RUDSAK

My job at Rudsak was to sell Rudsak products in Costco. Every two weeks, we would be changing locations and traveling to the different Costcos throughout Montreal. 
A typical day at work would be to show up on time to work, read the notes left from my coworkers the day before in order to find out if there were any problems encountered or any new rules or regulations that needed to be followed. Then I would simply make sure everything is neatly placed and then I would offer the best costumer service I could possible provide in order to sell the products and make sure that customers are leaving with exactly what they want. Once a week I would have to complete an inventory of all the products left for sale, separating them by model, colour and size. After every shift, I would have to send a fax to my superior with the number of sales made that day as well as any comments or remarks that needed to be made (ex: no more size small left for jacket model B in black). 
This job really taught me to be independent. Since I was selling the Rudsak products in Costco, most of the time I would be working either alone or with one or two more coworkers. Managers would pass by once in a while to check up on things and make sure everything is running smoothly. Besides that, you are on your own. This job allowed me to become a team leader and take initiative. 
The only set back to this job was the fact that there was a lack of communication between the management and the employees, due to the fact that the manager was not often present during our shifts, therefore could not see the hard work being put in. 
I made a lot of friends while working for Rudsak. My coworkers were extremely friendly and we all worked as a team and helped each other out.
The hardest part of the job would of had to been working shifts alone. Due to the fact that there is no management present, if ever I would have a question to ask I would have to call and try to get in contact with my manager, which was not always easy. Whenever I was not able to get in touch with a manager, I would try my best to give the customer the most accurate information I possibly can.

It was great when I started, but then they hired a new manager, who was sexist, racist, manipulative. He came into the store drunk, smashed up change rooms because he got involved with the assistant manager. When I found out they were in a relationship he threatened to fire me for “slandering him” when all I did was ask another staff member if they were involved. After this I found out he talked bad about all the women staff behind their back including myself, I know for a fact I was called a “fat cow “useless” and “stupid” (etc.) for asking questions on how to do my job properly. Money had gone missing from the store and he had told other employees it was me because I always opened and was “alone” at times. He slandered me and got NO repercussions. He was suspended for two weeks for the change room incident and they brought him back and 80% of the staff quit when he came back, myself included.  All of us women had expressed to the DM that we were not comfortable with him around, but they had no regard for how we felt. The location closed shortly after and it’s no wonder why. 

Rudsak is a great company to work for because it is a challenging and exciting work place. A typical work day starts off with  debriefing with the managers and a small talk on your objective for the day. Then, you head out on the floor to start helping clients find there needs and providing them with the best customer service you can provide, while being professional. You co-workers are there to help you sell and learn from situation where they or you have faced. The hardest part of the job is managing your stress, but that can be easily dealt with breathing techniques. The most enjoyable part of this job is the amount of commission you will be making when you start to sell effectively. I learned to be confident in my self, manage my time effectively, and to take initiate. You do not need to wait for your manager/boss to tell you to do something, you should do it before he even needs to tell you that something has to be done.

Working at Rudsak comes with several challenges that potential employees should be aware of. The compensation offered is notably below industry standards, especially when compared to similar roles in the fashion or retail sector. Despite the lower pay, employees are often expected to work long hours, and the company does not support remote or hybrid work arrangements, even for roles where such flexibility would be feasible. This lack of work-life balance can lead to burnout over time. Additionally, the benefits package is either very limited or completely lacking, which is unusual and disappointing for a company of this size and visibility. Professional growth opportunities also seem limited, with little emphasis on employee development or internal mobility. Overall, while the brand may be well known in the marketplace, the internal employee experience falls short. Anyone considering a position at Rudsak should weigh these factors carefully before making a decision.

This an exciting Canadian fashion brand with a strong vision and loyal following.  It is very new to this location so much of the operational objectives were experimental (ie. optimistic budgets).  I learned a lot about the behind-the-scenes elements of the fashion industry. The management was new with a relatively high turnaround.  It was hard to build relationships with leaders because they kept getting replaced.  My team was filled with high-energy young people who were all excited about the products.  The hardest part of the job was meeting the sales targets in the summer.  The brand is famous for winter apparel.  It didn't translate as well in the summer months.  The most enjoyable part of the job was learning about the products.

A typical day at Rudsak essentially consists of getting your 5 minute breakdown of what you are required to do during your shift that day. This is at the beginning of your shift. You are then sent to an area (jackets, accessories, shoes, etc.) or presume your own and are expected to sell as much as possible. The managers are normally very nice and young people, so they understand you and talk to you, however can be quite inconsistent with schedules. The hardest part of the job is trying to sell something very expensive without "pushing" it onto someone. The most enjoyable part of the job is the feeling of satisfaction when you closed your $2000+ sale and are getting a great commission off of it!

This place is literally a factory. No team or culture, just production line, abuse, yelling at people, shaming employees, playing favorites, and putting extreme and unnecessary pressure and demands on people. Employees were considered to be just a property of the organization, with the expectation of upper management to work 60 hours a week. No additional compensation was provided in the form of monetary or additional time off. If you like being overworked and burned out, then maybe this company is for you. But if you're sane and want a job in a company that respects work-life balance, then you'll definitely hate this place.
