at hms raleigh i learnt that team work plays a huge role in being successful so i learnt to work well as a team player and to work hard for what i wanted to achieve, i sometimes made mistakes but i corrected myself and got back and track and learnt from these mistakes. i felt a sense of pride in the uniform and what i was, i left basic training voluntarily because i felt i needed more time and life experience before leaving home at such  a young age, everyone aty raleigh understood and brilliant staff helped me through the long thought about process of PVR ( premature voluntary release ) however the time i served in the Royal Navy gives me a motive and something to push for which i believe has helped me expand my mindset and feel ready for work as a civilliant before i come back to raleigh and give it my best.

The Royal Navy can provide a good career for someone who is very ambitious and wants to work hard. It also provides good pay and benefits however for me the work/life balance was too in favor of work. The Navy isn't just a job, its an entire lifestyle and its one that simply doesn't suit me.

I did learn some useful skills through my time served however I consistently found the management severely lacking, the work load too high and the expectations of the Navy as a whole too demanding.  

It's a career highly suited to people who don't like thinking for themselves too much and enjoy being told what to do.

Overall my time in the Royal Navy has been an amazing experience one which I will never forget. A typical day can vary dramatically from one day to the next or alternatively can be repetitive especially whilst on deployment overseas. The hardest and yet most fulfilling part of the job is serving away from home. This causes a strain on family life due to the lack of communication with loved ones but is a time when job satisfaction is at its highest due to the arduous working environments and the sometimes extremely long hours worked in order to achieve our goals. The results and job satisfaction one feels during this time is the main motivation to carry on no matter the circumstance and the best part of the job/life in the Armed Forces.

The easiest way to describe my time in the Royal Navy is that it's a place where you'll meet friends for life and the job is easy going and laid down for you which makes it easy to follow. The culture of the Navy is not something that you could describe, you have to experience it, it's very easy to lose yourself in it and you'll find yourself feeling different about civilian life which is something that the forces want you to feel as they put the fear of God into you that one day you'll have to actually work for a living in a proper job without any benefits.

My duties within the Royal Navy include scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance on force helicopters mainly the Augusta Westland Merlin Mk1, 2,3,3a. Also, I have completed several postings within composite repair workshops, engine workshops, airframe workshops, mechanical fitting, sheet metal work and detailed work on hydraulic systems. My role within the Royal Navy is of a mechanical nature and thus I am traded a mechanical airframe engineer.

on the whole I felt I was well looked after by the royal navy. The job security was outstanding and the experience was well worth it. I got to see places in the world I don't think I would of seen without this job. The group of people I worked with over the years was brilliant and I was met with great hospitality from all.

I feel that Joining the Royal Navy was the best choice I ever made I would advise it to anyone who is not quite sure with what they want to do. The only negatives are you don't get to see loved ones often and at times it can be stressful but that's expected if such a rewarding career.

The Royal Navy voluntary service is a very warm and inviting place. My people skills where developed during my time working there as I got to be involved in the assisting of customers looking to purchase items. It is a nonprofit organisation that gives back to the local community.

Part of a high performance Military Training School delivering a range of courses ranging from basic to advanced. Employed as a senior trainer and course leader, role consisted of training delivery, staff induction, curriculum review (to meet the needs of the customer) and facility management.

when i joined i just wanted to leave home as soon as possible as I progressed though out my career the navy became more than a job but a lifestyle I enjoyed the ups and downs and overall i would recommended to anyone thinking about enrolling
