- Asked to work 24 hours a day
- Employees constantly blamed for managements bad decisions and asked to clean up their mess.
- People with no credibility promoted into roles that they clearly do not know how to do. Unqualified people obsessed with their roles and position of power that they take advantage of everything and everyone around them to assert their dominance.
This place is a disaster from the lies they sell students to the amount of pressure they put on their staff to herd students in and out of their school.
They enforce sales in admissions through passive aggressive (at times assertive) threats.
Favoritism.
Essentially everything you dread when working in an office environment happens here. They treat their staff as if they are slaves and on top of it expect you to work around the clock with absolutely no compensation.
I would describe Managements rein over their instructors and Admissions staff as NEW WORLD SLAVERY or WORKPLACE COMMUNISM. 
Staff are asked to completely for go their own moral compass to make a sale off vulnerable people looking to better their lives but clearly no in a position to take out loans etc.
Due to Robertson's lack of enrollments and not meeting budgets they have decided to fire more staff and continue to pump money into marketing and managerial positions...yet still they end up at the bottom. 
On top of all of this they allow bullying and harassment by staff members.
This is all to be expected when you round up a bunch of people and threaten their livelihood daily...it's survival of the fittest. 
IF I COULD HAVE GIVEN THEM ZERO STARTS I WOULD HAVE!

Management went through some significant turnover after I left in 2013, for the better I heard.  Previously, showed lack of professionalism with some staff.(inappropriate joking, adolescent like behaviour) Instructor scheduling and placements were chaotic, unpredictable and often on short notice. Contract employment and therefore dependant on student enrollment, dictated the number of instructors you needed. They frequently maximized or exceeded the number of students in clinical practice, creating heavy loads on the instructors ability to adequately monitor and instruct students, creating unsafe situations for students and residents in care at times. Lack of adequate lab space and equipment for clinical teaching. School seemed to push students towards graduation, despite their skill or readiness for graduation, as govt funding was tide to graduation. 

A typical day in my role as an instructor involves guiding international students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education diploma program, with a focus on the practicum course. I support students through one-on-one visits at practicum sites and conducting weekly seminars. I’ve learned to adapt my teaching to meet diverse cultural and language needs, building a deeper understanding of inclusive education. Student support team at Calgary campus is supportive and allows autonomy while maintaining clear communication. The workplace culture is collaborative, respectful, and focused on student success.  The most enjoyable part is witnessing student growth, confidence, and hands-on learning in real childcare environments. It’s rewarding to see them thrive professionally and know I’ve played a meaningful role in their journey into the ECE field.

While under the old management, the department I was in was great. Once new management came in, they started to treat you like you were just a number and were only interested in profits / turn over. They wanted you to work on your own time, for free, and didn't want to reimburse you for long distance calls that they wanted you to make on your own time. While on leave, I decided I wanted to be treated with more respect and like I was more than just a number, so I decided to look elsewhere. The coworkers really made the job bearable but the management (at the time any way) was doing a poor job in my opinion.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work life balance, they give you schedule that fits your availability and you decide if you want to accept it or not, work can be short term though from 2-4 weeks assignment depending on the class enrollment

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Answer emails, grade students assignment and follow up while on clinical practicum

Working reception at the front desk.  I was answering multiple calls at a time redirecting calls to the student recruiters,  Being a friendly face that people and students saw when they came into the door.  I was who they came to to answer questions and make them feel comfortable.  Very multi cultural school with many wonderful students. I liked getting to know the students and the hours I worked.  The hardest part was it was very unorganized at the time of my employment due to many many changes in management and staff.

I absolutely love working at Robertson. I've worked for some HORRIBLE companies where management and coworkers did not treat each other well. Robertson has a sense of family in their work environment. Everyone is supportive and kind to another. They offer a lot of encouragement and daily affirmations to their employees and they care about them in so many different ways. This is a company I want to work for, wok with and STAY with! 

Robertson will seem like good place to work but the positivity is all fake, it’s like your love bombed until your not. You need to be a sheep and not an individual thinker. A lot of turn over. The long term employees are rare. 
They have let go or lost a lot of great employees including management. The constant change with no planning or thoughts is exhausting. Pay is mediocre at best. 
Also it’s the blind leading the blind. 
They talk about Practicum students like used cars. They “shine up” and polish students resumes but don’t actually ensure the student has the skills to apply to the job they’re studying for. 

The best part of my day is working with students and staff. I love to see our students graduate and go on to make a meaningful impact in our communities and our country. Our staff works hard to guide and support each other in their roles, as well as our students. We have a lot of busy times with students starting programs every month, but we balance it well with social activities, celebrations and special events. We've also piloted a 4 day work week to give everyone a flex day per week. It has had great feedback to date. 

Great place to work; supportive instructor teams both in Business and Health; fantastic management with excellent resources; every day is a learning experience.  The most enjoyable part of the job is making a difference in someone's life and watching and celebrating their successes with them.  The hardest part of the job is removing traces of junior/high school mentality that some students resort to in the classroom.
