River Valley School

This school is amazing when it comes to providing the right education and learning materials to its students. Every morning you would walk into a place full of smiles and learning opportunities. 

Being an AID at this school i have learned a lot about children and how make their learning a priority in all the activities they do. The other teachers and AIDs would always be there to help you or give you the advice that you would need. 

There would sometimes be situation when a child with disabilities that you might not be able to control or help him have a better day at school. But you have to understand that we are all humans we all have bad days. At the end of the day, you would just want o see smiles on those pretty little faces and make sure that when they walk in tomorrow through the same doors, they would enjoy their time at school.

It is like any other work place with it’s good and it’s bad. There are many wonderful staff members that make it worthwhile. Management is ok but tend to be punitive rather than supportive depending on  you are. Some people are untouchable and some people can be picked on. There seems to be some confusion on the population they serve and who they want to advertise that they serve, so you will most likely end up dealing with students with very high behavioural needs , so be prepared for that. All in all it’s no better or worse than other work places but management could do better with being supportive versus punitive/condescending/micromanaging. As with most managers. 

RVS is very well managed and the teacher who work there are phenomenal. The work environment is supportive and collaborative. There is plenty of planning time built into the school day. The supports are comprehensive and students learning needs are very well met. I would highly recommend RVS as a wonderful school to work at!

Worked with a wonderful teacher.  Many wonderful and talented teachers.  Loved the kids and parents.  Some children were very challenging.  Was able to meet expectations of curriculum and goals for children,  

Learned patience, acceptance, tolerance and believing in oneself.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Teaching French to very young children. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Administration used shaming as a means to control staff, unsupportive, and played favourites.

Great environment and culture with incredible administrators... I, unfortunately, was a part time education assistant in the junior Kindergarten program and was paid a miniscule wage without benefits or even taxes deducted. That said, I'd return in a heartbeat. 

Amazing staff, fabulous Admin and a beautiful community of children in a park like setting. However, salary is minimal and job security is tenuous at best.

I love to be busy. I just concentrate to my job and do my job with out mistakes.
Working at this company was good. It was very quiet. I love this place because Bookkeeping need quiet place to concentrate.

Although this is a highly rated school it is run down.  The hours are brutal and the children are a lot to handle. Management expects the best from their staff, but give little guidance.

the kids are great and the work is relatively easy. There isn't a lot of field trips and such so it is good for someone who is looking for a part time job.
