Shift started at 2300, would do pre-trip on shunt truck. Check with night foreman to get list of trailers to be moved into the bays first, then proceed to move trailers in and out of loading docks.
 That if a container doesn't smell right to notify the foreman immediately, and take extra precautions when opening the doors.
 That the company hates it when we have to call in Environment Canada to clean up a toxic spill in the dock area.
 I enjoyed working there, because if you wanted to bank hours for sick days you could work on weekends.
 I got along with all the former staff of Riemer, except when they merged with YRC. New staff were there to weed out people that were loyal to the union.

 When I worked there, they had 18 drivers full time, and about 20 warehouse staff working the docks every shift in 2013.
 I see now that they have sold off almost all of their trucks and the yard is always empty. I don't know if they even have a night shift, that was the gravy shift, lost of overtime.

It was a Canadian owned Company .   A US company took over and I left due to safety issues on equipment. there is no acceptance when a bully from a American major company to intimidate Canadian staff  with his loud anger at one individual that has worked hard .  no exceptions . I take my many years  of experience as a top pro class 1 driver and move on.

It was a great place to work. Very professional management and staff. Company had very high standards for hiring and surrounded themselves with great people. All employees had uniforms and were held to a very high standard of Customer Service

Every body worked as a team ! Busy place lots of cross training in different departments . Management very supports on on-going training and provided the resources to do so . Very Family atmosphere with lunches , dinners and social gatherings .

i like to work(driving+labour).   learn everyday,  co workers are both friends and enemy.    waiting for long time is hardest part of job,       when take a cofee break thats enjoyable part.

Work is hard and one will be gone most of the time. Checks were always on time and the benefits are very good. To enjoy this work one must be ok with being gone most of the time.

Best years of my career  88 to 99 ! Met some of the most interesting and exciting  and professional   groups of people in my life  those days are long gone but still fills my heart with overwhelming thoughts of days gone by.
