Ripleys Aquarium of Canada

Working at Ripley's was a great learning experience. Most days were filled helping customers who were at the end of their rope because it was so busy. The aquarium is very expensive, and by the time the guests got to the photo port (located at the end of the aquarium) they didn't want to spend another cent, and would usually get frustrated when we inquired if they would like to purchase a souvenir photo.

I learned to be patient and understanding of with the customer. This was essential, although admittedly sometimes very difficult over an 8 hour shift. The hardest part for me was treating my first customer of the day the same as my last, and not letting any unpleasant customer experiences carry over to the next customer. This was difficult just because of the sheer number of customers (around 2000 during weekdays, 5000-10,000 during weekends, holidays, and throughout summer)

Unfortunately there was a huge disconnect with upper management and floor management. The GM would make decisions that would affect the floor work flow from only about 30 seconds of watching over us every couple of weeks. 

I had amazing co-workers and that was definitely the most enjoyable part of the job. We were a family. Everyone knew how tough it could get, and would help each other out at every opportunity because of that.

Ripley's Aquarium allowed me to interact with people from all over the world, allowing me to learn new languages and understandings of multiple ethnicity's, genders, disabilities, etc and how to accommodate them while they enjoyed their experience. The management was secure and understanding which made it easier to ask questions and build relationships. The hardest part of the job was learning about multiple services the aquarium offered and being able to answer any questions a guest may have.

Fun and exciting place to work with friendly and supportive staff. Focused on selling aquarium experience to guests and not just reaching numbers. Loved going to work everyday to interact with guests that included tourists and foreigners. Decent amount of politics within departments. The management and HR departments were unfortunately seriously lacking. Issues and concerns weren't taken seriously and took a long while to resolve.

I loved worked nights as a cleaner .housekeeping manager was a great person .he didn’t just treat you like a worker ,he made you feel like you weren’t working there ,you were a guest.I felt as long as you did you’re job ,he was pretty leant .you can watch the fish and sharks and other ocean life in a up close.I made a one mistake and I regret it .something small they felt it was big .some of the workers at ripleys didn’t do their job to their 100% of their potential not even 50% ,but some of them are favoured 

It does NOT pay you properly  for the amount of work you complete. You’ll be doing 2-3 jobs at the same time with majority of the environment feeling overworked with no acknowledgement from any of the management team. If you become ill forget getting any hours! Management is in it for the sales and NOT the employees. 

This is one of the worst companies I have ever worked for. The company makes millions each year but treats its employees like dirt and pays them minimum wage for work that is worth at least 20 $ an hour. The co-workers and animals were amazing, but management was snarky, passive-aggressive and looked down on their employees.

This place will give you a lot of room for growth, you'll be put in a lot of positions for you to step out of your bubble and comfort zone. you will meet a lot of people, instruct guest, sell tickets to them and make sure the guest experience is at the utmost importance.

Really cool place and can be a very fun job. Coworkers are amazing. Management is the most incompetent that I have ever experienced. Actively drive people out and attempt to make life as difficult as possible. Insane amount of turnover. Can likely get a job here with no experience as they are always hiring. Pays minimum wage with no raises. Most people can barely afford to pay rent. Highly recommend not working here if you value your mental health 

Worked there for a while, quite an hectic place but time flies by when you got tasks to do. On my days off I was able to come and look at the sea life which I really enjoyed or end off my shift with a walk around. On the other hand this was given 3 star because when I joined the team I kinda had to learn multiple tasks on my own. No one was really there to teach us proper training.  A lot of tension, within the team and could say their were favourites. 

The worst management I have worked for my entire 12 year career. Way too many politics and back biting. Talk to any department and you will find 8 out of 10 people complaining and depressed about their job.

Work environment is not suitable and they do not care if you leave because they know so many people would love to work at the aquarium. They do not value their employees.
