I wanted to get out of the typical frontline positions that I had been in, and when I was offered the position at Right at Home, I was more than thrilled to join them. The pay was relatively okay, however, the owner really sold the idea that I was going to be able to do more in my role and grow with the company more than she ever meant which was disappointing after a few years of loyal work, and not seeing any other pay-off but ensuring that the results were consistently improving from client retention and referral rates to decreasing employee turnover. I will be forever grateful for this opportunity though because it gave me the chance to master the skills I needed to advance in my career, go back to school and then go on to more senior management positions in the healthcare and education fields. I never would have been able to do that without Right at Home. The work/life balance was not the greatest, but for a younger individual I was able to manage relatively well. There is not much stability unfortunately for anyone, not even the owners, 

Think many times before applying! Pay and benefit is good but VERY POOR management! They LIE about the flexibility of the schedule.I was VERY SURPRISED that my schedule’s already made even before i give them my availability and will not cancel the days i told them im not available. I am forced to work on the days im not available as they want me to find a replacement. I DONT HAVE A CHOICE! If i cancelled it a day or two before the schedule i would understand but more than  MONTH BEFORE, IS RIDICULOUS!I dont mind working on a weekend but they should also follow the “time i am available” not their chosen time just because they couldnt find someone to work on the weekend.  I have told them the reason i can not work nights on weekends that is why when i signed the contract i wrote 3pm-11pm weekends but  they SIMPLY IGNORED me. It is not my responsibility to find a replacement on the said “days of work” as i have NEVER AGREED on the time they scheduled me. Im soooo DONE with them. Glad im not working there anymore. NO STRESS and NO WORRIES. IT IS THE MANAGEMENT OF THIS COMPANY THAT NEEDS AN OVERALL CHANGE (HALTON/HAMILTON branch)

Lots of people think home care is like working a nursing home. It is so different. I like to care for 1 or 2 people and great opportunity to help keep them home. I luv that I can be flexible in my schedule. Some days I see many clients throughout the day and evening, maybe the next day is 12 hours and another day off.  I like the variety.  I travel with clients and luv to be a support like not just personal care but help with meal, housekeeping and listen to their history. They are all so different. Some may smoke or have pets but you can say no that you can't work with that and office team says okay and wants to match you with right clients for you. Lots of extra training they offer too. Best part of day is seeing the smile - worse part is when you have to leave. This is a great job for me because we have time with clients to give them and not rush them. Office treats you like family.

What is the best part of working at the company?
My clients, it was an absolute pleasure to assist them in everyday living. I look forward to going to their homes every shift. It didn't feel like a job it was a pleasure

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Building a team. There wasn't a lot of help from the franchise owner. Actually there was no help from the franchise owner. To contact her was difficult and stressful.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
There was no environment and there was no culture. We made the best out of what we have. The executive to the client was an absolute Joy. She made the job worth coming into.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I had really good experience working Right At Home Family. They treated me very well. They solved every problem I had with paycheque or scheduling very well. I recommend this company to family and friends

I had no issues or problems or concerns 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Pretty good. We do work with 1 client per household every day for 8 hours. Clients family will provide extra info about their family member you are there for 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Right at home do have company party such as Christmas party or Halloween and they do appreciate all of their hard working employees

After completing orientation and being assigned a client, I was thrown into the role without proper introduction to client or guidance on using the app. Communication was inadequate and I was expected to be constantly available via calls and texts every day. They expect prompt responses when they reach out, but don't feel obligated to reciprocate in a timely manner, often displaying annoyance when you're not immediately available. One coordinator, in particular, was consistently rude and disrespectful in each one of our interactions. Scheduling conflicts arise because schedulers aren’t communicating with each other. The professionalism is lacking and it is evident they are in this field for the wrong reasons. 

It’s almost pointless applying to this place I applied to at least get 25 hours a week the most I had is one or 2 client at a time working 10 hours a week. Whenever I would ask a question about wage/ programs nobody could ever awnser my questions there is no HR it’s very unclear of who is in charge of what. I’ve referred friends to help the company out but they found a lot of the same issues and would leave. It’s funny because they always act like they have a lot of opportunities to get you in then once your in they don’t they just want to use you for a client or two. Also clients can be taken from you at any time if there care ends. No communication. No follow up. You just feel used when they need someone 

A typical day is wondering if you will have work or not. Yes, you do? Well, it's just 2 hours here and maybe an hour somewhere else. How can anyone survive on this type of set up? I enjoy being with the clients until they move into a care home, get better, or pass sadly and then you are out those 2 hours you thought you had every week. Management, poor. The communication is sub par and they do not value their employees. You wouldn't believe the Christmas gift if I told you. Disgusting. Glad I have moved on and won't ever look back except to remember my lovely clients and their families. Not their fault. The pay is a pittance. Avoid.

In the beginning, Right at Home, I was working as a casual PSW. I didn't have much to do with them as I worked also with another Agency.

Then I picked up ft hours. 
There are NO Benefits, NO holiday pay.

Also when holidays came along, RAH didn't want to pay for holidays. I had to fight for working Government holiday pay.

Secondly, RAH was withholding monies from me for over 5 bi-weekly pays (this added up to over 500 hundred dollars) Again I had to fight for my back pay.  

Very disorganized. 

After my back pay, I had to quit as I do not believe I had to count every penny that I worked.

I work here and so far find it one of the best employers I have worked for. I have my schedule for the next month always in advance which is great so I can plan my weekends, work consistently with the same client so I can build better relationships. I get paid $16.50 plus vacation and I have benefits. The other company I worked for didnt offer benefits even when I was full time, so I left and am only with Right at Home now. The girls in the office are amazing, always willing to help me out when I need it. They will offer me as many hours as I want, or don't want. They offer online courses and some in the office to.
