Was a nice place to work at first, once you make a mistake on something like a gate(your first ever gate) things change. Management says if you make a mistake and you don't learn from it and you continue to make that mistake then you are the definition of insanity. They expect you to know what the mistake was without allowing you to fix it so it doesn't happen again. 100% no training, if you mess up an order the management will yell at you infront of the other employees to make you look bad and to purposely make you embarrassed and then will belittle you for days and will also threaten to suspend you or fire you if you make a mistake on something without allowing you to see it and fix it yourself. The famous saying there is "oh we can make it work". Unorganized and unprofessional. They threaten to fire you if you're on your break when they know you're entitled to your breaks. Management threatens to fire you every chance they get.

When I first started I used to DREAD this job. Mainly because I was green in the fencing industry and had virtually zero knowledge of gate fabrication and the wide variety of gates one must fabricate. But the longer I stayed, I gradually developed my own system of fabrication and learned how to fabricate the extensive variety of gates required. Now I'm a journeyman welder and although I'm not making a journeyman rate (by choice) I feel like this is a great place to work mainly because of how much knowledge you can learn about the fencing industry and it definitely helps to have a bunch of great people to work with. Also you can't beat this place when it comes to job security. If you know what you're doing and you do it effectively you will literally be here forever. 

Management was fair and easy to deal with. Work expectations were responsible. Work it self is very phisical. Heavy lifting up to 100kg. Days are long and weather( Hot, cold, rain, snow ) should be considered. Equipment was in good working order. Facilities, office, shop, etc, are top notch.
Good opportunity for young fellows to do some good, hard , honest work.
 Just one major problem with Rite Way Fencing, Kamloops. The "culture!" There is none! Just a grumpy old Senior Forman. Old as dirt! Should have retired a decade ago!
He knows his stuff. Maybe the best fencer on the planet! But he is old school. Yells and screams. Belittling his subordinates every chance he gets. Very abusive!!!!!!!
As long as he is still working there, I wouldn't work there if it was the last place on earth! 
It's to bad that one person can make a workplace so toxic. 

The hardest part of working here is working with a team of egotistic individuals who constantly try to find ways to do less work and delegate responsibilities and for some reason get away with it.  
Also the wages are very different for everyone and the discrepancies between what some people make compared to others are huge. Even from the start two individuals that do the exact same can end up with a different wage just because management says so.
There is no possibility of advancing in this company anywhere.
Some people are nice that's about it.

The hardest part of this job, and the company is dealing with management.  They are a 'do it our way or no way' mentality and will often not include suggestions in their planning.
Very disorganized and improperly run for a business.  The accounting staff would rather not deal with anyone in the company and during my time there, they took off the wrong amount of taxes for an entire year and then claimed it wasn't their fault.
I would be cautious to accept a position with this company, they have a very HIGH turnover rate and cannot seem to keep the same staff for very long.


Great place to work if you are organized, competitive, and appreciate financial rewards for your efforts and success.

I finished  my apprenticeship here. Boss was a great person, work was decent and the people I worked with here where the reason why I stayed there so long.
They understand if you have obligations to stay at home and won't send you away if you tell them. They have away work which pays more and home work around edmonton.   

Rite-Way Fencing is the biggest fence company in Canada. There aren't any that have more reach, and it's nice to work for the industry leader. Like most construction companies I've worked for, things move quickly, so you need to be on top of things all the time - but it's never boring. 

It's not perfect, but at least they're always trying to make things better, and are pretty open and receptive to new ideas. 

Horrible place to work at. Management isn't proper, they have no HR department that can properly handle things. They over work you and under pay you. They always give empty promises and there is absolutely no room for growth. This is a basic job where you should expect just a paycheck and nothing more. No vacation. No beaverments. Horrible benefits. Money is their only goal and that's it. 

Operating sub par equipment , the most enjoyable is five thirty or whenever quitting time is , tools missing ,safe guards, have to drive around scales on account no one has a license to haul trailers , missing tools off trucks that no one seems to know where they are , just a lot of stupid stuff every day it seems .
