The job itself is amazing, the friends a relationships and daily interaction was great. Everyone at surface level is what made this place move forward. Unfortunately it was never valued, and the morale suffered. The job was so engaging, but all management did was try to tear that apart. I saw so many good employees with vast knowledge leave, everyone was replaceable to Halton. I've never seen a management team ruin a working environment so much. 

I witnessed employees get bullied into submission. If you're employed  here I highly recommend you keep your mouth closed and dont challenge status quo. They're not interested in any ideas or changes, and you'll be black listed. 

If Halton revised management and cut the fat, and actually implemented a plan that engaged and made employees feel valued, this would be an amazing municipality to work for. Unfortunately at the moment they're driving it into the ground. Cant even keep new employees around long enough.

I worked closely with a director and management team as an administrative assistant my role required me to keep information confidential which I pride myself on. I have a welcoming, positive outlook,  allowing people to generally like me.  I pride myself on customer service skills that I used daily with politicians, stakeholders, CAO's, commissioners, directors etc.  The hardest part of my job was to be a support for the division as the Social & Community Services went through two re-alignments leaving some displaced and relocated. I enjoyed coordinating meetings, conferences and  travel logistics for the director and management team. I can work well on my own or as party of a  team.  I am looking for a career not just a job and a company I can be proud to work for.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
The typical day for me was varied and full of tasks that I was well trained for.

Working with the team at the Region of Halton, Allendale was fun.  For most times the staff work as a team and we had lots of fun.  The work was very challenging at times but very rewarding caring for residents and for most times their families appreciated the care their loved ones received.  

Management usually have pop up visits on the night shift and usually come in during the night shift to host staff meetings and celebrate special events.  I have never felt left out of any events held at Allendale.

My workday was a 8hr shift with 2-15min breaks and a 1/2hr lunch. It was a very pleasant atmosphere. I learned the art of Teamwork and how pleasant work is with the help of your team. My co-workers enjoyed working with me as they told me many times. The hardest part of my job was residents passing away but working with mostly seniors, you realize that it is going to happen at some point. The most enjoyable part of my job was seeing a resident smile or remembering my name or a sign that they were comfortable with me

A really good place to start your career. Management is very helpful and patient, they provide guidance whenever you need it. There are update meetings every week for my position but it is very casual, there's a good level of independence. There is also not too much pressure, it is a very relaxed working environment as long as you complete your work at a reasonable time. The pay is lower than some of the neighbouring municipalities but it is not bad.

As the title of the job suggests, my main responsibility was customer service. As a finance customer service representative, I was responsible for delivering excellent customer service and answering any customer questions or inquiries. My job duties included: answering phone calls, receiving bid documents from potential candidates, processing payments of bulk water cards, providing information on certain projects

Transferring money from accounts

I enjoy all aspects of my job.

The hardest part of my job is getting information from co-workers that don't view deadlines as I do.  I have been able to overcome it by offering to help them so we can meet our deadlines

I have nothing but good things to say about working with Halton. I have never received more support from superiors and colleagues than I did working in this role. Training was incredibly thorough and I never felt afraid to ask questions. Job expectations were very clearly outlined and resources for employees to succeed were always available.
