Typically, a day would look like: 
- helping check students in for drop-in appointments and answering any questions they had about our services
- working on miscellaneous tasks assigned by supervisor; for myself, that was typically conducting research and creating promotional graphics
- on Tuesdays and Wednesday nights, helping to moderate Zoom chats and running Kahoot games during workshops

Once the pandemic started, we moved to fully online appointments and workshops and our supervisors made it clear that if we didn't feel comfortable coming in-person, we didn't have to. In addition, during my time here, I was always encouraged to work on any projects that I myself came up with. Management was always super helpful with any questions I had regarding those projects as well as steering me towards helpful resources.

I think the hardest part of the job was keeping calm during the busier times; when there's multiple people in a room or on a Zoom call asking you different questions all at once, it's a bit overwhelming.

Honestly though, I really loved this job. It was fairly laid back, especially after the pandemic started, and I'm gonna miss working here.

(Also, I'm pretty sure this has set some pretty high standards for my future job search lol.)

From shift start to shift end, non stop movement. Its a steel company so there are quite a few  inherent dangers in the shop.
 A lot of moving machinery, overhead cranes, forklifts, trucks all carrying thousands of pounds of sheet metal, or stainless steel.
 I learned to think on my feet and to be constantly aware of my surrounding environment. I am responsible for an amazing and dynamic team, we work well together to achieve goals that are clearly laid out.
 The hardest part of my job was the shift itself, 3:30pm - 12:30 am. 
 The part i enjoy most about my job is the fact that it is an extremely fast paced environment, with dynamic people working that our shift would seem to end fast.

Ryerson taught me about the complex and very competitive metals industry and there are countless examples of how companies help people everyday by fabricating metals. Both inside and outside sales people work very hard at Ryerson to achieve their daily / weekly goals. The management provide excellent ongoing training for all employees whether that is safety or sales or Six Sigma.
It was a pleasure to work at Ryerson.

Sure, of course. I reach office at around 9AM. Once I log in to my computer system, I browse through mails. Ascertain the cash position and prepare cash forecast for a week and send to Treasury, Prioritize day to day jobs and reporting for a week, answer technical questions from end user. Troubleshoot technical issues in day to day accounting activities, Follow up emails.

Main focus of the company is headcount reduction. Not a growing, healthy company, but, an old stodgy company that needs to modernize how it manages.
Many of the coworkers are some of the best people I have ever met, but, likely will be leaving given recent changes. Too bad.
When I started, years ago, it was interesting and challenging, now is a different story.

Ryerson has been a company that has thought me many new skills, and given me great challenge’s to increase my work experience to another level.it has given me the chance to grow professionally with great work ethic and professionalism.

Far behind mentoring employees! Shut up and get the job done environment! Employees are never Right. Too much of a who are and who am I. Very close to dictatorship! Following and providing all necessary. Management is absolutely not keeping up with the 21 century, to bad could be a decent place to work for support for safe working

Retired in 2009 after 26 years of loyal service. Company has changed ownership over the last 25 years, but always employees were treated as family members, advancement was obtainable at branch level or by transfer to another of our 10 branchs in Canada.

This one of my best companies that I have ever worked. The most important part in this company what I see is harmony among employees and supporting  each other to get work done. Management is very supportive. My corporate office is not crowded so we know people very closely.

There is respect for employees from management.Does not care about employees safety.machinery not maintained properly.Does not follow Manitoba Employment standards.Will not pay out 3 weeks holiday pay until 7 year of earning.Plus side can go to work stoned and be rewarded.
