My experience at Rocky Mountain Bus Lines in Elkford has been rewarding and challenging. I have worked for them for a full year. They offer exceptional pay and benefits, will pay your accommodations in Elkford for the first 3 months of employment, while you seek your own. The Christmas party is legendary, with exceptional gifts for all. The owners and management are dedicated to running a safe operation. Maintaining a high expectation of professionalism from the drivers and mechanical staff and a strict adherence to the standards and practices of both the company and local mine standards. Transporting mine staff to and from work safely, in an efficient and timely manner, is the order of the day every day. The owners have treated me fairly. I leave Rocky Mountain Bus lines with no regrets as I move onto a new adventure. It’s been a blast!

I’ve seen people on their hands and knees scrubbing the floor. Yes you get paid for cleaning but management will find a little patch of dirt and fault you for it. It’s like they are getting ready to fire you. I took photos of my cleanings because you just never know when you’re going to be assessed. I felt a lot of tension when there shouldn’t be any. I found we’re told the miners are the reason why they can’t keep drivers, however it’s management/owners. Everyone has a different standard of clean and I do not feel the need to get on my hands and knees to clean. I made friends with the miners and they will tell you it’s a never ending cycle of drivers they bring in, only to train new ones. Interesting?  Also there’s no where to live. Don’t expect it to be private. Where I stayed it was like a party every night. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Management, mechanic shop, exposure to all of the different models and makes of buses, including the electric buses.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Split shifts, and there was a high cost of living, and at the time I was there, the hospital clinic was shut down.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It was very good, I enjoyed working with management and my co-workers.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
There wasn’t enough time in a day, before you knew it, the day was over.

great location. excellant wages.benefit package competive when the mines.always learning new things.chance for advancement.if you are an outdoors person this is the job for you. work with a team mate so always 2 together. supervisors always on site to help and answer questions. great job . and great team work here where as where i worked before always had to learn on my own how to do things.here its like family we all work together. and 3 half hour breaks paid for sweet.

Their schedule is very poorly managed and changes daily. Days off are inconsistent and new drivers are not ever allowed two days off in a row (even if you signed a contract stating 6 on 2 off). They lie on the job ads. I had a death in my family and was fired because I asked for the following day off to grieve. These are the absolute worst people I have ever met in my life and I honestly don’t know how they sleep at night. I lost my job for needing 1 day off. STAY AWAY. 

ive been with the company 6 years as janitoral and just last year got promoted to managment. so there is advancement just know your hard work and dedication is always noticed by the owners and they do reward the employees quiet well as you can see with me.co workers awesome/bosses like family whole place treats and makes you feel like family.

It’s great as long as you stay out of any bs that could be going around 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I work 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening

Good pay but a horrible work environment, you have to drive miners to the job site and they are horrible people to drive. It's in a small town and everybody will stab you in the back as you're considered an outsider if you don't work for the mine. The company doesn't have the driver's backs and creates a bad work culture.

This company is run by people who encourage their managers to find fault with everyone on a daily basis. 
In six months not a single compliment to any employee but lots of new expensive vehicles and toys for the  owners and their families. 
 If teck knew how much of the budget went to the  owners  things would change. 

All conversations between staff is reported back to owners at every shift, safety is inconsistent, does not seem to apply to everyone. Drivers pressured into overtime constantly. If you don’t do overtime it is written on your performance evaluations. The pay is adaquate, and the actual job is ok.
