Rocky Crest Golf Resort

I loved my job at Rocky. However lodging, is awful. Know that before you jump in! Not only is the nearest town a $40-50.00 cab ride if you need groceries, but the town shuttle is always full. They set you up in bunkbeds in rooms that should maybe only have 2 ADULTS max. And the laundry facilities are always broken. There is a shared kitchen and it’s always dirty. Most of the appliances will short the fuse box. And there’s black mould and electrical issues through out some of the housing areas. However, the guests are lovely, and you make tons of really great friends and memories to last a life time! Money is good, tips are better if you serve and sometimes they leave tips in the rooms.

Felt safe & there was opportunities to grow.
Management understanding when needing to leave due to circumstances. And after seasonal work for preparation to travel more.
Worked Nights, no issues with getting to and back from work with Shuttle Services and needs to run errands in town.
Done a lot of transportation for the Employees.
I've traveled back through to come back to NS from BC & not an issue to visit friends from previous seasons.
Greatly enjoyed my time with Rocky Crest.

This place is located on Lake Joseph, So you're working in one of the most gorgeous spots of Muskoka. Things can get very fast paced and then slow during other times. Management is really eager to offer career advancement to those who work for it. Its a very straightforward position in my opinion, the workload was more than manageable and all the staff are extremely friendly/helpful. If you're at rocky crest though unfortunately it is seasonal work so for about 5 months out of the calendar year you'll need to find alternative work unless they offer you to transition to their sister hotel across the lake. 

You are living in stuff accommodation which is in really bad condition and there is nowhere to go from stuff accommodation because it is in middle of nowhere. Resort is 10 min drive fro stuff accommodation and you are not allowed to use most of resorts facilities. To get groceries you have to take shuttle once a week or to know someone with car. A lot of times people have to work only half days and sometimes you are working 12 hour shifts after a lot of people leaves in first 2 months. But you can meet a lot of new and fun people and make some good memories with them tho.

The day at work starts filling the cushmans with sheets, towells,and amenities needed for each room, then the manager formss team works, and gives you a list of rooms to do for the day, the work is very easy, it was my first housekeeping job, but everybody was very helpful in teaching me, I learn to use chemilcal products to clean, also how to make beds in their style. They also provide you a good team work enviroment, they did a dinner for us in thanksgiving day. The staff is free to use the common entertaiment spots when they are not being used by guests.

Rocky Crest is a great place to work if your family has a place in the area.
Their staff accommodation is "Summer Camp + College Dorm"
If you like binge drinking with early twenties, then it's great.
If you like working 10 days in the sun and then taking a rest, less so.
Don't take yourself too seriously, and enjoy the weather.
Management is polarizing, you love them or you hate them.

There is a high employee turnover at Rocky Crest and you soon find out why. It is very unorganized and they are not interested in ideas for improvement. Bad work environment as management is more into gossiping about their employees instead of property training them. They are always understaffed. Guests never want to return and are very rude.

Absolutely loved working at rocky crest. Beautiful place. Great learning experience. Didnt get called back. Asked for constructive criticism got no answer. 

Great place to work for 6 months seasonal April to October. Great for new Ukranians as there is dorm style housing for singles and it will give you cleaning and housekeeping experience in a resort, Canadian experience and save money too.

My time at Rocky crest has been excellent. The management is fantastic, the work keeps you busy without being overwhelmed.
Beautiful location with many great places to visit for hikes or fishing. Access to resort amenities and regular shuttles to town for groceries.
