My experience;

During my short time, being a professional I have seen some improvements and wanted to apply some simple changes to the store.  But, apparently requesting "sr.staff" members to wear "Running Room" branded T-shirts while on shift (Policy) and making time to for house cleaning tasks were too much to ask for! LOL.  Employees were late, one didn't show up for shift,  they always had attitude towards me.  I had brought this up with the Area Manager as he noticed the changes needed and had approved my requests prior. 
After I requested these small changes, The "Sr. Staff" all complained to the Area Manager saying that "they never had to do these things before"...LOL..But after the three sr. staff members threatened him, by telling him they'd walk if I still worked there, it seemed have worked cuz a couple days later  I was quickly fired due to the area manager quickly siding with them.  This was very weird and unprofessional.  Honestly, I think it had to do with being told what to do by a successful brown person..If anything, they all should've been fired for their insubordination and defying of policies and attendance. .LOL WOW..what a great place to work. 

I'm very disappointed in this organization for choosing to accept this type immature negative behavior and insubordination.  I took pride in coming to work everyday, I was there early and stayed late...I was making plans to add more value to the company.  This is my first time being terminated for doing my job. LOL 

Pro - Good place to work., you make your own schedule. Get to meet great people.

The company seems to care very little about supporting workers and will cut costs in order to save the company money, but this comes at the expense of the employees. I had worked at the Running Room for 7 years, and only had received a "raise" when minimum wage increased. They had cut positions, only to put the additional work on the managers, without a raise for the additional duties or support from home office. People within the company have bragged that they enjoyed firing people. With the new challenges of COVID-19, the Running Room did not adapt well - cleaning procedures were given, but were never checked up on or made sure they were followed through with. Seniority means little to the company when it comes to scheduling and pay. Cutting hours wherever possible so the stores run on bare bones crew, which often times leaves one employee working alone, and in dangerous situations when closing at night. Working an 8 or 9 hour shift you are not given breaks, but you should expect to see a 30 minute break come off of your paychecks. In my 7 years with the Running Room I had seen a drastic decrease in the quality of support from home office and the hiring of managers to employees. 

I worked with the company for 13 plus years, I can speak to how the management handle their team since I was with the company when it wasd 12 stores and left when it grew to 92.
The concept is the best in specialty running, the people who work for the company are true believers in the business. However, the leadership is very much more of intiimidation and the ownership does not respect the team. Often if long term employees move on to other opportunitites they are no thanked or are commended on their on work history and often will not be given a letter of recommendation even if they leave in good standing.

The company is still run like a small family business with lots of politics and back stabbing. I did not leave on good terms so take it for what it is worth.

Laziness and apathy are common here, while there are some very good staff members around there are others that are beyond useless. Staff members leave and are not replaced. There were Assistant Store Managers making minimum wage. Staff turnover is high since the competent staff don't stay long. Communication from Head Office is poor. Area Managers and Head Office don't know what they are doing. Stock is not adequate for customer needs yet Store Managers are ignored when they make requests to Head Office. The run clubs are generally nice groups of people for those leading clinics.

I’ve worked p/t for the Running Room for 7 yrs.  I have worked at 3 different locations.  They were always very flexible with moving to another store, when I moved to another area.  Staff and management have always been amazing.  I love the running culture and people that come to the stores.  Room to advance to a management position, if desired. 

One of the top 2 worst companies I have ever worked for. Management gives the best shifts to their family even when they are not remotely qualified for the job. The rest of the employees are written up for things that they didn't do. If you don't sign the write up you're fired. It's a toxic environment. 

Like any retail location, the salary is average. In a management position, the workload and expectations FAR exceed the salary. Bonuses are there if you work hard and the employee discounts and race entry perks are great.

Weekends were demanding, runnining clinics were the Best way to meet incredible people
If you enjoy running/walking this is the best place to work.
You create the enviroment by being positive and helping people acheive their goals!!!!

Overall, our store is not very busy. It is slow enough for one person to work at a time and have plenty of time to do tasks and still have time for yourself on the clock. All levels of Management are fantastic, usually accomodating, and very reasonable. I enjoy working here.

Middle Management will spew the Company party line. The Canadian family business owners are the only group who make decisions. Input from the front line is not only ignored, the source of the idea is publically chastised!
