Working here has come with a variety of different emotions. I was very compassionate with the youth I served and developed amazing relationships with them. This job is good as a stepping stone and can help you decide whether you want to stay in the field or avoid it. While in my employment, I have worked alongside with compassionate, warm and some of the most caring people and continue to have meaningful relationships with them. 

A few things I would approach with caution while working here is safety concerns, lack of training, and unprofessionalism some of the managers portray. I believe this company is in need of some growth, and to provide staff proper training to ensure the quality of work and professionalism is in place.
As an previous employee I acknowledge I had lacked it some areas and wish I could have recognized it sooner. 

Working here you need to have the skills to prevent burnout and practice self care, and to tread lightly of who you trust as there is a certain work culture that needs to be addressed. 

Overall this job is good for building experience but I do not recommend long term employment with this company as it lacks opportunity for growth and has a low pay rate.

This company is the worst place to work. They do not care about your mental health. I worked here for about a year and I am so glad I quit. I was not comfortable working with a youth and I made it known to the management and asked to be placed somewhere literally anywhere else but they refused to listen. Instead choose to repeat back to me "so you are refusing to work with this youth". I was mentally very drained and the support from upper management is not there. I calmly explained the situation as I had worked previously with this youth and knew that I was not the fit and the youth made me feel very unsafe. But there was just a repeat again "so you are refusing to work with a youth". They also tell you to have business insurance on your vehicle but do not want to pay for that as it costs more than being insured just within 15km for work. Overall if you would like to save your mental health do not work for them. They act like they really care during the team meetings but in reality thats not the case when you actually go to speak to them about a situation. Poorly dealt and poor management who is just there for the money. Staffs mental health and wellbeing is not put first. Also the individuals who they have made team leads some of them are just absolutely rude and nothing gets done about it when you tell uppermanagement again. 

I worked with RYSE for a good while and enjoyed my time with them in regards to the youth I worked with, and my immediate coworkers. They were great when I started, but overall management took a nosedive after a while. A lot of this involved updating policies and protocols, but the execution was brutal. People got written up over every little mistake or misstep. They have some youth that can be difficult to work with and you need thick skin, firm boundaries, and a lot of patience. At the end of the day, there was lots of favoritism and bullying behind the scenes and it became a very toxic place that overloaded me to the point of total burnout. I was happy for the experience and I'll miss the youth I worked for, but I cannot say I would recommend working here. 

Experience can vary from house to house. Often, you'll find that some people are just here for a paycheck and don't genuinely care about the individuals, which is disheartening to see. Those who do care often rely on outdated models for handling situations. One individual specifically complained that management is "like a mom." Some staff are overly strict, while others are too easygoing.

There is no consistent workplace model—everyone does as they see fit. No one is on the same page, and people have vastly different styles and approaches. Training is extremely minimal and practically nonexistent. No one is held accountable for anything they do here!


I do have to say, it was the most rewarding job i have ever had, i have had several different job experiences over  40 years. This was one of the best. My bosses were amazing in every way. Supported me and stood by me with personal trials that were going on for me at that time. I realy loved every aspect of ryse supportive services. 

You work with difficult youth which is a challenge on its own. Management says they care about you but they pressure you into overtime, make you drive in unsafe conditions, promote a culture of toxic positivity, and will squeeze every possible drop of labour out of you. 

I have been with this company for A while now and I love working with the kids, however there is so much toxicity between caregivers and upper management their protocols change on a dime too many cooks in the kitchen too many different directions given and a whole lot of favoritism. I stay on not for a paycheque and not for the toxic environment, but because my heart is with these kids.

Joining the Ryse team has been a game changer for me! This company is all about uplifting both youth and staff. Here, your work really matters and the support from co-workers is incredible. If making a difference and growing in a compassion environment, sounds good to you, Ryse is where you want to be. I'm happy to be a part of this family. 

I enjoy working at Ryse, its a great company always trying to improve work\life balance and wages.   It can be challenging at times due to the extent of the youth's needs to keep everyone happy.  We all work together to try make it an enjoyable workplace and home for the kids.
