Royal LePage is famous for offering great training and an extensive marketing programs to their sales representatives. I always found the staff friendly and helpful. Management openly shared their knowledge and I could count on them for trusted advice. Co-workers were open to share what they had learned and we enjoyed instant rapport with a large network of sales reps and brokers across Canada. It was a pleasure to work with a fellow Royal LePage professional.

The hardest part of the job for me, was promoting myself as a "salesperson". I found it a challenge to balance prospecting for new business with looking after all the other day to day tasks. I dedicated a lot of time to get to know and understand my clients and made sure to help them on a deep, meaningful level. As a result, many people came to me for information or advice, I did a great deal of repeat and referral business and made some new friends.

Customers expectations changed rapidly. While I loved keeping up to date and using the latest technology...it took a great deal of time and money to continually upgrade and implement these necessary changes.

Sadly, being a REALTOR® has become an extremely competitive business and I found it difficult to provide the level of service I wanted to give and at the same time produce the volume required to maintain expenses and make a profit. 

The most enjoyable part of the job was working with people to find solutions to bring their real estate goals to life. Marketing a new listing, finding the property the client loved and negotiating a successful sale were peak moments for me. I enjoyed most of the aspects of the role, and always did my own administration work. There was always something new to learn and I enjoyed developing my knowledge and skills.

Found it to be a very hard place to work at as there where a lot of disclosure of clients information freely openly discuss with listing Realtor s and with selling Realtor s and no or very little support from the owner/Broker of the brokerage. Found that a Realtor that is an appraiser would appraise property at a lot of different prices just to get the listing then reduce it later after he had the listing and some of the same kind of homes would be thousands of dollars different in price. Also a lot of realtor s would buy up many properties after they gave the home owner a valuation and then shortly after turn around and sell it for a good profit and when one stands up for things like that you get criticized for doing so. Not telling the truth I was injured so the Broker said that he could save me about $400 per month if I turned my license in he would pay for me to get my license back when i was better. Well 2 days after I did that he wanted me to empty out my office and after 4 months he would not pay to get my license back and his reason was 1.That I was not a good fit in the company 2. I thought out side the box to much and wanted to try new things all the time. 3.I was too honest. Well I thought that I could go to work at other agency s but when they all asked why the broker at my previous work place did not want me back and asked what the reasons where and I told them, they said that they would not hire me for those same reasons as well  so I have been out of real estate since 2012. I was a broker for many years but felt that they wanted to keep doing real estate the way it has always been here.... I paid him the same as other realtors did and I was in the top 10 realtors out of 80

As a Realtor® you are a self employed person and you need to be disciplined as such to be able to perform at your best.
This is a profession where there is ongoing learning as real estate law is a work in progress.There were regular information update sessions run at the office to keep the realtors® up to date on real estate related issues and to discuss the market trends and experiences.There are also Real Estate Board requirements that require you to complete a set number of courses within a two year period.
The manageing broker was proactive in encouraging a team environment and is commited to ongoing learning. There was also a commitment to give back to the community.Within my brokerage
there was a great team spirit with co-workers willing to share and
give sound advice when needed.
The most challenging part to this professional was the ongoing generation of leads, be it for buyers or sellers.An enjoyable part of the job was to lead first time buyers through the process of buying their first home. Listening to the needs and wants,advising them on what to look for when viewing a home, and negotiating the best price possible for them.Finally seeing their excitement when handed the keys to their first home. It was also working with the many challenges of listing a Foreclosed property and then selling the property.

I was hired as a receptionist and when the conveyancer left for another position with another company, I was offered her job. I was promised training and support as I had no experience as a conveyancer but I received one week of training with the former conveyancer and then was consistently told to refer to the “cheat sheet” when I asked for help or clarification. I was met with impatience when I asked for help, which soon turned into irritation and then animosity. This was only after weeks in the position. Expectations were not clearly communicated and only when I was not meeting them. It seemed being a mind reader was part of the job description. Everyone was just too busy to take the time to train me properly. After a couple of months and an increasing feeling of negativity in the office, I decided to look for other possibilities and discovered that my job was advertised without any communication from the company. There was no discussion with me as to how to improve my job performance until I confronted the management about my job being posted. At that time, I was told that I relied on the “cheat sheet” too much. As a side note, I also discovered that they had hired a receptionist to replace me before I had even been offered the conveyancing position and that that position had been posted as well. There was never any communication to me about this. It was not a satisfactory job experience to say the least.

