There are better options out there. Company is unorganized, inefficient, and management was a pain. Will look somewhat nice on your resume to developers and asset management companies. But the company has a bad reputation with consultants. Architects, engineers, surveyors, property management companies, etc. have all heard about Starlight, and nothing flattering. Reported to asset management, but worked for development, a set-up that didn't make any logistic sense. Development team is competent, but overloaded and working under difficult conditions. Asset management team in Vancouver was horrible. No HR or IT support in Vancouver, all based out of Toronto virtually. Company isn't doing well financially, so don't expect much bonuses or employee incentives. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The Salary was quiet good and included a car allowance 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There was any real training. Myself and a couple others walked around with someone who went over the expectations of the project but it was a couple days. 

Trying to get some more training on software was difficult. I was told I would get some but the two people who do it already were booked solid or they forgot to let me know when they had some free time. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I’m sure at the head office it is busy and professional but fun as well. The office I worked at was not a welcoming environment. The     People there were arrogant and and kept to themselves. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?

Slow and Boring. Make phone calls and send emails asking for guidance. Attend a Teams meeting.

Regardless of the role, every department seems to be incredibly toxic. The leadership and upper management lie through their teeth to their teams. The ability for the teams to execute their roles incredibly tough because they hire upper management without experience but more who knows who. I see several departments stressed out daily due to the lack of actually experienced management. I would recommend not applying here. 

If you enjoy being micromanaged everyday and working in a high stress environment with little respect and no recognition, then this is the place for you. If not then stay away.  Communication internally is horrible. Culture of fear that the CEO has created. Revolving door mentality.  Ridiculous work load with little resources.

Owner managed company with focus on asset management. The facility has an underground parking lot and there is a gym in the building including squash courts and pretty good equipment. The company has hired capable and professional staff and is growing well.

Great place to work at for an independent self starter. Management is great, however it was difficult to succeed when the portfolio of buildings in the Montreal area are substandard and attract less than ideal tenants. On-site property management companies subpar and created issues for Starlight staff. Worked Saturdays but allowed to take Mondays off. 

No recognition for the hard work, as you work more, they give you more tasks. No appreciation and managers do not listen to you. CEO is a good person though, the problem is he does not know what is going on at lower levels.

Starlight is a great place if you want to step foot in the real estate industry. It's also a fast-growing company, so you'll get lots of opportunities to learn. But the flip side is that you'll be doing the same things for less pay. They're trying to hire more people so pay is not ideal.

I start my day with eager to accept new challenges. The guidance by the tem and the teamspirit is awesome. I end my day feeling satisfaction with targets achieved. 

Severely underpaid. They pay you $150 per lease signed and expect you to drive all over Toronto for their properties. Leasing team underappreciated and underpaid. your commission does not even cover gas expenses in some months. Don't work for this company.
