I'm a hardworking individual so the commissions each month were amazing and I was selling so much for the company but the team environment is toxic. I sold 80 to 100k /month for a year and a half which was breaking records at the store.No one had done that in a while but no acknowledgment or positive reinforcement was given. If you sit for 2 minutes when no one's in the store they look at you like you're slacking. It's that old school "if you have time to lean you have time to clean mentality" , honestly I can't stand that. Management pushes their best sales staff away by not even acknowledging when you break records in sales for a year and a half selling 80 to 100k for the company. If you work hard you can make 3% on top of $30,000 you sell every month! It takes a hustler to do this, honestly people get jealous because if your a top level sales person and have a great outgoing personality envious management will try to break you down by micromanaging you saying don't talk to 2 customers at one time when someone's browsing for half hour and your just simply answering someone's question. They make you feel like no you abandoned the customer or I've told my management that it's not my style to hover over the customer and essentially that's what the culture wants you to do which is so lame and personally a weird way to act around people. I'm naturally a good sales person but they make you clean the bathrooms and do cleaning duties when no one's in the store. Yeah let's sell $3,000 couches with a broom in my hand, that looks luxurious. Also, they sometimes expect you to lift heavy items to move around the store when they can afford labor ready works. I'm honestly so disappointed with how management runs the store. I'm an associate and I can run the store way better than these scattered individuals can. There's no room for growth in this company. 

Upon working at structube for almost 4 years and advancing quickly to assistant manager, I asked for a raise. The companies response was to demote myself to keyholder if I thought the pay was not enough for the added responsibility of the assistant manger position. The company misleads staff by offering a pay increase of a 1.50 per hour but the raise your comission target. After doing the math I discovered my pay increase was just a lie and I was actually making 60 dollars less per month automatically when you consider the commission target increase. Reluctantly I took my old position back as keyholder just to make ends meet. Once minimum wage was increased to 15 dollars the company decided to increase the pay of regular sales associates by 1 dollar. Unfortunetly the company decided that they would only raise the pay of keyholders by 50 cents. Even though pay will still be hight than that of a regular sales associate, the gap between keyholder and sales associate is now less and thus does not properly reflect the added responsibility of having a key to the store. In simpler terms structube does not care about dedication or senority. That combined with the fact that the company is extremely unorganized and makes several mistakes that affect staff negatively is the reason I will have to look for another job despite really enjoying home decor and the style of the products structube offers. 

Great place to work if you love design, pay is great, always at least a dollar above the country's highest minimum wage, benefits paid for by the company (no deductions of paycheque for benefits), great bonus structure, amazing products with a decent employee discount, access to medical provider Dialogue, and great Christmas/holiday appreciation. 

However, management is a bit power hungry and changing rules for the simplest of things multiple times, and getting angry if you do it the old way after not being informed. The simplest of honest mistakes can land you a write-up. Management feels more clique-y than part of the team, and they have no issue getting mad at you in front of customers, even if what you did was to ensure the safety of all employees and customers. 

Opening hours are great to ensure a decent work/life balance, however having to unload a truck full of heavy furniture pieces every week takes it's toll on your physically and mentally, especially when the company has the means to request help for lifting via recruiting companies. 

Products are well priced, however some are not the best quality, but prices reflect that. However, that means dealing with customer issues that will baffle you when it comes to the warranty and procedures. 

Overall a great place to work if you don't mind losing a bit of dignity and self worth.

Working for this big furniture company  helped me to develop myself in terms of style, managing tasks. It is a autonomous job as you are in charge of all the tasks in the store in order to make it easy to find items and keep a clean environment. I had the chance to work in two stores. One of them was managed by the same person for 25 years and he taught me how to be responsible for the whole store. Rules were already implemented so we can respect them as we were only 4 employees. The relationship was good, we trusted each other and we cleaned after ourselves as a sign of respect for the others. My second store experience is managed by a manager who ran the store for 4 years that is also 5 times the size of the other place. The manager brings energy to the work, which is less stressful and the ambiance is always great. However, managing the place is more effort as rules were not implemented strictly from the beginning. Harder to leave a place clean and the next day to find it in the same way. I enjoyed both stores as the taught me life experiences on how to manage a store and the importance of having a solid ground with rules but also having a good time with the team.

Structube was a good place to learn a lot had has a great creative team in it's Marketing Department.
However, the company is a family owned business and run like it. Every year there is great panic from the higher ups and a lot of pressure is put on whoever happens to be marketing director that year. 