The days mostly start by looking after inquiries on listings and/or offers I was working on the evening or day before. 
I have many businesses and clients that require special attention to their properties. The early mornings is a good time to call or email updated progress reports. Mornings also work best for business meetings either at my office or the clients.
Afternoons are more convenient for viewing new listings and clients to view properties.
Over 23 years in the business you learn how to read people. Their motivation, urgency, moods, etc. How to peacefully counter reactions to offers and suggestions. How to overall make them feel good when negotiating no matter if they're a Buyer, Seller, Tenant or Landlord.

Over the years I have managed my entire business mostly by myself including bookkeeping.

I enjoy telling co-workers successful ideas that I've used in the business that could help them. 
I mostly enjoy seeing my Buyer or Seller appreciating the work I've put into making a successful transaction.

The hardest part of my job is the pain of a unsuccessful transaction after many weeks (sometime months) of extremely hard work. 

I love to be busy.  Looking for a career that's continually busy rather than the up and down of the real estate market.

I worked at this company for several years and didn't want to leave as the people I was working with were amazing. Even though it was  bit far from where I lived it did not matter to me as I was so attached to the company (management) and the people I worked with.

We acquired a new company in 1999 and at the same time we transitioned all files in to the new system at the same time. I usually worked late during this time however one particular day I had to stay until 1AM as there was a system glitch and I could not tally the numbers which I finally was able to find and fix it at around 1AM.

The most important thing I learned was from the people around me was professionalism, Office antiquate, and patience. 

Management was extremely good. They always looked at the business as well as employee satisfaction at work.

Workplace culture was acceptable compared to other work places as I have heard. 

The hardest part was to convince some individuals to agree upon certain logical thinking due to their rigid theories.

The most enjoyable part of the job was working on new projects. People bring different ideas to the table to discuss and finding pros and cons would the best part of this projects.

Royal LePage Nanaimo Realty bought out Coast Realty in 2015.  Coast Realty was a local firm that did quite well but the time had come for the owners to sell.  Royal LePage is a national real estate company that may be one of the most diverse and pro-active companies across Canada.  The management model is second to none; their training of employees and agents is super and they are well respected.  It was an absolute pleasure to part of their team.

I was a self starter so selling homes became easy for me.  My model was to devote my attention to my job by doing open houses, following up with clients and putting in lots of hours at my job.  I feel I was one of the hardest working agents and it paid off with sales as well as very satisfied clients.  I purposely gave up my other career which was in the golf business.  I love golf but to have be good at what you do and to find success in the real estate business, you must focus your energy and not get distracted with another career.  Having a golf background helped however as I was involved in the sale of a golf course in BC and sold a few homes on or near golf courses.

There is a great deal of multi-tasking required, which can pose challenges during the busiest seasons, however the team of support staff are all available to each other for assistance.
The most enjoyable part of this job are the people whom I work with and the manner in which the employees are treated by management.

The recent turnover in management at this location and it has been 100% for the worst. This shift cannot be understated. Job security was at an all-time low as turnover is at OVER 1 person a month and it's not hard to see why. The shift in management has switched to someone unprofessional, spiteful and fastidious. Furthermore, change is a regular occurrence and the resources available to be kept up to date are woefully lacking. This creates an impossible combination to work with: Someone who will punish you extremely for mistakes while being in an environment where they are very easy to make. If by good graces you are able to deal with these conditions; you are rewarded with a job that has little/no room for advancement unless you invest in it further, average pay, and work that is unfulfilling and disengaging. While many of the agents and people you interact with on a daily basis are pleasant, it fails to compensate for what is truly a woeful situation.
