I love my job with in aspect of the residents and the coworkers. I take pride in knowing that I can be that friend for a resident who needs an extra shoulder to lean on. The residents are what is should be mostly about. In order to provide adequate care, you need adequate staffing, which there is usually not. The workload is very heavy to begin with, and even heavier when constantly working short. You never feel like management is taking any of your concerns seriously. Unless a finger can be pointed at another coworker, you might as well not waste your breath with a complaint. There is zero confidentiality when filing complaints. The director of care is never in office, and when in office, they are never making rounds to see or check on any of the residents. Constant shortage of supplies, or inadequate quality of supplies. These residents truly suffer when unable to provide inadequate care, and the cognitive residents can definitely feel it. Unable to get most time off requests approved. Always “kindly” reminded that it’s our duty to show up to work for our residents, despite feeling sick, mentally exhausted, sore and over worked. Coworkers are usually great at supporting one another, and helping each other create the best caring environment for the residents, even if there’s no support from management.

There is no organization of management,they have one manager for three departments and the manger hires anyone and with a day or two training for about 8  different shifts with different duties and tells other staff  to help them to pick up the slack along with their own work , it's a job that needs to be done with a time limit which  makes it that much more stressful when you are doing the work of two people ,makes me think some staff is claiming to not know what they are doing because they know they will get help , I can see it taking a bit to catch on to a job but after a year there is something wrong with this picture and management doesn't do anything about it those workers should be let go if they cannot do the work . Fights amongst staff never gets resolved and are told to just drop it and go back to work .
The staff that has been there for years are so stressed and angry which makes it a bad environment to work in.

Poorly managed! Executive director has been out sick for approximately 3 years and building is run by an accountant...the Director of Nursing is rarely in office as she works from home. (wouldn't that be nice). HUGE LACK OF CONFIDENTIALITY AND PROFESSIONALISM!!!!! I've been a ft  employee for over a decade and get denied 95% of my requested days off (stats and vaca). Most new staff have difficulty as orientation is VERY short. Work load is very heavy and we are constantly short staffed. Rotations are awful. Denies us when we apply for a different rotation for a different floor. They state we only own the hours. Some staff are favored and receive better treatment. Some staff go fishing for information to report back to management or the scheduler. Very toxic environment 

You start by listening to the night report ,to  plan your shift. You then go around and make sure everyone is up for breakfast. you start passing out breakfast to the ones that can feed themselves, then you start feeding the residents who cannot. Then you begin am care and get the residents up for the day. The floor I worked on was all about team work, it was awesome  everyone was there for each other. The hardest part of working on this floor is when they passed away. The most enjoyable was getting to know them as a person and having a connection with them. Just to see that sparkle in their eyes when they remember something.

You only have a maximum of 8 hour shifts and there’s shorter shifts available as well

The scheduler doesn’t pay attention or seem to care if you’ve marked a day as unavailable she will still book you 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Generally everyone is very nice but can definitely have a high school clique type culture in some courts 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy and occasionally stressful

Not a good company to work for as they do work you like a dog for the first 3 months before you have enough hours to be sworn into the union they most likely fire you for no reason just before your probation period is up . Down right dirty for a company who says the residents come first which is a total lie on their part would not recommend to a friend on this company.

You are responsible to take care of old people living there . You work in pairs and depending upon the time e of the day you are assigned to 8-12 people. You have to feed and take care of their personal hygiene and treatments put them to or help them get up their beds.
Like any other work, the key feature is teamwork .along with your own partner, the other attendants and an RN you are a team and the days end happily if you work collaboratively helping each other.

Unfortunately the wtaff weren't always kind to each other. Constantly short and not enough time to provide adequate care to the residents

It is apparent that the management here really cares about it's clients, it's staff and their families. They consistently provide services that support the wellbeing of each.

A compassionate, mission based, home away from home environment for residents, family and staff. Watching the staff engaging in the everyday lives of the residents is truly heartwarming. You would think it is their own parent they were looking after.
