A side from being a toy company, which should be a fun and cooperative work environment. It was not that at all.

It was/is a company with a lot of backstabbing, scheming, conniving managers. A company that downsized it's workforce than says to the remaining employees, that if they didn't like it, then this is not the place for them. It's also a company without focus. You can't create leading edge products without focus on strict product development, and outside the box innovation.

Again, my experience wasn't positive there, so my opinion will not be. But I assure you, a lot of people will have more negative views of the company than positive, and that's a shame because it could be a better company with the right leaders in key positions.

Spin Master is stuck between being a large organization and a small one. On one hand, in most roles you will feel like you can make a real difference for the company. On the other hand, the management structure relatively hierarchical, but processes for escalation and idea sharing are not very well developed SO if you have ideas you want to get done outside of your immediate area of influence, you will likely struggle to get buy-in from other teams.
Overall, it was good experience working there and the culture is fun and flexible BUT it was not a great fit for someone who craves structure and clear career progression planning.

High stress, impossible workloads and stingy deadlines, no work life balance at all.  Working as an artist on their shows is miserable. (I've worked on 2- never again) .  That's why so many on the current production have left, or are barely hanging on (everyone is so burnt out).    I'd be grateful for the job if it wasn't 13 hours a day needed to get the workload done on time (cancelling my valentines plans this year was a real delight- thank you- we all had to). I'd be grateful if SM was even occasionally open to solutions that would make our jobs just one ounce more manageable but they never are.   everyone says the same thing- I'll ask if the next contract is SM- if so no way in hades.  I bet hades has better work life balance.

SM cares about it's audience, but they don't care one ounce for the people who make their products.

All work and no play, and considering they are a toy company. The hours are long and the pay and days off don't reflect that. Very little room for advancement, they rather bring in people from outside the company rather than promoting from within. Product lines are in constant flux and change and makes it very difficult to do your job, you are constantly second-guessed by executives, they have very little faith in designers or creatives. There are obstacles at every point of the process, complicated and convoluted, there is no rhyme or reason for the decisions they make.

I worked at spin master under contract briefly this year.     I enjoyed my position but felt management fell short at this place. My manager was very two faced and had terrible communication skills. If you didn't butter him up, he didn't get along with you. He had only started working at Spin a week before me. I feel like I was jipped from what could have been a great opportunity. 

My experience wasn't the greatest due to that fact but I was pretty content with everything else. Although HR didn't have my back at the end, they were immediately responsive to any minor internal conflicts, such schedule issues, which I found nice. Overal, majority of staff were friendly and welcoming.

Worst career move.  Having worked for a  Premier best in class Tier 1 Consumer Packaged Group company in a Leadership role.  I joined Spin Master with promises  of advancement  based on my  experience and knowledge in Credit & Collection.  Instead, I was given a  lower than Jr level position doing non-value added work.  This promise of advancement  speech was given to every candidate as a tactic.  The team was immature and lead by Leadership that lacked Emotional or Professional Intelligence.  The most  enjoyable part of the job was the free bagels. The workplace was extremely unprofessional.  I have used the Team Leadership as an example of how not to lead.    .  Very disappointed~   Left company never looked back.

It is a good company to work for, but be prepared for no work life balance, not paid appropriately for the job you are doing and the hours of work expected.  Expect calls until midnight or harsh feedback when you cannot accommodate ongoing long work days (12-18 hours is typical). Management is a click so be prepared to be addressed in a non friendly manner or not supported.  If they made some changes to the management team or provided some serious coaching required to them, it would be a much better company to work for.  Nepotism  is also an issue and who is friends with who is how you will more than likely get a promotion, not your hard work.

Management and teammates are pure luck. Your experience can quickly change by the constant restructuring. There are really good VPs, Directors and some awful ones. Work is pretty flexible, not a lot of late nights needed, but it can get busy seasonally. It's a casual environment, most people are super friendly but there are also some that you need to watch out as they love to gossip about you to upper management to get ahead. Partnership with HR is not a thing, they love to protect corporate always. Not a lot of room to grow in terms of promotion or career development.

The company itself is okay, although the salary is below average. The benefits are fair, and if you're working onsite it's a fun place to work.

The problem is management. The lack of leadership is dreadful. People are treated as numbers and as long you stay quiet and give them what they want, you can keep your job. The absurd turnover rate speaks for itself.

If you are expecting growth opportunity, don't even waste your time applying here. Not in the credit and collections department, at least.

A fun atmosphere. Balanced with ensuring work is done to the satisfaction of involved parties. Working in the intermediate department allowed me to interact with representatives from sales, finance, logistics, IT, and customer service. Because the companies product field is toys, there is often a sense of fun in the air. Because the company is large with a focus on growth, business activities are monitored and addressed sharply.
Hardest part is looking busy when tasks are complete. I learned or was reminded that multi-faces are everywhere, do more talk less, and study one's leader early.
