A typical day at work would be getting really busy doing a lot of cleaning, maintenance and the number one priority which is to provide the guests with a service so memorable. I have learned to consolidate my skills in dealing with very difficult and stressful situations even though I have been working for the hospitality business for more than 20 years. Here, it has been very different for me. My co-workers are friendly but you can always find someone who is always looking for a little trouble, mainly in my department. The hardest part of the job is to remind my coworkers over and over about what they are supposed to do even though they have been there longer than me and be surprised at some who do not show any interest or care about their job. The most enjoyable part is being able to interact with the guests and be able to put a smile on their faces every time they have a problem or feel flustered about anything. At the end of the day, that is the reason why we are there for. To make them have a pleasant and comfortable stay in our property and feel like home. The management is not so great and that includes only my supervisor and the General Manager. They don't seem to care much about the workers' needs there nor how the workers feel in every aspect of life. They don't even care if you get sick one day like normal humans do, they will still try to make you come to work and if you don't, you have to bring a doctor's note. To judge a worker, they don't care about this person's history like how good a worker this person has been or if he has never been late to work, things like that and I consider that good workers should be taken into consideration. The only thing they pretty much care for is selling, that is all that matters to them. In other words, workers feel the need to be appreciated for what they do.

Through my over 14+ years working for Residence Inn by Marriott Hotel, I have learned the perfect hospitality experience. I have worked morning, afternoon and  night shifts. 

The management complied to the standards of Marriott International to ensure that all employees adheres to the  standard operating procedures  including guest satisfaction, safety and security ,all aimed at ensuring a consistent and high-quality experience for guests. 

My most difficult experience was to learn how to communicate with everyone from diverse and multi-cultural backgrounds. But the learning was also enjoyable and an opportunity for personal growth. I learned to serve and be engaged in a work environment with people of diverse cultures, beliefs, traditions and gained a sense of belonging not only with my co-workers but as well our hotel guests. 





My time was short lived at whitby location. Never had issues with a guest or co workers. Alot of positive feed back on trip advisor regarding my services. Manager however, very intimidating and never encouraging when in training and struggles were there. The harder you worked, the worse i got treated. Extremely unapproachable, stat holidays not paid correctly, minimum wage and no shift premium and whether you stayed over your shift..you weren't paid for it. Revolving door for audit position as the training is extremely poor in all areas. God forbid you bring that up too...it makes it worse for yourself. A few on mental stress leave. I will never look back on this place as enjoyment in my employment or regret quitting.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Very close knit group of employees. Most have worked at the RI for 5+ years, which shows how great they are. The family that owns the hotel is kind and understanding of their staff, and do everything the can to make their team feel appreciated. A little gem in a giant world of stressful hospitality work. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The job itself can be stressful on days with lots of check ins/ check outs, but even then, the team is supported by a wonderful assistant GM who always has your back. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Friendly, kind, positively goal-oriented 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Great! I always go home in a good mood, and never feel like the work I put in isn’t appreciated.

working at hotel feels a job bit insecure because hotel totally runs by its occupancy.During winter the hotel busssiness is very slow and the junior staff in housekeeping hardly gets any shift for whole months.Individual have no other options left to look for a job for short peroid of time.As per the management it is well functioned and the staff are very professional and organized.Every staff is been treated with respect and well trained.I enjoy doing housekeeping job since i like to stay organized and cleaning up is my daily habit.Still if i have a chance i would choose working with the seniors because i have a nursing proffessional and i want to utilize that with the full passion,compassionate and kind way to the fragile and sick residents.

1- I look after various meeting rooms which includes setting up buffet, setting up conference tables, napkin folding, food and beverage service, handling guest complaints, clearing out the buffet, getting ready for next day's meeting room and cleaning work place before I leave.

2- I learned various style of buffet set up, importance of team work, time management, guest preference, how to deal with co-workers

3- The hardest part of my job is when I ran out of food for the guest. 
So, I avoid too much refilling of food in chaffing dish, as guest sometimes tend to waste food. 

4- The most enjoyable part of my job is when my guest appreciate my service.

I absolutely loved the time I spent working at the Residence Inn by Marriott. My managers were always willing to listen and were so helpful. It really felt like working with friends. Everybody was always positive and looking for ways to make the experience for the guest special; which made my experiences working there special. I always felt welcomed to bring concerns and suggestions to my manager and they were quick to respond. We got so many benefits: monthly staff lunches, discounts at all Marriotts, discounts at local tourist attractions, etc.

I enjoy going  to my work everyday.
I learned how to value my job and to be thankful for what i have.
The good relationship and unity with the management are highly appreciated. 
My co- workers are very cooperated for the success of our daily task and company goals.
The hardest part of my job is to maximize the time even we are busy so that we cannot exceeding  the hours. 
The most enjoyable part of my job is to communicate with different people to do my best to served  that's why i can
do it my daily task with music.

Working with Marriott was the best employment experience I have ever had to date. Flexible management is embraced with an open door policy and sincerity.
 
While working with the team in Moncton my entire approach on customer service transformed, raising the bar with each interaction I had with the staff & guests. All in all the best learning opportunity I have had the fortune to encounter since school.

This is a brand new hotel. Managers doesn’t care staff’s opinion and concerns. It happens numerous times that one of the frontdesk agent who acts a supervisor humiliated her colleagues in front of other staff and even in front of many guests. No disciplinary actions taken. This is acceptable and shouldn’t be tolerated. This lady front desk agent is now promoted as supervisor and I couldn’t imagine how’s gonna be the front office be like. For sure it’s gonna be a disaster.
