A typical day at work was the first day of beginning my work,  I was nervous but anxious to learn, adapt new skills and ready to perform my duties.  What I learned most was to pay attention to my clients,  actively listened to their issues and made sure I put myself in their shoes in order to adapt their sensitive problems, and find a way to collaborate and resolve them in a professional manner. I managed to communicate well with my co-workers and the clients, facilitated programs, prepared presentations for workshops, assessed and recorded intakes for the new clients.  The hardest part of the job is to   deal with homelessness individuals who are completely in a different world and some were facing criminal cases, addicted and abuse drug substance, or facing domestic and violence problems.  The most enjoyable part of the job is to see that my clients allowed and trusted me to have an opportunity to listen their problems or issues and managed to resolve most of their sensitive situations.

A high degree of multitasking physically and mentally was involved, prioritising as necessary within the limited hours allotted, due to funding guidelines as set by the Ministry of Attorney General.
I learned a lot about myself and what I was capable of, as well as picked up invaluable new skills along the way. Typically management afforded me and my partner a high degree of autonomy . It was a very unique experience being the only man in a Women's Centre, but I managed to get along with everybody. The hardest part of my job was breaching client's and the most enjoyable was knowing when I had made a difference.

Good paste environment. Staffs are very friendly, including interns. Surrounded by many different cultures seeking assistance. Flexible hours, and always productive everyday. The Rexdale Women's Centre is always clean inside, and there is a lot of room to walk around. They also have free computer for anyone to use with great wifi service. All staffs are friendly and helpful. Additionally, they offer a variety of service for youth and adults.  Sometimes during the day, staff from different departments offer extra food left that clients do not want.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Meeting new clients,  and getting to know  the client of a diverse community.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Language barriers but that can be easily overcome in a diversed community there is always someone to interpret.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very diverse  with a variety of many different cultures.

A typical day at work for me is very engaging and informative for clients and myself.

Rexdale Women’s Centre was the best place I ever went. The people are nice and respectful, playing with my new friends was the fun time I ever had because they say I am funny, crazy and sweet to them. I like to be friends with new people even when I don’t know them. If I get this job I guarantee you I will try my best to make the customer happy and enjoy themselves.

- Developing programs for seniors including: workshops, summer activities, field trips, computer lessons, providing information based on the clients needs

Great working within the community of Rexdale.
English Conversation Circles provide opportunities for direct-practice and community engagement. Many of the events held annually (Black History Month, International Women's Day was great opportunities for me to participate and learn.

It is good place to get real community experience. Here you can chance to interact and work with diverse community group mainly newcomer, Refugee family. This is primary contact for the new immigrant who provide quality base settlement services. I learned networking, Coordination and group facilitation while working with agency

	Completion of intake forms for walk-in clients
	Coordinated and delivered education to individuals and communities
	Completed intake assessment 
	Counselled and supported sexually abused women

I did unpaid volunteering hours at Rexdale Women's Center and it was one of the best place to do co-op and I received hands-on experiences in Labour market integration, facilitation, settlement work, working with older adults, and community outreach.
