i personally am on a calling list, they go by senority (unionized) so i never know till friday what shift i'm on or even working.
,
i've been there 2 1/2 yrs and devoted my time and faithfully been there on this calling list often showing up with 1/2 hour notice, double back with 7 hrs in between shifts,always answering my phone.There is no job security at this time with Rich's,unless you have high seniority,
i was on a paid vacation last week and told to return for sanitation duties on wednesday, when i return i discovered i was not schedualed and have one midnight shift this week and nothing for next week , with no advance warning nor confirmation from management.
The morals from many of my co-workers are very low, and many are seeking other employment opportunities,
I have learned and earned many skills from Rich's, and for that i am gratefull, but as a single person and their unpredictability they have left me with no means to continue to support myself there financialy, i have been at their every call, called in when they dont call me,they may give me one shift so therefore they are not obligated to give me an ROE leaving me in financial distress,
As for the job itself i love it. when i am working i have no complaints,
i still am employed there but actively looking for job security

Comfortable working conditions, good pay for skills program


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Dealing with the favoritism from management,  being rewarded for working hard with someone else's work instead of management dealing with people who don't do their's.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is pretty toxic. Instead of dealing with issues and treating people fairly, the management makes special deals with certain people creating animosity and resentment throughout the plant staff. The union committee is also unwilling to deal with any of the issues. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
If you are a good worker you will spend your day running around putting out fires while the management treats you as if you haven't been working at all. If you are less motivated on the other hand, you may choose to do less than the bare minimum because your responsibilities will be delegated to one of the hardworking employees.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working independently in taking care of family household.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Having to deal with people who take advantage of the owners.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
You are treated as if you are at the lower part of the totem pole. My boss curse and screams at you when you are not able to take on his job or work. Plus has an affair at work, so work environment is very stressful at times.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
When working with other co workers who put in the same effort its a good day.  It's when other co workers don't do their part its very overwhelming. Also work loaded had tripled since I worked there over 17 years.

There are good and bad days but overall it’s a good place to work. Lots of different people from all over the world. They are fairly accommodating. Shift work is the hardest part to get used to. Especially when you don’t have a proper rotation set up (which takes forever to get and I don’t understand why). It is a fast paced environment so be aware of that. Pay is good, decent benefits, people are for the most part helpful. I would recommend working at Rich’s. 

Worked there 35 years started when I was 20 and worked there until 55 years of age first 18 years I was  hourly doing numerous jobs in different departments then was offered a management job as a team leader I then advanced myself into 3 different manager roles at which time there was some corporate re-structuring eliminating my spot but through those years the family ownership was there to help me with anything I needed at work or me and my family needed aid within life if possible  I would have nothing but good things to say about richs as a place to work

I enjoyed carton printing for Rich's. Products which initially made  a milk substitute which, when frozen was shipped to McDonald's and international airlines all over the world. plus supermarkets everywhere.
 When the company diversified to making bread, rolls, cinnamon buns and frozen pizza, newer and different sized cartons were needed. I enjoyed the people in the plant and we as we all depended upon each other. I enjoyed the time I spent there.

when you first enter into the facility you get a fifteen minute break before starting.  All the staff and managers are nice as long as you listen to the commands that are given.  What I have learned from the job is how to work well under pressure because things start to speed up in there and you have to be able to keep up and adapt quickly as soon as you enter into the facility.

ok...This place sucks………Just a number and they only care about the company…Bottom management are only out to make themselves look good…Makes lots of promises but do not deliver.
Company wastes a lot of money but will say there is no money when needed for employees .If you issues... most of them don't get follow up. The owners are amazing people but there are things that others (management) cover up so Family don't see the real issues at hand……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………...……………………………………………………………......………………………………….............………………..…….........……ok

Friendly, wages are ok, benefits

Machine breakdowns or cranky operator 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Multi cultured workers, safe place to work, clean. Most people are friendly :)

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Repetitive, quick and very productive

Starting pay is not great but there is plenty of opportunity to move up with different jobs and skills. Super fun being able to work with so many different types of people, communication can be lacking at times between management and floor workers. Benefits and pension plan are good. Plenty of opportunity for overtime as well.