There is a lot of turnover in the department and it feels like an unstable work environment, where you are not valued for your contribution or the knowledge you bring to the table.
The executive team (all family) believe they alone know everything and that you are just there to push buttons for them. They do not use the smart people who are assets to them properly and they do not make you feel valued.

There is also a complete disconnect between the stores and the head office, particularly marketing. We are not directly in communication with the stores and we are not allowed to do so either. Everything must be approved by one of the family members before it is communicated to stores, and it is never approved. Its hard to get any projects moving because of this.

I was very excited when I got the call from the company to start. The interview was easy, as well as the screening process. I figured that it would be a good first job in a sales driven retail environment. 

Unfortunately, I was very wrong. 
The whole process took 2 months. From the time I applied to when I walked in the door. The only reason I continued to persue was because I was desperately looking to get experience.

My first day, I was given no further training about the company. No videos or explanation of products, I was shoved right onto the sales floor. I tried to learn and ask questions because I liked the management, but it ended up not being worth my time. There were multiple times where I was out of my comfort zone and left to my own devices to advise customers on policies that I had only learned myself from observing, nothing was easily taught to me.

Being a "Sales Associate" is an easy job, but how can you do the job if there is no training. I believe that it would be extremely easy once all the policies are learned, but they are not easily being taught.

I worked with Structube for eight months and during that time I wasn't able to effect any change whatsoever. I was hired for a very specific role and yet my experience and expertise had zero value. I reported to a person who had no background or education in my field which was baffling to me. The company has no workplace culture which makes every store it's own battleground, every man for themselves. Every day expectations changed and no one was ever on the same page. No transparency or trust. They resist change and open dialogue is not encouraged. They lack vision which means lack of motivation for staff. I observed complacency when it came to poorly performing employees that created a toxic work environment. Management never led by example and rarely did anything to recognize employees. Overall they are completely unable to listen and respond to feedback appropriately. It was a very disappointing experience that I am glad to move away from. Luckily I'll be moving onto a company that is open to and appreciative of their staff. And I'll be getting benefits..something Structube does not offer on the scale they should be.

They may have nice product but It's a terrible company to work for. I interviewed with them multiple times, it started with a 2 phone interviews and then they had me drive down to their head office for an interview with HR, a few days later they called me back again for another interview with this time with HR and a dev, and then finally they called me back once more for an interview with just the devs this time making me do some problem solving on a whiteboard and pseudo code. I was then asked to take an at home test and create a website with multiple media uploading/downloading/storing options which I did complete and send off a day later.

After that I never heard from anyone again... I emailed and called HR; never got a response, I emailed and called the devs; never got a response. For after a plethora of interview and wasting my time and gas to go to their office they just ghosted me. I find it so unprofessional to do that to any candidate but after that many steps in their ridiculous interview process that it just down right wrong.

You apply for the management position, you are later told that you got the job but you have to start as a sales associate and you will be promoted after training. Found out there was No training available. (Minimum wage given the Industry)  Start of with $16 hour with a commission structure of 3% After you sold $30,000 in a month.

Not a core sales environment, no floor rules, no turns, everyone gets to sell including the store manager. Employees with Zero Industry knowledge, Cavalier Attitude towards customers. If you have been in real `Sales` environment (Car, house or furniture etc) you know what I mean.  Everyone does administrative work, unload trucks etc, no departments. Company has no Warehouse in Calgary.  

Good place if you are starting of with a career in retail. Not a place for people who come with Industry experience, real-aggressive  `Sales background` who are used to working out solutions, KPI, numbers, closing deals. Succession planning is not based on KPI, its based on sucking up to bunch of high school dropouts who pretend to know it all `Managers`.

They do not offer raises, often staff is unloading big trucks with heavy furniture with no safety equipment or lifts and or pallet jacks, often times durning winter and poor weather. 

Many of the advertised benefits on job postings apply to Quebec residents only.  

They tell you you can bonus but very few actually do and with the company always building more stores you’re literally competing with each other just to make the threshold so you can bonus. Pro tip! Ask to see their sales report when they tell you how much you can make. 

Very disorganized from head office down, no training at all in either furniture knowledge/ sales/etc. 
 
Many people in management positions are bullies and rely on gaslighting their staff. They also have a complete disregard for labour laws. 

Store managers get two bonuses, personal then a store bonus and often times their work will be pushed onto you so they can sell and collect double bonuses. 

Overall if you need a job where the checks don’t bounce and nothing else matters, Structube might be the place for you.
