During my time at Rochefort, I always felt intellectually stimulated. The work itself was complex and sort of like a puzzle of sorts with tiny little complications that sometimes were annoying, but ultimately led to learning opportunities. I found the management to be a bit tough, I guess I was hoping for a workplace culture more in line with what I viewed as the circus, a band of strange people who had accepted their weirdness and could accept that fully in others. Nonetheless, in an industry that can be unforgiving, I found the entire experience to be inspiring in a way that can’t be easily explained in writing. It was a real world experience, one based at once on harsh truths about privilege and an experiment on whether a morally just fashion industry is possible. Inspiring!  I would definitely recommend Rochefort to new graduates looking to learn a lot of industry skills in a short amount of time. 

I worked there some years ago as a seamstress. They underpaid me. There was not a day i worked there i wasn't in pain from sitting hunched over, stressing to finish a lot of sewing work. You are timed and often we were switching machines a few times, zig zag, to regular, to coverstitch.

I was hired as a cutter recently and although i am extremely skilled, neat and fast, they say they will pay you between $17-$18, one thing and then
they offer you $16.50. My friend who does the exact same job $20 /hour and me $16.50!!! Why?! Because they base the salary on the season and on favoritism. They are unprofessional and low balling their experienced workers, which is why they are always hiring. 

For the amount of work it is they need to properly pay their staff.

A disorganized workplace, low pay with no benefits for the type of work that's undertaken. The employers are not accommodating,  with little consideration given to their employees work life balance, except when they desperately need to fill a position (you can try to bargain). The work is interesting, sometimes stimulating, but since they are disorganized, you may end up wasting your time having to redo a lot, often in a state of rush. Many of the colleagues are sympathetic, but overall not a place that makes one feel fulfilled. Managers sometimes resort to microaggression and manipulation, which doesn't nurture a workplace that feels safe. 

salary and opportunity are given to favorited employees or even family of the direction, underpaying skilled worker until they are good enough to deserve a higher salary and then firing them, hiring migrant worker to trap them into exclusive contracts to then underpay them.

We are always working on a huge variety of interesting costumes. Im straight out of trade school and gaining great sewing experience. Its challenging but I learn something every day. 

I like the atomosphere where everyone is working independently and professionally.  People in manamgenet care about every single employee as well. IT is a good place to work!

with a system that functions on mass turnaround this is more like a place to cut your teeth than build a career.  The expansion to larger projects leaves less room for creative input.
