Rogers Cable

I answered phones, taking orders, requests. Typed up letters, issued invoices, received cheques, kept track of incoming monies and took money to bank. Kept track of employees hours, lieu time, overtime, vacation time, Took orders for DVD's of shows and created them and mailed them. Took minutes of meetings and distributed to staff. Filed all invoices and other information. 

Management changed often and each manager had a different point of view on how he/she wanted the office maintained. Each time the office environment changed as well. 

The co-workers were great, showed considerable respect for others and confidentiality of my position. 

The hardest part of the job would have been knowing the right way to do a job and being able to do the job. Often management would micro-manage and upset the flow of the work needing to be done. 

The most enjoyable part was the finished product being 100% correct and dealing with the guests coming in for the shows.

I joined Rogers Communications at a time of company crisis just as the broadband movement was taking place.  If you recall the Rogers@Home Internet service I started by supporting customer internet connection and content access issues. While physical connectivity was fine, there were many issues with the @Home content and the partnerships between most North American cable providers and @Home were dissolved after I joined the support team due to poor performance of the @Home content delivery to customers. I achieved second level support status after training in Cable Installation and thereafter I helped build the Field Support Services team acting as SPOCs (Single Point of Contact) for cable installation technicians calling in experiencing difficulties in activating/verifying services on-site.

I worked in the cable repair area at Don Mills location as a Technical Service Consultant. Lots of fun, in terms of people (co-workers) and environment. Good job i was able to learn a lot, learned how to deal with irate customers, and I mean super irate were they personally attack you and yell at you! So I learned how to professionally deal with customers in those situations and solve their issues, the best is at the end of the call they apologize to me for their behavior on the phone, its a good feeling that you know your in control.  So to all the cable irate customers out there make sure the cable from the wall goes directly into the "cable in" on the back of your TV set and no cable splitters! lol. Anyways sincerely it was a great job to have it provided me with great customer services skills, which I believe you can't just learn anywhere!

Loved it!! Enjoyed understanding and troubleshooting and resolving issues with the digital tv, internet, smart home/home monitoring, home phone and cellular networks from connectivity to database issues. Thrilled at joining projects preparing new product prior to launch and integrating them into the network covering all of Rogers communication products. 

I have always been surrounded by good colleagues, teaching each other better ways to perform was part of improving team performance but also making work related friendship.

Resolving in a timely manor network breakdowns was at times the hardest part of the job as new unknown issues causing delayed set window resolution time as multiple departments worked closely together to resolve the issue.

I really enjoyed working for this company, there was no advancement and this was a trial that the company was trying to have work from home agents.  Most enjoyable part of the job would of been the customers and that it was always a new issue, the management was great as well.  Hardest part was not knowing your schedule until 48hrs before your shift so was hard to plan life sometimes around that like doctors appointments.

Amazing place to work. Great oopertunities were provided in a healthy and productive environment. a typical day would involve getting our assignment and working outdoors with amazing co workers. working on or own as a sales person was really exciting. learned a whole lot and trained by extremely knowledgeable professionals.

Enjoyablw work atmoshphere usually begins at 6:00am with demand planning planning forecast which could take up to 2 hours morning meetings following up with vendors and third party clients re:inventory,missing shipments ect.

I'm in training now and won't post a review until I know more about the conditions.  You are not really working for Rogers Cable directly, but through Alpine / Sykes.

The trainers are easy to get along with and very helpful.  Working from home is always nice. (no traffic, no packing a lunch, no gas/car required)

The best man for the job doesn't always get the job.  Butt kissing goes a long way.  The service field is split up into 2 groups, piece-work type and hourly paid.  This is just stupid!  Divide and conquer?  This group does the exact same job but management wants to pay/treat, expect individuals differently.

Employees were great however, Rogers expectations of their employees are extremely high. There is no work life balance and they are not understanding when emergencies arise. 

Just felt that no matter what you do it’s never enough.
