What is the best part of working at the company?
At the time, travel and exploration of different pipelines .That to be honest was the only good thing. Hours would turn into days and you never really had support from anyone.You were on your own.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Equipment was kept in poor condition, you have no change room in the winter to suit up, that’s done at your vehicle in the lot. Other workers at the time would purposely go out of their way to set you up or make ridiculous things so that they would be prime on site. To be honest, even with the management there it’s gotta be the most toxic place ever. But if you’re a woman you’ll have no problems, except others chasing you around, no joke. Prepare to be out of town for some time. Guess good if you’re single. There’s a reason they’re willing to pay for your license, anyone with any experience will not apply there. Have a habit of doing your pre trip in the am, never know what you’ll find!!!

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
This company is the most ruthless, brutal and poor trash culture I’ve ever seen. The stories I could tell, but won’t. Things have gotten even worse since all that pipeline work. I literally have never seen a place like this and would recommend some to do yourself a favour and don’t bother. TOO MANY POLITICS AND WAY TOO MUCH DRAMA. Don’t even waste your time!

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Leave hotel from one town, drive out to another for what ever work had to be done, hope to God no freezing rain on the highway. Dodge sketchy long haul drivers, and hope I make it back safe

Started out in June 2022. It was all yes yes great we will do this etc! My family sacrificed also in the move spent 26k in costs to relocate from another province to start with BD for better life yet BD operations provides very little direction planning when dispatched out for work! It’s always last minute or very unclear direction where when who unit etc it’s no regard for your family but just go and you’ll get info and then likely not know whats happening and will return home because they didn’t plan right!  Your assigned unit will go to whoever they like more and you’ll be told unit is out for repair “lie” it will be on job site with whoever and you’ll be in some old dump box worn out unit! Management isn’t very transparent, paint a nice picture but leave you in the dark. Suddenly OPS will go quite won’t lay you off or terminate or respond to your attempts of willing to work so you can’t even get EI to support your family yet they keep hiring people. Will cut you off benefits without even calling you! Safety is a word for them and a-lot guys running equipment don’t even follow safety yet safety doesn’t see it being an issue. OPS gives out nice work detail to ones they like that buddy up with management so they get cream of crop allowances perks. A big fall in rating for BD why? Because they fail in work sites, fail good people wanting to work but play favourites, they work as a rotating door! 

I’ve worked for Bulldog for a number of years and love it. The maintenance manager & foreman’s at both shops are all knowledgeable & very easy to work for. The guys in the shop are all good mechanics & fun to work with. Lots of very knowledgeable guys to learn off of. We’re pushed to do good work & the focus is always sending out well maintained, safe equipment, not cost cutting & sending out junk, which is nice to put your name on as a tech. The service trucks all newer nicely optioned trucks with supplied tools. They give you a service truck to take pride in. There is nice shop tools and equipment (welders/cranes/fluid reels/diag software) & the shop equipment is always replaced when needed. The tools they supply in the service trucks are nice as well. The work is fast paced & sometimes can be stressful to meet deadlines, but that’s what makes it exciting. With a fleet this size, there is always more units that need to get worked on. There is always overtime available whether it’s at the shop or in the field & you can make really good money if you like to work. Even if you’re a service truck guy it’s not usually full shifts in the field, so it’s a nice mix of being at the shop & being on the road. They try to keep the fleet very similar, so the parts stock on hand is fantastic. There’s a lot  of freedom & the bosses are very understanding of personal life issues. You feel like a  member of a team, not a number. Overall it’s a great place to work as a mechanic. 

I have worked at Ridgeline for 10 years and have held various positions within Ridgeline. I have had plenty of opportunities to advance my career. Ridgeline provides an excellent professional development program and encourages all of their employees to part take in extra training programs to further their careers. Ridgeline has a great group of qualified professionals and provide excellent services to their clients. 
Ridgeline in the recent years has made a focus on ensuring their employees maintain a good work/life balance and Ridgeline is regularly tracking employees hours to ensure a work/life balance exist and pre-planning for crew changes when required. 


When it’s busy you work ridiculously long hours and there is no schedule. You have to keep track of how many days you work and take the legally mandated four days off after you work 24 in a row (unless there is a break between jobs). This is also company policy to protect the company from getting in trouble with labour standards but the project managers get mad at you when you take the mandatory days off because you are “screwing up the work schedule.” When it wasn’t busy there was no work for two months and I had to argue with them to give me my record of employment so I could go on unemployment, being told that we would be back to work within 2 weeks.  When there eventually was more work I was told it was only a small job that would last a week or so but I have to be available the next day. When I said I wasn’t available due to other personal matters I was fired.

The staff and management were amazing to work with, and had a great safety culture and respect for the employees

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part of working for bulldog was the few times you had to work unexpected overtime which in this industry really is expected so if your not ready to work and get paid and treated well ... your in the wrong place 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is muddy, wet and dirty some times hot, sometimes cold, never too hard, but you always knew you did an honest days work and the guys at the shop always let ya know it was appreciated, this is oilfield and construction if you pig the effort it will be recognized

What is the best part of working at the company?
Intimate office environment, where all the administration staff get to know your personally and where you can build a rapport with people. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Don’t really have a set schedule, get moved around A fair amount so it’s difficult to get settled anywhere, or make plans for days off

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Great. The people are friendly, and the mechanics are great at ensuring that the trucks are in good working order. If any concerns about the condition of your unit are raised, they are always addressed immediately.

Varied greatly from day to day. Would be hard to describe with any accuracy

You know when you don't matter as an employee when the company is ok with running you until you crack then fire you. This was my experience and also the experience of a few others I. When I approach the dispatcher because I was not fit for duty I was ignored and sent to work anyway. I was bunched with my swamper. While he was sawing logs I was tossing and turning getting 2 or 3 hours of sleep per shift. I managed almost a month of this while making requests for different sleeping arrangements. I exercised my right to refuse safe work and ended up loosing my job. This company is good for a short time but not the long haul.

Work-life balance is non-existent here due to constant, excessive turnover. Instead of hiring support, the expectation is for remaining staff to absorb multiple roles indefinitely. The integrity of the feedback system is compromised; management seems to bypass the objective design of reviews to ensure their narrative stays biased. Recognition is reserved for the 'inner circle' while frontline staff are overlooked. Additionally, management justifies stagnant wages and a lack of equitable raises by using data that does not match the reality of the current market. Highly discourage those looking for a fair and stable environment.

Most jobs are 12 hr shifts days or nights whichever you prefer. Management is very accommodating as far ad personal life goes, very family orientated. I came to Bulldog with no oil field or truck driving experience, they were very willing to train new employees. They exemplify a company with a very positive workplace culture and are a equal opportunity employer. The hardest part of the job is working in all kinds of weather conditions, however it's left to the employee's disgression to decide if it's reasonable to refuse to work due to conditions. The best part of the job is the ability to take time off as needed, no questions asked.
