Rosemary Rocksalt Ltd

Working for Rosemary Rocksalt is okay if you're just a part-time Artisan. Though they pay just barely over minimum wage, the hours are fairly flexible and the in-store team is wonderful. As a Key Leader (shift supervisor) you will do triple the work for a $0.50 pay raise and much longer hours. You're expected to train the incoming, and consistently changing, team without any resources, do inventory, ordering, deal with guests and assist with scheduling all while watching the artisans and leading on the floor. This would be fine if there were more than two or three KLs to help you out, but there never is. 
The best part about working here is the team. You will become amazing friends with them as you're all going through this together. 
There are "benefits" for partial medication coverage after three months, but they were never offered to us until well over a year into the job. The Artisan work is fun. Sandwich making and cleaning. The neighborhoods the stores are in all offer their own uniqueness. 
The upper management "support centre" is too focused on rapid expansion to fix what's actually wrong in their stores. The constant focus on culture and ever evolving lingo gloss over the actual issues; such as overworked staff, under-trained store management, missing money, and health and safety problems.
 If you attempt to voice a concern you will be written up or will have "your future freed up" (read fired). There is no human compassion from support centre and no one to voice issues to with as the HR resource is an on-call position who unfortunately has no real power.
I left Rosemary Rocksalt on my own accord after a few years of employment, over the years I was there 43 people left my store or were fired. There was never a clear outline of job position or expectations despite being asked for multiple times. 
Overall if you can get in part-time you might have fun. The team is cool and the work itself is pretty fun, but if you move up at all you will end up hating the job and the people.

Artisans are fantastic to work with, this is the only positive. Managers and owners say they care about their employees at the beginning but you will soon find out that this is just a marketing strategy. 

Management and owners are unrealistic in their demands, overwork their employees and are strictly numbers driven despite the values they say they have in your initial interview. They hire managers that are only numbers driven which results in a management team that don't care about the well-being or concerns of the front line workers and creates an uptight and high pressure environment, lowering the contentment and motivation of employees. 

It is clear that they have never worked a shift in the front line before as the degree of how unrealistic they are in their demands and lack of support that's needed for the team of people working for them. 

The management and owners do not support the artisans. I initially enjoyed working here with my coworkers until a new manager came on that was completely disrespectful. I brought this issue to the owners and other management and did not hear back from anyone regarding my concerns until weeks to a month after when I put my 2 weeks notice in. By then the owner spoke to me after being prompted multiple times and did not seem to believe me or support what I was saying or how I was feeling about the situation. 

I have worked in management at other establishments and what I experienced here was the definition of unsupportive and ineffective management. A major hole in the company. Because of this, I no longer support their business.

Shifts are almost always 8 hours unless it's an after school shift. Starting wage is close to minimum wage, with an amount of room for advancement but not much. Higher-ups will ask for input and feedback but you will not receive credit for your work or ideas, which is frustrating. The people you'll work with day to day are super friendly! If you are not able to handle high stress/multitasking, this is NOT the job for you. Management differs from store to store - having worked at 2 separate locations, the pace, style, and workload varies. Training and SOP's are extremely to the book. Everything has a place and a reason behind it - the company is almost cult like. Yes, it is fast food, but we also serve and bus tables. There is a LOT of prep and daily tasks. I learned a lot about time management and multitasking, as well as working with people.

From the outside, it seems to be a modern, hip small business on the rise. However, they try to do new things before fixing internal issues. Staff is overworked, and get paid the same as retail workers who don't do as much.   Management is fine, although they expect key leaders to take on the same responsibilities as managers do at other jobs. I wouldn't say that I hated the job but I didn't love it either. A lot of unnecessary in-store drama.

A lot of stress lack of management in one of the locations, and a lack of empathy in one of the locations. 
Good willingness to teach and schedule flexibility
Lack of compromise from the staff in one of the locations.


The staff are awesome people, the owners disregard you as a worker. no job titles, no pay for the same work.
 IE: Store Manager =  head store assistant = $13.50 HR

No benefit at all
They don't appreciate when you do great job 
They don't promote staff
Some stores has good and strong culture
Company is not profitable so they don't care about staff

free food, managers dont give a you know what, cool people,

typical fast food job, managers just care about money, no real culture

only good thing is food, and some chill coworkers

Tends to have younger staff but room to grow and advance within company. Discounted staff meals, no late nights, always had fun on shift. No on site manager so a lot of responsibilities 

it was fun helping people and giving them utmost satisfaction, but the management wasn't the most pleasant. the labour is especially difficult for closers.
