Terrible place to work. Moody manager..if you are not making quite enough sales that day you can expect to be treated poorly with snide remarks and a feeling like you could lose your job the next day if you do not up your performance very very quickly..this applies for employees who have worked for RMC well over the 3 month probation period.

Clients are treated very poorly, harassed with many, many phone calls in a very short period of time. Existing clients are given the endearing term,  "Bangers" - presumably because you should be able to "Bang" off a sale with them rather easily. 

RMC offers 4-5 publications. A new one is  released every 2 - 3 months. If a client buys an ad in one "annual" publication they will be called incessantly very soon for the next released publication. The pitch to advertise in the next publication is done in such a way that the customer MAY think it is a renewal of the same one. Sneaky sneaky.

I do not recommend working for this company unless you absolutely have to.

As a sales representative, a typical day required a minimum of two advertisement sales achieved through cold calling prospective clients. I learned a great deal about sales and how to professionally and pleasantly make a sales pitch while still providing quality customer service to my client, ordering extra copies of the books the advertisements appeared in for clients while writing their own personalized ad copy with graphics and details was the most difficult part to learn. I enjoyed my co-workers and their ability to be up beat and fun while dealing with a very high pressure environment the did not allow sick days or any consideration for the people there with children, working here taught me to leave my personal feelings at home and make every day excellent.

The goal was to entertain customers and get the sale.  The position was from Monday to Friday and had a lot of incentives to make sales.  This was very much a team setting as everyone would feed off each others energy. The hardest part of the job was being turned down by customers. The most enjoyable part was the working with the fellow employees. This job was all outgoing calls, some were recurring customers but mostly cold calling.

So, let me preface by saying this was back a few years (the company was over in city centre at the time) but this is one of those jobs that you are either cut out for or not. I was not.

Basically the minute you start you're on the phones trying to make sales; not that there's a lot of training involved, but talk about getting right to it! You read a script for every call, so basic telemarketing work. After 2 or 3 days of reading that script I thought I would cry if I had to read it again, so that was it for me!

Learned a lot about sales. Incentives were great. The co-workers were very nice and welcoming. Lots of contests & great incentives. I had never done sales before and it was a great start to my career in handling leads and closing sales. All and all a great experience.

The notoriety is great. The supervisors are very helpful and so is the graphic designer. If you are good closer you can make some great money. R.m.c. has a great data base. Christmas time is alot of fun at regional maple leaf communications. Those employees that have been there for many years are fun to work with

Very goal oriented, competitive, often challenging place to work, excellent for growth in sales. It was very high demand in regards to putting on your best face, and really boosted your confidence toward dealing with people and gaining experience in customer service.

Overall great place to be if you are good in sales. Fast placed , rewarding. The management is horrible. If your not at quota there motivation techniques are screaming and yelling. Threatening your job. Very cut throat.

getting to talk with people all over canada and getting them to place an add in special magazines the help with different types of situations for kids and how to deal with them.  their ads make the book free to the community

This was the first job I ever had with experience in sales. 
I admit I had to drink alot of coffee to keep me motivated, but I've learned alot
