Response Security

These are facts... they supply you with one work shirt, you have to buy cargo pants, your own security badge with your license # on it, you pay for your own note pads (unreal), you supply your own flashlights, mobile is required to pay for their own stab proof vests ($700), you pay for your own security belt ($100), the cool looking photos of well equipped guards comes at their cost not the company. You don’t get paid after two weeks of work because they are two weeks behind. If you get into an accident with their cars you pay out of your own pocket if you caused the accident.  All of their staff are children in their teens, that includes their supervisor on site for mobile. They are undertrained as far as their patrol cars are concerned.  Their turn over rate is really bad, I think it’s due to the company being cheap. Their web site makes them look better then they really are. I’d stay clear if I were you, just saying.

It's hard to define typical as every day can be different but a most common day would be, get into the office, chat with all the partners, help each other out, then go out on the road and do site checks, guard checks, patrols, parking enforcement, alarm response.

I learnt to be very vigilant on the job. And learned many aspects of the law.

Management was decent, although very hard to communicate with when a matter was aborted.

My co workers we're the best, team work was one of the best i've ever experienced.

Hardest part of the job is you always had to be extremely vigilant as anything could happen on the road or while doing a patrol and or alarm response therefor had to be on top of my game all the time.

Gathering experience was the most enjoyable part of the job, and just making a difference in the community.

Response Security is a well established security company in Ottawa.  My job here is quite challenging (which I like).  However, the management team here seems to spend a lot of time worrying about their control over workers and less time worrying about the functioning of the business.  The business has suffered somewhat in the last 5 years or so, and I suspect that this is why.  The guards are not well trained and as a result, they are constantly being admonished.  The morale among employees is terrible and it is no wonder why.  Managers are more concerned with telling people where they can and cannot park in the parking lot than working on their attitude.  I have only been here for two months and have already been treated poorly on many occasions.

Response offers some of the best security experience in Ottawa, as one of the busiest companies (at the time of my employment) response had incalculable potential for growth. Busy night filled with challenges and experiences go unnoticed by managers who only seem to care about money. After years in this company I can honestly say supervisors like myself make for some of the best security guards in the city, but that experience proved to be next to useless when it come to finding work as the company and its president have such a bad reputation, no other company in Ottawa wants anything to do with its former employees.

I have been working with Response Safety Security and Investigations for more than a year and I really appreciate the company's effort and contribution to the growth and development of the employees. The work environment is cordial with a close-knit team. Management emanates a productive and friendly culture that motivates me to deliver the best.

Probably one of the most fun and challenging jobs I've had. The people you work with and for are great and they strive to create a family dynamic.  Bbq'd and staff outings are the norm along with great on the job training and ample room for advancement.

They do not support their staff. They do not supply enough equipment like shirts, hats, jackets, etc. Do not properly inform staff as to requirements per site. Not very good and do not have enough staff to fill their customers needs

This is my first security job, I am appreciated that Response Team could give me this opportunity. It is a fine place for me, but I am still looking forward to new chance and challenge.

work is way harder and pay is minimum.
you can get fired depending on the CEO's mood.
you get promised for a wage increase but never happens.

Long hours, under paid, un organized administration wise. Shifts are always cancelled last minute. Hard to work around there schedule. Great if you are a student I would assume. Long term not so much.
