A typical day at work involved morning clean up where we would begin at 7am and clean the village stroll from top to bottom and change all the garbage's and walk everywhere doing litter pick up. After that we would start other various jobs like pressure washing, putting up or taking down banners and christmas lights, replacing paving stones, changing light bulbs, removing or installing benches, sanding and staining benches and fences and general cleaning of the village. I learned how to use an assortment of tools and machines. Management could have been better organized and communication between management and staff needed work. We worked as a pair each day and all my co-workers were great.
The hardest part of the job was dealing with the weather, ranging from -20 with lots of snow to shovel to +30 some days working in the heat of the sun.
The most enjoyable part was being able to use an assortment of equipment and also being out doors in the mountains.

This was by far one of the best jobs I have ever had. My bosses were awesome, great attitude, super supportive and a great staff to work alongside. Feels like a family. I always looked forward to going to work. The benefits offered to full time employees is unbeatable, and they really stand behind their staff. People don't often leave their positions at the RMOW, so if you are looking to move up in the company, you may be waiting a long time.

Working for whistler is like the best dream ever inside a tiny nightmare. 
Pros: amazing coworkers you'll cherish for life, demanding job that can be fun because of coworkers and how different it is. 
Cons: Making hardly enough to scrape by, hoping to god you can get two twoonies together to buy a ramen meal at the most expensive grocery store you've ever seen in your life. 

working for the municipality was great because it's hours allowed for easy balance between work and time on the mountain. Additionally the pay is great because the need to people to be able to stay and make proper lives there which can be difficult with other jobs because living in whistler is so expensive

Loved my time with the RMOW - Staff were kind and competent, and Elected Officials were respectful, generous and approachable. Long hours during Council Meeting Days and Package weeks but it was definitely a great learning experience. 

Hiring process was easy with a semi casual interview.  Meadow Park is a great facility to work at.  Busy and well equipped recreation centre.  If you are not a permanent full time staff member you do not qualify for benefits, however they will pay out a % in lieu of.

Everything about the RMOW was fantastic. 
amazing location, wonderful people, a cohesive group, dedicated to Whistler and your personal wellbeing, all and all it was one of the best places I have worked.

Most managers and general managers are yes people to the CAO. The Human Resources Department is a joke, bullying and harassment run rampant in the organization. The pay is great, but not at the expense of your mental health.

Great Company for learning and advancements. Fun atmosphere with great colleagues to work with. Learned a lot more about the town of Whistler and how things work behind the scenes to make it the wonderful town it is.

Great staff, respectful and inclusive work environment. Clean facility, paid recurrent training but that is changing, only 50% coverage soon. Great hour flexibility.
