Roy Northern Land and Environmental

Great 8-5 job.  Very relaxed, no micromanaging.  Everyone is very kind and flexible.  Those that have children can pickup during the day or leave in the event of an emergency with no repercussions/judgement free.  Same with doctors appointment etc.

Staff had to be laid off due to COVID but management called staff individually to tell them the news and their options - quick turn around to get paperwork done.  I was a lucky member who was hired back on.  If you show the company respect, they will do the same to you.

Staff members from different departments get along very well, management has had social gatherings outside of work making it beneficial to know colleagues better.

Roy Northern has grown a lot in the last few years, and there are still some hiccups with growing but the team works hard to have everything run as smoothly as possible.

I have nothing but respect to this company - as with any job nobody is perfect but ultimately I recommend working here 110%

Roy Northern has always treated me well and fair.  The management team is super friendly, open to new suggestions, and really want to see their staff be happy.  They are very understanding of the work-life balance concept, and make sure staff aren't being overworked.  Everyone looks out for each other and I really like how the different departments cross over to help each other.  I am really proud of the in house expertise we have as well. We have a team of experts who are innovative, solutions oriented, and team minded.  There is plenty of room for growth, and they have a company structure that shows a clear path in consulting. Management is big on staff retention and tries to make this a work place that is adaptable and flexible to different needs.  I am super happy here, and I want to make this my long term company.

Worked at Roy Northern for over 5 years, and found it to be a great stepping stone for advancement in my field. Left company to take advantage of new opportunity in same field at a company down in Calgary. Working in NE B.C. and NW Alberta gave me the hands on experience I was looking for.  Worked for good managers who took time to orientate me with specific client needs and different regulatory bodies.  It was my first time working up north, and enjoyed my time there.  The winters can get pretty cold, but got used to it after awhile.  Company has been around a long time, good reputation within industry.

Very poorly run. Land partners seem to hire and fire people. No real room for growth. Sadly the good reputation they once had is disappearing as the Land Partners seem to use the place as their bank. All partners that weren't land and seemed to care have since left the partnership. They now appear to be hiring people that have been let go from most companies and Roy Northern is a last resort.  However some of the staff there are excellent people and should not be confused with the partners and management!

Management will not allow you to succeed, bureaucracy at it's highest. A enjoyed my co workers but overall a very toxic work environment. The Shareholder use the company as their cash cow and could care less about its employees. After going back to industry I realized how much the company's reputation has suffered.

Some questionable hires, which considering it that it is a company that works in the cultural sciences they should maybe consider who they hire and the affiliations with various racially driven organizations. Generally poorly run and has had really bad management over the last few years.

Management is the major let down here. It is not uncommon for somewhat decent managers to step down rather than deal with the partners. Most employees leave as they get to a senior position as there is better out there. They will spread rumours if you leave.

I really enjoyed my time at Roy Northern, I was able to grow my career and gain the experience I needed to advance. The owners really care about their team members, the clients and the company.
I appreciated the mentoring and training I received.

All I can say is that the one and two star reviews are accurate. We can speculate that the other reviews may be from the causes of the problems. Really a disappointing place. People who have potential end up leaving.

I enjoy my job and work place very much. The staff are great for helping each other learn and grow. the hardest part of my job is that it is oil field based witch means we have a lot of slow periods where there is no work or new projects
