This company has serious internal issues that greatly impact aspects of retail including sales, quality control, training and HRM. The job is selling chocolate. The franchisees mostly do it well with integrity and quality of product. The head office run stores fall far short. Staff turnover is very high at head office stores as staff lack direction, training and motivation. The structure of franchises is more 'buy a job' then make serious money and this is demotivating for many of those who invest in stores. If you work for a franchisee you will work hard and learn a lot about the choclate business. If you work for corporate store(s) you will work hard and get a lot of negative feedback and learn a little about a lot. Co-workers are typically supportive but head office run stores are lead by fear and competition and this tends to break up team spirit. There is little loyalty in the corporate culture while there is strong loyalty between franchise owners. If you are looking for a dead ended challenge then this is the right place. If you are looking for a part time job (pocket money to pay a few bills) then this might work for a while but be sure you are working for a franchisee. The hardest part of the job was representing something that I stopped believing in. The easiest part of the job was working with franchisees- they are the heart of this company.

Shifts went from manageable to earlier and earlier making it harder to get to work without a licence,
got sent home early because I had my arm posed the wrong way trying to deal with the amount of endurance needed to hold the tray, customers are rude and often take samples without listening to what you have to say, manager blames the employee for things they have no control over, training is inconsistent between management and supervisors and employee will get in trouble just trying to figure out things on their own because nobody can agree on what's correct. While most of the time manager is kind, they are not very understanding, they scheduled me for work on a day i told them i had an appointment. Staff are mostly kind and fun with the exception of one person.
Very little organization with training new employees yet you are expected to work lightning speed in a few days.

The flagship location is supposed to be run, better than the rest of the stores since it is a corporate store. Unfortunately, the store is simply not run much better than a pop up lemonade stand. No company culture, or support from upper management. No HR processes, proper training manuals, no employee reviews, like literally no processes whatsoever. 
The hardest part is pretending to care about the job when you know the business is being run in such a shady manner. There are no ethics here. The saddest part is that the products and the people that work here are beautiful. Very cute little store, in a prime location. Unfortunately they refuse to run the business ethically, treat their employees with any respect, nor do they provide incentives for selling. 
I would tell anyone applying to the position to run! DO NOT work here. Very low pay for Sales Associates. No promise of hours, no training. Good luck.

I found the job to be a lot of fun when it came to the creative part of it, i.e decorating, creating things, coming up with ideas etc. But as far as communication goes towards management and  is something that was a HUGE downside to working for the particular store.
I learned quite a bit with some training, I felt I had to learn a lot of my own day to day. The atmosphere of the staff was great.
I also found that some staff are lazy and don't assist or fill the role of their positions making your work load heavier.
I found the hardest part about the job was the lack of communication, made it difficult to plan things and get everyone on the same page.
The most enjoyable part of the job would be the creative aspect.

My time spent with Rocky Mountain presented many new and important experiences such as improvement of people skills, time management and responsibility. Engaging with new people everyday proved to keep the job interesting while maintaining close relationships with my coworkers. This job helped me learn how to stand up for myself and what I believe in. For the most part, my experience with management was pleasant. My fondest memory of the job was being given the chance to produce the product that was being sold in the store. It helped me to appreciate the extensive work it takes to perfect a skill. I will always think fondly about my time with Rocky Mountain.

While there was a lot of catty behaviour and in-fighting when I was here, it seems to have smoothed out somewhat. There are frequent unsellable cast-offs from production which staff get to take home, very nice perk! Staff discount on all product.
Big emphasis on rotating product correctly, keeping busy and big push for customer service.
Amazing experiences with customers, important to keep allergies in mind when working here.
Do not apply if allergic to nuts, the store uses them in almost everything and you will get ill from airborne nut dust (they are kept above the apple displays.)

A typical day consisted of Candy production, ordering and employee supervision. The most enjoyable part of the job was producing and selling quality candy to customers and networking with local vendors in a community setting.  Rocky Mountain was a company that valued its employees happiness and well being.  Although it is a massive franchise, employees as well as management remained individuals rather than just a number.  My co-workers were mostly high school graduates but I encouraged there independence and confidence to face life head on and to never fear taking a REASONABLE chance.

Working at RMCF started in 2007 for me, as a part time student job. Throughout the years I advanced to opening and closing, full prep work responsibilities, managerial duties, staffing, payroll, yearend. and by the time I was done, I knew how to make everything in the store without assistance, I could do inventory and stock orders, I had full customer responsibility and managerial responsibilities over the staffing and promotional venues.

I think this is the best job I've had in terms of life balance, fun, workload and productivity. I've not yet had a job that was so challenging in a good way such as this. I never felt overwhelmed, but was always busy; never felt like I was asked too much or too little of; and making the treats was absolutely amazing. My coworkers (aside from one who never showed up for work and proceeded to yell at my boss for not giving him any shifts after a month of not coming in; and the regional manager who was borderline racist) were absolutely awesome, and I felt really at home at this job.

The job was great but the owner and manager treated me and other employees like garbage. It wasn't until a bunch of people quit that they decided to step up their game and learn that they have to start treating their employees with respect. Most of the customers who go into the store have absolutely no respect for the employees whatsoever. They treated me like I was some fast food person and I was stupid or something. Overall, the job was extremely stressful and degrading. I would not recommend any of my friends to work there.
