people that work for themselves . But they also have a great team in place for operations that will help you move forward in your career .

Sand Control design for SAGD applications. Limited oilfield exposure beyond tubular apparatus.
Good company with machine shop access located in Leduc. Some driving required. Access to the U of A Research Group and grad student projects.
